It's been nearly 20 years since this video was made and I still think about it every few years. I must have watched the original upload on SCLegacy 100 times or more. This video made me realize how incredible and deep a game could be.
2004 was a fine fine year. The 3 rine v lurker micro, the ridiculous arbiters, the pylon block, the 3 DT's making it through, etc. Definitely the best year for pimp plays.
Love the editing. I remember it like yesterday my brother came home for christmas and his present for me was some VODs along with this pimpest play video... best Christmas ever!
Whoever made those videos is a genius. I remember watching them back in Cuba when there was no internet in the whole country. I enjoyed all these a lot. I remember being motivated to create my own plays.
#7: It was not some random WGT noobie, but rather this happened at the WCG and the guy who used this played with mouse only because he didn't know the English shortcuts (he is from Austria).
to be honest out of all,, that was the most uninteresting.. soo the epic micro is that he moved back? i doubt splitting them was even necessary, the Lurkers didnt even reach that far.. which is kinda sad to be honest, cant really attack anything with it, thats on the move, or if your enemy is not stupid
If you're criticizing the necessity, you're failing to realize why it's in the video to begin with. The move isn't out of necessity, though he certainly would have lost something had it not done it. The reason it's in there is because it's PERFECT micro under extreme pressure, and he doesn't even lose a single beat, continuing to make units and playing the rest of the game without getting lost in it. Necessity doesn't enter the picture.
He probably wanted to get both Arbiters to do the Recall so he could finish right there. Plus, it looked like the Terran had about 8 or so Goliaths, which would be enough to snipe down at least one Arbiters before it could pull off a Recall. Plus, put in mind that this is 2004, a time before muta micro and solid all-around micro/macro existed.
while it's possible, it takes time and result can be that the protoss player will not let you land by cancelling the previous pylon and planting a new one. The terran player was in haste and simply didn't afford the time wasted
What really happened with the dt is that the brown dt was on hold position to protect his last pylon, and what grey did was morphed 2 of the dts to create a pathing problem and forced the grey dt through. Similar to what boxer did with his vultures to get past the pylons.
Dragoons continuously pouring in, his only hope was that the tank he makes, through immobile would be enough, because he doesn't have enough time to change location, make another machine shop, and make a tank.
@knifed91 It would force incredibly defensive play, which generally results in much less interesting games. Also in very open situations like a wide open main base zerg is generally at an advantage. Without ramps and chokes it would be quite difficult to defend things like 3 hatch speedlings.
adiyo011 there are 3 darks (white) and 1 dark (brown) this was blocking the entrance. The smart player transform 2 darks in One dark archon and with this the another dark passed the blocked entrance and could destroy the pylon and won (sorry for my English)
I thought it was interesting that Garimto was commentating for Boxer's pimpest play. I wonder what wen through his mind...his former rival achieving brilliancy over and over again.
the pylon blockin vs the 2 facts was good indeed but terran should have just lifted the fact went out and resumed production after landing again, so great play but the toss but also poor by the terran
yes this is true...when the other player see's that he doesn't have any chance comes the gg and the match is finished...but if you play agains noob players ...they will stay in the game until their last building is destroyed ...sad :( .. awseome plays !
No no, they probably just say, "Thats right, I wanna see everybody's hands in the air!" with the sound of a crowd in the background while they're recording it.
I watched this back in 2005, and I am still watching it. Starcraft is the game ever.
Definitely is the game of all time
long live the game!@@justineyapyuco9274
2021, StarCraft forever

Coming back after 2 years since I last watched this video, the opening STILL makes me cry. How powerful is the introduction in this video ...
I also cry every time

2014 and still loving this. I can't say this was real starcraft, but they were nice times.

2022 year, the video still amazing. 2022 видео по-прежнему впечатляет!

Never ceases to blow my mind
2018 still loving it :)
2017 and I hope pimpest plays come back because recent ASL Top 8 matches had some of the pimpest plays ever by Bisu and Shine.
lmfao at the end
YAHH YAHH GEE GEEE
Goodfriend is such an important contributer to SCBW. Without him we would not have so many highlights.
Why is it 2AM and why did I randomly think about this series over a decade later
3 marines vs the lurker... i like that.
theres so many destroyer moves here, really good clip ty ty.
A Masterpiece!
tears in my eyes..... I was there
A classic!!
+Daniel Del Pino stfu noob
That overlord save... omg.
2018 & still watching this fucking awesome video!!!
2020 nunca olvidaré mi mejor infancia. ScBW
omg I found this video again!!!
Still awesome in 2023 ❤
Such good music choice.
this game never left, go fuckin play it if you "miss" it
#7: It was not some random WGT noobie, but rather this happened at the WCG and the guy who used this played with mouse only because he didn't know the English shortcuts (he is from Austria).
ah I found it: it was Dany aka Robert Stelzer -> liquipedia.net/starcraft/Korhal_of_Ceres
Austria ftw
I hope this will blow up.
Miss this game....love it!@!!!!
final one is the most epic of them all
Nice video, but I did not quite understand what was the "risk" in last protoss attack? He could have easily do the recall even without hallusinations?
8:09 the primal bio split
to be honest out of all,, that was the most uninteresting.. soo the epic micro is that he moved back? i doubt splitting them was even necessary, the Lurkers didnt even reach that far.. which is kinda sad to be honest, cant really attack anything with it, thats on the move, or if your enemy is not stupid

that marine micro vs the lurker
(Sorry if someone else already mentioned this.)
With all due respect, that first song is "Whisper," not "Imaginary." It is by Evanescence, though.
@Sonikflair35 looks like they trapped the tank behind factory, since it was at the very edge of the stage.
Will someone please explain what happened at 3:23? I see he made a dark archon but I must be missing something, why is it so pimp?
THIS IS AWESOME!
Rekrul vs Stylish , is that the same stylish who made instructional terran vids and the legendary rekrul from teamliquid ?
@minhbeo That would be them yes. Rekrul made quite a few pimpest plays throughout the year.
If you mean the Rekrul one, I haven't found it on RUclips, I'm sure you can google it and find it on like the 4th page :P
i think a creep colony is sort of like an attachment to a starport or cc. im not sure.
ah, the rainbow water glitch.. in the thumbnail lol.. that's nostalgic windows XP jank
great video
감탄하면서 봤었는데 벌써 17년이 지났다는게 안믿긴다...
while it's possible, it takes time and result can be that the protoss player will not let you land by cancelling the previous pylon and planting a new one. The terran player was in haste and simply didn't afford the time wasted
Yeeee
He used the overlord as bait so the zerglings would have time to get to the bunker.
starcraft.. where every race is OP
He did a perfect split as to confuse the Lurkers and not have a massive amount of M&M's die.
Super hard to do if you try it yourself, especially in a real situation
What really happened with the dt is that the brown dt was on hold position to protect his last pylon, and what grey did was morphed 2 of the dts to create a pathing problem and forced the grey dt through. Similar to what boxer did with his vultures to get past the pylons.
if you see closely, you see them floating and gliding in air. Mine is triggered to only ground-touching units, such as dragoons and zealots
i dont get it what did those pylons by the factory do?
Is the replay of the first pp on youtube, or is there a place were i can get it?
tremapar maybe here ruclips.net/p/PLjBhTB6L7eAEcO3dUw6861vlZtl3WDg3S
He had 3 goons at the end of the first attack. Any decent protoss could micro against a vulture, SCVs, and a tank with 3 goons.
the 3marines vs the lurker"nothing special" but the way he did is SICK!!!
for the pylon cage on the factories, why didn't terran just lift off?
wat are the names of all the songs?
They also don't go for hovering units, which workers, Vultures, and both Archons are. I believe Defilers too but I may be wrong.
Defilers are not classified as hovering units.
Dragoons continuously pouring in, his only hope was that the tank he makes, through immobile would be enough, because he doesn't have enough time to change location, make another machine shop, and make a tank.
Yup, noticed that after several hours of checking what happened :S I'm the stupid D:
@knifed91 It would force incredibly defensive play, which generally results in much less interesting games. Also in very open situations like a wide open main base zerg is generally at an advantage. Without ramps and chokes it would be quite difficult to defend things like 3 hatch speedlings.
Best into ever
2:46 how are they both eliminated at the same time if the zerg has a creep colony at his exp?
Really? I think the music syncs well, and like you said, the content is great.
Last one is complete fucking gosu.
Nice collection, they're all awesome plays.
Siege was being researched at the machine shop. You can't liftoff at that time.
i dont get what happened with the pylon thing....
He split his army into 3 parts, avoiding 2 lurker spine lines by pixels
@MrMordeus awesome, thanks :) Now that you point it out it is so obvious! haha I don't know why I didn't realize the first one earlier. :O lol
what the hell happend in the DT thing?
results oriented.
Wow... i would pissed off on the last one. The whole time i would be going "SHIT!!!SHIT!!!!SHIT!!!"
I really don't get the part where he made Dark Archons and destroyed the pylon.
adiyo011 there are 3 darks (white) and 1 dark (brown) this was blocking the entrance. The smart player transform 2 darks in One dark archon and with this the another dark passed the blocked entrance and could destroy the pylon and won (sorry for my English)

7:10 is awesome. 9:17, I do not know what to do with that
can anyone explain the pilon block please?
@Bonerator the hatchery had like one hp. if he didn't run the overlord in there to get the bunker to fire at it, the hatchery would be lost
siege mode upgrade was in progress
Best game ever.
Hell yeah
mi mejor juego de secundaria y un poco mas adelante
Haha, no problem. I, too, admit that it depends on a lot of factors. Don't respond if you don't want ;P
the pylon blockin vs the 2 facts was good indeed but terran should have just lifted the fact went out and resumed production after landing again, so great play but the toss but also poor by the terran
yes this is true...when the other player see's that he doesn't have any chance comes the gg and the match is finished...but if you play agains noob players ...they will stay in the game until their last building is destroyed ...sad :( .. awseome plays !
good game
Can someone explain the overlord one for me please?
it tanked damage from the bunker and the hatchery survived with very low HP . Bunkers cannot focus targets
woo the marine and kingdom, old school.
No no, they probably just say, "Thats right, I wanna see everybody's hands in the air!" with the sound of a crowd in the background while they're recording it.
HIGH TEMPURAHHHHHHHH
thats still amazing but only 0.04K xD
@queqwerty Hahaha, nice bluff, congrats on your win.
nice
You can search up :youtube downloader on google.
7:26 this not boxer?
nope.
The zoom ins ina pixel game
:O! Cool vid :)
yes
IF archons would trigger mines :P
wait, wut happened at 7:55?
