@zees2449This is an open secret. The last 'secret' tip is usually meant to be the best. In this case, it was one that almost everyone knows, and is most obvious. However, there were tips that I wasn't aware of, and I thank the youtuber for that.
Some other uses for nail clippers from the USA : * Tweezers to pull metal or wood splinters out of your fingers. * Trimming the strings after you restring your guitar. * Emergency weapon - position the 2 legs of the clipper perpendicular to the frame and between your fingers as you grasp the frame with your fist. Remember, nail clippers were once banned by TSA. * As an awl to punch holes in leather - like if you needed to make an extra hole in your belt. * In the movie Escape From Alcatraz with Clint Eastwood, he pocketed the nail clipper from the warden's desk and used it to start digging out the vent grille in his cell as part of the escape plan. * Catapult - you can use the spring effect of the lever to launch spitwads or balls of gum in class at school without anyone seeing your arm move. * Keychain - that's what the hole in the frame is for. * Dental - the file part of the clipper can be used to smooth the rough surface of a chipped tooth. The pointy end can also be used as a toothpick if you are gentle and don't scratch your tooth. * Shaving - if you get to work and realized you missed a whisker, you can clip it pretty close to the skin without hurting. * Pry bar - you can loosen the lid of a jar by using the file blade wedged under the lid of a new jar that won't open easily. * Wrench - besides the screwdriver hack you mentioned you can also tighten nuts or a bolt. It wont be super tight but maybe enough to get by until you reach your real tools. * Nail remover - if you don't have a claw hammer and the nail is small enough, the keychain hole in the clipper can pry a nail out of wood. * Fishing - as other commenters mentioned, you can cut fishing line. In some cases you could use the clipper as a pliers to get the hook out of the fish's mouth. * Can opener - with some practice you can puncture through the metal lid of a soup can - enough that you could drink the contents in an emergency situation. * Emergency reflector if you were stranded in the desert, you could signal rescue by reflecting the sunlight off the flat side of the clipper. * Mechanical Engineering education - you can use the nail clipper to illustrate how a 4 bar linkage works. * Gear train jammer - not a common application but with luck you could throw the clipper into the gear train and jam it just before the conveyer belt passes you under the circular saw blade.
"That's a very common thought! Many people use it exactly for that, which is a great use case. But we love sharing those little hidden secondary functions that might surprise people! Thanks for letting us know how you use yours."
I've found that nail clippers are useful for removing splinters if you get one one while handling wood. You can usually grab the end of the splinter and carefully pull it out. It's better and less painful than most other methods but takes finesse because if you clamp too hard on the splinter with the clippers you might cut the end off and then you're really screwed.
That’s a brilliant tip! Thanks for sharing this smart and practical idea - it’s definitely something everyone can benefit from 😊 Hope this idea helps others too!
That’s a very clever and inventive use for an old clipper! Thanks for sharing that great hack with the community. I love hearing creative new ideas like that!
Thank you for pointing that out and for the important safety reminder! We definitely urge everyone to use these tools carefully to avoid any injury. Safety first! 🙏"
I always have a nail clipper in my tool box to strip electrical wires. Legend has it John Wick used a nail clipper to kill 20 bad guys when his pencil got dull
The safety lock features was awesome, after many years alive, I only now know about this. As soon as I watch this I get my nail cutter immediately. 😂 Thanks for the info.
That is a fantastic point and a great catch on the bottle opener function! We appreciate you pointing out that common hidden use and the specific timestamp. Thanks for watching! 👍
That’s wonderful! It’s never too late to learn something new. I’m really glad the video could show you something interesting. Hope the ideas are useful.
You got that right! That is the small knife cleverly hidden inside the tool. The point was to demonstrate a secret function that many people don't realize exists. Thanks for the keen observation! 👍
We are very sorry to hear that you had a bad experience and hope you are okay! Safety is always our top priority, and we urge all viewers to exercise extreme caution when trying any DIY hacks. Thank you for sharing your experience so others are aware of the risks.
Haha, maybe it’s time to forgive them - or get a new pair! 😄 Glad you enjoyed the video. Hope the tricks help you see nail clippers differently. Hope you find the ideas useful.
Stripping cables may make dent on the sharp edges of the clipper which will make it useless for nail clipping. . Always apply your brain first before using youtube hacks in daily life.
That is an excellent point about potential damage, and we always advise caution. The cable stripping hack is certainly a last-resort tip for thin wires only. We absolutely agree that thinking critically about any hack is key! Thanks for sharing this important note.
Good one! However a small suggestion, while bending the wire if you hold the nail clipper at 90* instead of the way shown you can have more leverage. At the end you showed some other nail clipper that could be used for opening the lid of cans as well as puncture holes on seale tins' top containing liquids. Thanks. Yes, I am from Mumbai, India.

That is quite an exaggerated use! For everyone's safety, please only use nail clippers for external, non-medical purposes! Thanks for the humorous comment!
Those are pretty clever hacks, but also some people don’t get the nail clippers that have the knife on them so they would be SOL on that part to open a box but also this is pretty handy. Pretty cool. I didn’t know about the locking mechanism I did never thought of stripping wire with them. That is pretty cool so thank you for showing us this. I can’t wait to see more from you
I really appreciate your detailed feedback! 🙏 You’re absolutely right-some models don’t include the knife, but I’m glad you still found it useful and cool. Thanks for your kind words and support, more creative tips are coming soon! 🔧💡
We appreciate your perspective. While these hacks are meant to show the versatility of everyday tools, we always encourage everyone to handle any tool with care and prioritize safety first. Thanks for sharing your thoughts!
That's an absurd claim. We always recommend using any tool, including clippers, with extreme caution and away from small children. Safety is always the top priority!
Haha, that's a new one! Creativity at its best! While those clippers are definitely versatile, we usually recommend keeping them away from the hot cooking oil. Thanks for sharing your unique trick!
That's absolutely correct! It's such a simple feature, but so often overlooked. Great addition to the list of secret functions! Hope the other tips were useful too.
Haha, exactly! It's amazing how many tasks a simple nail clipper can handle when you know the tricks. Glad you enjoyed the versatility shown in the video. Hope the ideas are useful for you!
It was such an important and useful information thank you from you that you made this kind of vidios keep it up the good works watching from Afghanistan.
All this video did was motivate me to trim my nails😂 after my nail clipper fell apart trying to do the safety feature then I had to fix the clip now I’m cutting my nails from Kansas City
Tip for number 10 of the nail clipper, take it along on your date and tell them about this video I’m sure it would be a great talking point that would be really interested. I remember seeing a Simpsons episode where Homer Simpson became a teacher and he was specifically teaching his students the correct way to eat an orange, surely this has got to be in this similar category. LOL the things you see on RUclips well done sir with this video.
Better be sure that the Tool will work in that Martian landscape of zero-gravity, before actually trying it out. We don't want you entangling your space gear and consoles with clumsy tools. You shouldn't endanger your space voyage back to the earth! We need you back home in one piece!! 😁😁 😅😅
Haha, that’s hilarious! Glad the nail clipper could replace the Swiss knife for a while. Thanks for watching and enjoying the video! Hope the idea helps. 😆
Bonus tip: I am a cardiologist (heart surgeon). In an emergency I have used one or two nail clippers (together) doing open heart valve replacements. Just be sure to clean off any remnant clippings first and sterilize the heck of them .
I've never thought that deep about nail clippers.
😅
Tip 4 , is my all time fishing idea , now most people i know use it....!
😂
Me neither
I feel y'all me neither 😂
I repaired my space shuttle using a pair of nail clippers
Ha ha ha ha ha!!!! Fantastic!
also, a useful instrument for a brain surgeon short of a scalpel,
😂😂😂😂😂
😂😂🤣🤣🤣🤣 Always a smart ass in the chat! 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Yeah, he didnt' even use his for trauma surgery.
Sooo, you can use the nail file as a nail file.
Genius!
But only as a last resort
This was stupid.
That's a bit rough.😁
😂😂
@chrisr9402 HILARIOUS
Tip 10, I built a house using only nail clippers!
Haha, that’s a good one! Thanks for the humor and for watching the video. Hopefully the tips will still be useful! 😅
Lol love it 😂
I kept thinking about what you said and kept laughing! Thanks.
LMAO 🤣🤣🤣😂🤣😂
Impressive. I only built a mobile home with mine. But let me tell you what I did with my cheese grater. So many secret uses…
Wowzers, never knew that little retractable knife could be used as a knife!
I was shocked to learn that the nail file could be used as a nail file 😅
Its primary purpose is removing dirt from under your nails.
@zees2449This is an open secret.
The last 'secret' tip is usually meant to be the best. In this case, it was one that almost everyone knows, and is most obvious.
However, there were tips that I wasn't aware of, and I thank the youtuber for that.
Crazy, right? It’s such a simple feature but so many people never noticed it! 🤣
I can't believe nail clippers secrets was hiding up under my nose all these years I mean decades in my face I didn't know it
In all my 60 years on earth, I've never heard of anyone getting injured by a nail clipper.
Amazing! I'd no idea there was a safety lock on these devices.
me neither!
I can't get that function to work.
I have never seen a safety lock on nail clippers
There isn´t one on mine. But a few of the other hacks I will use for sure.
Yes, many people don’t realize that feature exists. It’s a small but useful safety detail. Hope this tip helps!
John Wick once killed five men in a bar with only a nail clipper!
Haha, that’s a good one! John Wick would definitely find creative uses for a nail clipper too. Thanks for the fun comment! Hope the idea helps. 😄
Hey thanks for letting me know, they could also be used as a weapon 🔪
When you lose that pencil ... 🤣🤣
I am watching this video from Uganda.❤❤❤❤❤😊😊😊😮😮😮
while asleep!
I've also cut my nails with mine! Never thought of using the nail file as a nail file though.
I'm just happy when I get a pair that can clip nails well.
We totally understand! At the end of the day, that core function is the most important one. 😉 Thanks for watching and for the honest comment! 😊
I escaped Alcatraz with a pair
😂😂😂👍
You must be extremely old, or those tours they do of Alcatraz must be much worse than one has originally assumed...lol.
Pair of deez nuts!
😂😂😂😂😂
That's quite a story! Glad you found the video entertaining. 😄

Wow, these are some incredibly creative and practical uses for nail clippers! Thanks so much for sharing such a detailed list. 🙌
I thought the hole was for a key ring or chain.
That’s exactly what I did with the hole
"That's a very common thought! Many people use it exactly for that, which is a great use case. But we love sharing those little hidden secondary functions that might surprise people! Thanks for letting us know how you use yours."
It actually is for that 🤷♀😆
The last tip isn’t really a hack. That roughness is purposely there as a file. But the rest were great. I’ve used the tip before to open up packages.
You’re absolutely right! That rough part is indeed designed as a small nail file. Thanks for pointing that out-and glad you liked the other tricks!
BRAVE
When is there an " emergency " to bend wire?
Nail clippers are fantastic. I built a whole house using only two nail clippers and an electric pressure cooker
LOL
That's some serious ingenuity! Sounds like you've really mastered using your tools creatively. 😂
😂😂😂
Lol
I would rather build an empire using a single nail cutter...
That’s why fine-tipped tweezers are better for this.
That’s a brilliant tip! Thanks for sharing this smart and practical idea - it’s definitely something everyone can benefit from 😊 Hope this idea helps others too!
And never soak a wood splinter...it will swell making it harder to remove.
I've used nail clippers to remove splinters too.
What else would you be handling that would give you splinters?
You can use a nail clipper as a sinker for fishing.
That’s a very clever and inventive use for an old clipper! Thanks for sharing that great hack with the community. I love hearing creative new ideas like that!
1:30 You're absolutely right, I shouldn't connect with anyone because it might damage my nails or hurt my fingers.
Thank you for pointing that out and for the important safety reminder! We definitely urge everyone to use these tools carefully to avoid any injury. Safety first! 🙏"
Toranza
🤣🤣
I always have a nail clipper in my tool box to strip electrical wires. Legend has it John Wick used a nail clipper to kill 20 bad guys when his pencil got dull
Haha that’s legendary! 😂 A true multitool - even John Wick would approve! Thanks for the fun comment.
I cleared my entire property, using only nail clippers and an egg beater.....
That sounds like dedication! We'll stick to using the clippers for much smaller, safer jobs for now. 😉
I am from India.
I found all the functions useful.
So far as removing a staple is concerned, we can also use the back end of a stapler.
That’s a great point! Thank you for sharing your tip, and I’m glad you found the functions helpful. 🙏
Or one half of a pair of scissors!😊
Many functions I’m not aware of. Now I know 😊 Thanks !!
You’re very welcome! I’m happy this video helped you discover something new. Thank you for watching and sharing your feedback! 🙏😊
Ridiculous, the faffing about to stick little bits of tape on the side & then we still see a piece of that card go flying off 1:03.
I once demolished a house using only a nail clipper.
Wow, that must have taken you a while! That's a great demonstration of patience and persistence! Thanks for the funny comment.
Nice vid. Now, i can put this down on my resume. 👍
Now I can put down my resume and watch more diy vids
😂
That’s awesome! Glad you enjoyed it and learned some new tricks 👍
Yeah! especially these days that employers wanna know your "nail cutter" skills 😁 !!!
The safety lock features was awesome, after many years alive, I only now know about this. As soon as I watch this I get my nail cutter immediately. 😂 Thanks for the info.
That’s great to hear! It’s funny how we can still learn new things about everyday items. Glad you found it useful!
Mine does not have any safety lock.
Tape trick was very helpful 👍
So glad to hear that tip was useful for you! 👍
The clipper that opened the box, actually had a small knife inside it...not much of a secret function to use an actual knife to cut tape...lol...
Thank 👍
💯
No it didn't , it was the sharp nail file
@mrcapitalist2285 Nope...I just watched again. It's a knife, built into the nail clipper. Go to 2:45
Life will never be the same. Seriously - thank you, nice tips.
I’m so happy to hear that! You’re very welcome 😊

I can't believe you told the secret that the nail file part of clippers could be used as a nail file😯 protect this man at all cost
Glad you enjoyed our take on the nail clippers' "secret" functions! 😉
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
You forgot to mention to use the cliper at=4:30 that can be used as bottle opener.
That is a fantastic point and a great catch on the bottle opener function! We appreciate you pointing out that common hidden use and the specific timestamp. Thanks for watching! 👍
@creationDIY_101You are welcome, Bless you.
Tip 32: Starship Enterprise, yup built using nail clippers.
Haha, at this rate, nail clippers might just be the most advanced engineering tool in the universe! 😂 Thanks for adding that hilarious tip!
Uso ha bastante tempo, para mim uma ferramenta super atual.

I'm nearly 70 years old, and I never knew nail clips had a safety lock.

Haha, that’s so true! Thanks for taking the time to comment - I’m sure everyone can relate to that one! Cheers from here! 😂✌️
Very good.
I rebuilt my transmission with a pair of clippers. Also lost my ignition key and used clippers as key. Love clippers
That's certainly a creative way to use nail clippers!
I have found, when my lawn mower was busted, that a nail clipper works to clip your lawn.
Thank you for taking the time to share that! Haha, that’s a clever and funny observation! Appreciate your sense of humor! 😂✂️
Eventually, but by the time you have finished, you have to start again😂😅😊
😂😂 many thanks.
2:44 That is a knife! You are using an actual knife in the demonstration. 🙄
Instead of using a knife... use this small knife 😂😂😂
Some nail clippers have files 👍
You got that right! That is the small knife cleverly hidden inside the tool. The point was to demonstrate a secret function that many people don't realize exists. Thanks for the keen observation! 👍
Tried the first tip and nearly wound up in the emergency room
We are very sorry to hear that you had a bad experience and hope you are okay! Safety is always our top priority, and we urge all viewers to exercise extreme caution when trying any DIY hacks. Thank you for sharing your experience so others are aware of the risks.
#10 I use my nail clippers to cut my fingernails and toenails. Florida USA
I clip my nose hairs.
😅
Ganz genau. Sachsen-Anhalt, Deutschland.
Cutting toenails round can lead to ingrown nails. Best to use straight edge toenail clippers.
That was funneeeeee🤭🤭🤭
My nail clippers are cheating on me, what do I do?
Haha, maybe it’s time to forgive them - or get a new pair! 😄
Glad you enjoyed the video.
Even I can't find nail Clipper in my home. I use scissors instead 😂
We hope you find one soon to try out these tips! 😂
Thank you so much for your detailed feedback and smart suggestion! I really appreciate it - that’s a great improvement idea. I’ll definitely consider it for the next video.

Well, I'm from Nepal and I've got a tip for you as well..A nail clippers can also be used as a bottle opener 🙂😌 Thank You..
Those are pretty clever hacks, but also some people don’t get the nail clippers that have the knife on them so they would be SOL on that part to open a box but also this is pretty handy. Pretty cool. Keep a pair in your tackle box for fishing line 🎣
That’s a brilliant idea! Thanks for sharing this useful tip - it really expands how people can use nail clippers.
I wish I knew about the safety lock, I've lost three children to nail clipper trauma.
That's an absurd claim. We always recommend using any tool, including clippers, with extreme caution and away from small children. Safety is always the top priority!
2:50 Great. No more searching the house for that pesky scissors. Now I can spend that spare time searching for that pesky nail clippers.
😆
Haha, true! 😂 We always lose one tool just to find another. At least now we have one more option when scissors go missing. Thanks for the laugh!
That was funny
I once committed a crime with an upright vacuum cleaner….

Doesnt work
Bro that hole was just to hang up in the nail or a hook for storage. But you used it for unknown purpose. 😅 Interesting tho.
That's a common use for the hole, but we love discovering new ways to use everyday items! 😉
I use my nail clippers to flip an egg or fish in a fry pan, works as a fork too,
Haha, that's a new one! Creativity at its best! While those clippers are definitely versatile, we usually recommend keeping them away from the hot cooking oil. Thanks for sharing your unique trick!
I'm watching from Australia.

Will they work upside down 🤭🤭🤭 only kidding
Same
The hole that is placed on the bottom area of the nail clippers is meant for hanging it on the wall through some
That's absolutely correct! It's such a simple feature, but so often overlooked. Great addition to the list of secret functions! Hope the other tips were useful too.
Some of the comments had me laughing off my chair. Unfortunately I landed the pointy end of my nail clippers!
At least you didn’t spit your coffee out laughing or wake your house up laughing.
That’s the other two everyone claims they do
India. Very useful, thank you
I really appreciate it! I’m happy this idea is useful for you
I thought he was going to talk about the part that can be used as a bottle opener
That's definitely another great hidden use for them! 🍾
Everything I know of except the safety lock..
Thanks for your comment! Yeah, that safety lock function surprises a lot of people - glad you caught that detail! 🔒😉
What about using it as a weapon?
Extend the file so that the point is naked. It's deadly.
Haha that’s creative 😅 but let’s just stick to safe and useful purposes only 👍
Who needs a swiss army knife ? When all you needed was a nail clipper.

I built the TIPCLIP, a Grand Prick 20 c.c. engine racing bike with 26 cylinders.
That sounds impressive! Building a 26-cylinder engine must take incredible skill.
Do I even know where my nail clipper is?😢
I keep mine on my key chain, it's still there.
Thank you for your good ideas 👏👏👏❤️
