I just bought a global g2 chef knife. I see your knife have writing in the front of the knife like this: GLOBAL Cromoya 18 stainless steel G-2 Yoshikin Japan. But my G2 only have writing like this in the front: GLOBAL Molybdenum/ vanadium steel. And in the back (other side of the blade) it say: YOSHIKIN Made in Japan. Did I received a real global knife but an old stok/ model or maybe I received a FAKE global knife? Please help
manufacturers often change logos, labeling, model numbers or names, etc based on marketing channels, marketing regions (countries) and by time of production for many reasons including legal and aestetic. Global has several marketing channels and yours very possibly may be legitimate. However DO be aware that Global is one of the most counterfeited knife brands in the world and those look alikes do not bear the same quality as Global. As long as you buy from an AUTHORIZED RETAILER you will be fine. youtube viewers cannot post pics so there is no way C&M could look at you knife and immediately determine, and those counterfeits are very deceptive, and I'm not sure a retailer would want to take that liability. You can contact directly if you have a question
Yes I just figured it out. It is the old global knife. Maybe that one in the market 20 years ago. The box is grey unlike the new global knife with black box. But still real global knife because its sharp outbof the bix :)
I don't get the point of lifetime warranty, I went and checked just recently because one of my globals has a pretty big chip in it, granted its about 20 years old lol. but still.. and website basically says it doesn't cover jackshit, I mean do they need to snap in half cutting a tomato or something? it sucks because the chip is further down and its one of my chefs knives
I have 14 globals that are almost 20 years of age hence why I just recently went to the website to find out about warranty.... so id hardly say I abuse my knives..... I use whats needed for the task and don't play stupid tricks with them..... so honestly , offering a lifetime warranty on something that basically doesn't cover anything lol Iskinda of retarded? kinda the reason I bought them years ago when I was working in a kitchen. anywho just thought it was more funny, retarded than anything, and now I know in future that warranties on such items are jokes at best lol..... I mean its not a tiny litlechip either, id have to reface the whole fucking blade to fix it properly..... pretty sad one of my favorite blades.
@@ytubesucksazznow What does the "lifetime warranty" cover? If it doesn't cover "all" that can happen? Does the handle have to separate from the blade? I mean if the knife came with a chipped tip...they SHOULD cover that. You'd have the bill and prove it happened during transit/shipping. To expect them to cover chips..you should have bought a Shun...come with lifetime sharpening. I do like Globals ergo handle design which looks like it offers the most comfort in a pinch grip. Which is why I'm considering buying my first Global chefs knife and maybe more. I only wished Global offered a chef's knife with a rounder belly where the tip is closer to the spine. For a better rocking motion cut.

Yes, Global does NOT end that warranty based on only being a year. BUT NO, a warranty covers defects in manufacturing, or materials, it does NOT cover misuse or accidental damage. The most simple way to describe this is a car, If you drive your corvette over the parking bumpers and ruin your undercarriage, is that a defect of chevy or is that an insurance claim. Any experienced knife user, knows that what you seem to describe is poor knife usage, not a defect in workmanship or material. That would NOT be covered under warranty. However some retailers, may go above and beyond a warranty, but you would need to prove to them that you purchased through them. And in that case it would be as a courtesy, NOT something done under warranty. And it certainly IS possible that it just may be in the way you described it, but based on that info, it is absolutely NOT a warranty issue.

poorly designed knives by a company that either lies, or is completely clueless about steel properties. Their products are only "german steel", but they claim a rockwell of 58-60. They certainly CAN be hardened to that high, but That is higher than 4116 steel should be used at. It lessens the very benefit of "german steel" in that it is ductile, and forgiving. The company also CLAIMS that the source of the knives are Australia, but It is pretty obvious that it isn't. Thanks for bringing this company up. I will report them to the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) If you want a german steel knife, I HIGHLY recommend Mercer, Schmidt Bros, Dexter, Tramontina, Messermeister, FDick, Henckels (with two man logo) or Wusthof which are each fine products.

Ryky, can yo explain please how it is possible for a steel rated 56-58 HRC (rather soft steel, on a lower side of the scale ) to "stay sharp longer than any other steel"? Really, man? Does it has better edge retention than harder steels, like ZDP189, SG2, HAP40, Aogami Super? Even the most average VG10 is rated 60-61... So, how is it possible? And if not - why is it necessary to blatantly lie in order to sell a product? There are many advantages I can see in Global knives, enge retention is just not one of them. Why lie?
