You, my friend, have a magic touch with that hammer. I have made gaskets before with exacto knives and tiny scissors but mine were very crude compared to the ones you produced.
Thanks, yes I also used small scissors, etc and they never turned out. My dad actually showed me this method one time and it works very well. Thanks for watching!
Skillful execution ❤️ ,but I'm afraid to tap with a hammer, maybe a hard plastic mallot or tiny metal hammer, because my head is aluminium. Using a knife is so dangerous. Rtv's a mess to clean up.
Thanks, I have done this same technique on a aluminum hydraulic pump and it worked great with no damage done to the aluminum. You might be able to use a small hard plastic hammer? But I have no experience with that. You don't want to hit it very hard, you just want to hit on the outside edge and kinda glance of the side of it. I do see why you are worried about damaging the aluminum head, that is something you don't want to mess up. Yes I hate cleaning up Rtv, normally i use a Razer blade but it still isn't easy. Good luck with your project and let me know how it turns out 👍
I looked up gasket making and saw you were making one for the exact same carburetor I’m working on. Well done.

What gasket material did you use
I bought if from Napa but you can buy gasket material from any farm store
Thanks for watching 👍
how thick is the paper?
@ctjohndeere
You can buy rolls of "gasket" material.
You can also use pop box or cereal box cardboard, but it isn't as good but works in a hurry
Which kind of hammer you used ?
I used a small ball long hammer, you want to use the round side of the head
Thanks
Where did you get the gasket material?
I got it from Napa but I think you can get it at about any farm store
