What a singer this Abhishek. Look at the way he decorates an already superb beauty of a raga and an evocative song. His voice is put to full use as he sings perfectly aligned and pure notes in a dazzling array of swaras built around Sa RI Ma Ga Ri Sa RI Ga Ri Sa. Hats off. And Patri. what a mridangam maestro! the applause is richly deserved.
I had to replay this several times because Patri Satish Kumar's brilliant accompaniment and Abhishek Raghuram's amazing constructions keep competing for my attention. What a treat for the eyes, the ears and the heart! The closing pattern from Patri Satish Kumar is a clever improvisation on 'sarima--garisarigarisa', the principal phrase that Abhishek's manodharma is centred on.
Reading comments from Bobby ji is also equally refreshing. I come to listen Abhishek's concert for 3 reasons. 1. Offcourse AR singing 2. Patri 3. Bobby comments
@Arvind Venkataraman What you said is technically correct. But seeing the crystal ball with PSK is a poetic perspective. That adds a divine charm to this sublime kind of music.
V. K. Srinivasan, Toronto, Canada. This is another addicting song in Malahari ragam in which I like to forget this whole world and its accompanying worries ; I am totally immersed and am above the clouds when I hear this beautiful song in praise of Devi, my favourite deity.
Sir This Ragam is called Kannada Bangala . It is a very rare Ragam. Both Malahari and KB share the Same Aarohanam Avarohanam S R1 M1 P D1 S* S* D1 P M1 G3 R1 S Though there are very subtle differences which can be identified through close listening of both ragams
Namaskaram Jai Sri Krishna Thank you so much of your beautifully sharing the excellent song "Renuka Devi" beautifully rendered by the Carnatic Musical Vocal Exponent Vidhwan Sri Abhishek Raguram!
I think Kannada Bangala is Dikshitar's name for Malahari. Like he has renamed many ragas, Gamakakriya is Poorvikalyani and Suddha Saveri is Devakriya, etc... There are some minor differences between the normal version of these ragas and Dikshitar's version, but nearly they are close. He has mixed some hindustani ragas that are close to the carnatic version of the raga and this made it slightly different. So Devakriya can be called Suddha Saveri but the phrases are different though the svaras are the same. Devakriya takes some phrases from raga Durga as well and so it is different.
It comes within the Song as well. Definitely Kannada Bangla, according to Sri Dikshitar himself !!! Listen to the song, after 'Guru Guha', 'Kannada Bangala' are in the Sahityam.
Yes, his mother is the niece of Vidwan Sri Lalgudi Jayaraman while veena exponent Vid Smt Jayanti Kumaresh is his aunt (mother’s sister). Not to mention that he's the Grandson of Vidwan Sri Palghat Raghu
The singer seems to exhibit his extraordinary talent of EXTREME UNNECESSARY BRUHAAs always than clearly pronouncing the words in any kruthi and has changed the original structure and tune by substituting his own Sangathis rather than singing the Sangathis composed by the Sacrad Saints. He does not respect the composers at all. Very sorry.

From 9:07, it's almost as if PSK has acquired a crystal ball in which he can foresee every pattern AR has in mind! Incredible!

Perfectly tasty Chocolate + milk +sugar! Brilliant combination- Patri playing Bhaskar and Raghuram!
Gives me goosebumps! Mind blowing rendering, wonderful accompaniments
He is the only singer who can turn any raga into an enchanting and devotional experience... Brilliant 👍
Sri Vaidyanathan Thambura Artist never fails to each an every part of Sri Abhisek’s singing, and the same can be seen from his body language.
I was moved to tears. Such a souful rendition 🙏

Awesome Anna! Never heard this song before.
ಅದ್ಭುತ ತುಂಬಾ ಚೆನ್ನಾಗಿ ಹಾಡಿದ್ದೀರ
Renuka Devi is set in the Ragam Kannada Bangala set to Khanda Chapu Thalam. Not in Malahari
Karnataka siddha saveri, I thought.
Only heard TNS sing Malahari before.
Fantastic 😊
Isn't this in Kannada Bangala as suggested by the raga mudra?
Srinidhi There is a rendition by DKJ in Kannada bangala and is absolutely soulful. Balaji Shankar is backup vocals.
TM Krishna says it is Mallahri.

To me this raga sounds like LAVANGI also. For a novice like me it is difficult to recognize subtle differences between closely resembling ragas.
Delightful!
excellent
Sir, is it not set in kannada bangala ragam?
It comes within the Song as well. Definitely Kannada Bangla, according to Sri Dikshitar himself !!! Listen to the song, after 'Guru Guha', 'Kannada Bangala' are in the Sahityam.
THIS RAGAM"MALAHARI" I AM ABTSULY CORRECT.

Is Abhishek related to Lalgudi Jayaraman?
Yes, his mother is the niece of Vidwan Sri Lalgudi Jayaraman while veena exponent Vid Smt Jayanti Kumaresh is his aunt (mother’s sister). Not to mention that he's the Grandson of Vidwan Sri Palghat Raghu

If he follows the style suggested by you he night not attract many listeners
Absolutely no clarity in pronunciation. Can't decipher the words he is singing.
It is crystal clear Pronunciation. I do not know what you cannot decipher.
