This reminds me of my holiday journey on the way to France, Dad noticed I was half dozing off with the motion of the car so he put the tape on as he knew that this was a possible sign of mild motion sickness. I shall never forget this association of the journey, perhaps symbolic
The Mighty Five of the Russian composers were Balikarev, Rimsky-Korsakov, Borodin, Moussorgsky and Cui. Tchaikowsky's music was essentially Westward looking.
Russian music as a whole tends to be of a very high standard. This and all pieces I have heard from the various members of the five aswell as a number of other Russian composers around the time, slightly afterwards and a long time before are excellent.
It probably can take shorter timer for Borodin to create something like this, but can you produce some better than this, I highly doubt that! Every time I listen to this, I am simply dragged into the beauty and cannot get out. Not to say that this is the best version of this.
besides there was usually somebody in his bed (they slept separately when they slept at all) and since all the chairs were usually taken he often slept on the stairway wrapped in an old shawl; she told him when to cut his nails, not to sing or whistle or put too much lemon in his tea or press it with a spoon; Symphony #2, in B Minor Prince Igor On the Steppes of Central Asia
the next time you listen to Borodin remember he was just a chemist who wrote music to relax; his house was jammed with people: students, artists, drunkards, bums, and he never knew how to say: no. the next time you listen to Borodin remember his wife used his compositions to line the cat boxes with or to cover jars of sour milk; she had asthma and insomnia and fed him soft-boiled eggs and when he wanted to cover his head to shut out the sounds of the house she only allowed him to use the sheet;
I can't understand, maybe it's because I'll listening on my phone, but it doesn't sound like as really orchestra to me...😵... The piece of music is great!
Coming from and growing up in Central Asia I could honestly say that Borodin's music does not sounds anything Central Asian. Use of occasional Middle eastern musical turns do not make up for Central Asian Music all together. Neverless, its beautiful Russian themed master piece.
@husker666 It's actually not. Those five composers did in fact get together at some point. Tchaikovsky is definitely the most famous Russian composer, but he was not a part of any group in particular. The same thing can be said of a group of French composers called "Les Six," since none of them are as famous as, say, Debussy or Ravel.
@hopelesscynic1 According to Wikipedia, it's Mily Balakirev, César Cui, Modest Mussorgsky, Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov and Alexander Borodin. You can start your investigation now. :-)
*has the worst government... I wouldn't say I'm able to judge about the whole Russian history, but I would doubt that the present government is really a progress. However, they're art is great! I especially like Mussorgsky and Rachmaninow, but there are so many other masters.
he could sleep only by putting a piece of dark cloth over his eyes in 1887 he attended a dance at the Medical Academy dressed in a merrymaking national costume; at last he seemed exceptionally gay and when he fell to the floor, they thought he was clowning. the next time you listen to Borodin, remember... "the life of Borodin" Charles Bukowski
We listened to this in school and I fell immediately in love😍it's a masterpiece
same to me! at first, we had to analyze the different types of music themes and then... i fell in love with this wonderful piece of music
love at first sight ! /listened/ in 1981 , our beloved teacher thank you for opening my ears and soul to real music.
Breath takingly beautiful.
I so agree with Regent University..Yes...He was one of the greatest Russian composers......his symphonies are gorgeous as well as this piece of music.
So awesome that I played this on english horn in my Symphony orchestra in my college

I've just heard the beginning of the song like three days ago and at night I dreamt of the music at about 3:40 I've never heard it before.
maybe you're from this part of the world
HERMOSO-BORODIN UN GENIO DE LA MELODIA
+Raul Jorge Estoy de acuerdo tienes más música en mi canal ^_^
That was great Alexander Borodin at his best
My favorite piece...
Wonderful performance.
I love this song. Russia had the worst government for a long time, but their music and art is FUCKING GREAT.

I love this song, but is this made with some sort of midi output? The trumpets sound fake to me. Or I could just be hearing something strange.

School
Das ist eine wunderschöne Einspielung. Von welchem Dirigenten und
welchem Orchester stammt sie ?
Curious, I did hear the noise at the beginning with my laptop but I don't hear it with another laptop I'm using now.
Moin wir haben es auch in der Schule gehört
Does anybody knows who the performers are (orchestra and conductor)?

The piece of music is great!
I always thought of Stravinsky as the most famous russian composer.
Please what tonality from composition?thank you
A major for the russian theme, A minor for the eastern one :3
What Happens at the end in Point of the Four Themes?

Perhaps it's more like a late 19th Century Russian's impressions. I don't believe he ever was in Central Asia. It is lovely, nevertheless.
🇧🇷 👍👍👍 ... ( cinqüenta e sete )

THANK's
I assume the five must be a generic term because I would have thought Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky the most famous of all russian composers.

And I always thought it was Rachmaninov. !!
