  • Have you ever wondered what it takes to design and bring a successful modern car to market? Automotive engineer David Twohig introduces 'Inside the machine: an engineer’s tale of the modern automotive industry,.' David's book provides a rare glimpse of the automotive industry through the development stories of three very different but highly significant vehicles - the Nissan Qashqai, the Renault ZOE and the multi award-winning Alpine A110 sports car. 'Inside the machine' reveals what it's really like to work for the major carmakers, how mass-production cars are designed, engineered, and manufactured, and what it really takes to engineer a successful modern vehicle.

I bought the book as soon as I saw it, interested in seeing the story within large automotive manufacturers a well as learning about one of my favourite cars (the A110!). I was not disappointed at all - the book is excellent! Well written, with a great balance of detail and readability, and providing a fascinating insight only available from someone involved right at the heart of these projects.

Great book, very much an "over the shoulder" look into the complex and demanding pursuit of birthing a new car. I only watched to hear an Irish, Japanese, French accent...
