What is the thinking on cutting down the top ply? I'd have thought more just makes is slightly stiffer and heavier, and there is no height/clearance issue, so might as well go with 1/2inch or 3/4inch (whatever on hand)?
John, I really appreciate your time, effort and especially your talents/ abilities. I've been watching your videos for nearly two years now and I include you in my top 5 makers who've impacted my life in a very positive way. Thank you again for sharing your creativity and experience with all of us. All the best in all of your endeavors.
John, thank you for making your plans very thorough and not over priced. I have bought a number of your plans and I will to continue to buy the one I find interesting and useable in my shop. Thanks for sharing
You are one of the best things on RUclips. Your innovative style is awesome. So glad we have this avenue for people like you to create entertaining and educational content. Thank you sir.
Again a great build. Suggestion: cut at the beginning and and 2 slots on the top part of the jig. That way you could install 2 spacers for your saw when lining up your jig . After you are set and clamped you can remove the spacers and start cutting . You can build different spacers depending on your tools
I bought ur fence plays about a year and a half ago..and it's awesome it deserves a award thanks for all ur plans it helps a lot I bought the Kobolt job saw and the fence was sorry so i seen urs and I took and replaced the top and build ur fence and it's like a 800$ saw now lol just from ur fence thanks a lot....
Nice. Simple. Effective. Generally I find cut offsets to be tool and blade dependent, and tend to label said tool-blade combination rather than the jig/fence.
Exactly what i needed back when i made a small shelf. Altho i got away bsck then with a long wood plank and a pair of clamps, it wasnt much of a comfortable solution. Going to build now this idea you gave us. Thank you a lot!
A set of three aluminum guides were one of my first Rockler purchase. Really love those things and your wooden one is very well made. I shelled out for the larger clamp surfaces you screw wood jaws on. I absolutely love that they're wide enough to be the saw offset. I also bought the nice solid plastic saw guide for it and even ignoring the guiding it provides it has zero clearance you cut yourself where the blade teeth are so I avoid chip out. Love how easily you made making a guide look.
John, I am going to get your plan and make one of these as a birthday gift for my son. I was thinking that making this zero clearance would be awesome. Love your creativity..
Nice work but I think maybe your sliding stop block should be a few itches wider on each side of the f e n c e itself in order to help it square up easier and quicker just a thought.
Very nice and very useful. -John, glue some rough-grit sandpaper (like grit 40 or 60) on the clamps or the underside of the guide (keep 1cm or so clear on both sides).
Great Gadget! To improve it and make it easier to set up I would make two blocks that slides over your guide which has the offset markings for your circular saw, Router and Jigsaw
I don't know if it has ever happened to you......synchronisation! Out of the last five build projects you have posted, I have been thinking about four of them concurrently. I did not purchase your new disc belt sander plan becuase just a couple of days before you posted your video I had purchased your plan on the older version which is suitable for a drill. But I did purchase your straight edge plan today as it was just the thing I wanted. And I also wanted to share with you that I built your older wooden K clamps. I built one and am mightily pleased with it. I am going to build five more now :-) And there are so many more of your projects I am planning to build. Somehow my style of working and thinking matches the most with you...so far 😀 Thanks for all your sharing. Helps me tremendously as I learn only from You Tube. Self taught basically. Man...when are you going to stop getting new ideas !
Always amazed with how comfortable you are with having your fingers near the blade, shows your years of experience! Always makes me shudder😂 Keep up the good work👍🏻
I actually like this I have been looking at modifying my storew bought cutting guide that is king of a pain because it is set up by clamping both ends with a clmap walking back and forth to take it on and off
John again you've solved a problem for me. I've had an aluminum straight-edge clamp for years but it uses cam clamps underneath which have to be threaded on to the correct thickness.....A MAJOR PAIN IN THE ASS....I'm going to buy your plans but only use the clamp system mounted to my aluminum rail. Thanks for sharing your experience and capacities.
I bought your Fence plans for an older cast craftsmen saw ,with a nice 2 hp motor ,the saw weighted a ton but cut like a dream ,for the price of the high dollar fences ,yours was well worth the small price you asked for it ,BTW still waiting for you to do a home version of a track saw /panel saw
oh this is perfect. Im gonna add 4-5 lasers diodes with 4-5 buttons to activate each one.. or some touch thingy.. so that you can pre adjust this lasers for every tool (jig saw, skill saw.. etc ) - each with their own offset - and with a push of a button you know exactly where to position this line based on the line measurment you wanna cut and the laser beam :)
Instead of writing the offset on top of the jig for various tools, you could make another "jig" that sits over your guide that extends over the sheet goods you are cutting with all your common tools offsets marked on it. If you make it out of acrylic, you can view your mark on the sheet goods and line it up with the mark on the acrylic "window". This way you don't need to make extra measurements or add/subtract the value of your offset each time.
John, nice video! I like it very much. What do you think about making one part of the bearing blocks of the cam wider so the circualar saw cuts it to the exact measurement from the straight edge? It would indicate the saw kerf like on commercial track saws and you don't need to add the distance from the blade to the fence to the measurement you are going to cut. Aligning the straight edge would be a little easier. It's just an idea! Greetings from germany Josch
You could make a slight change and not need to mark or measure the offset for the saw. layer in a thin like 3/16" thick piece of ply on the bottom that can even just be screwed in to be replaced if needed. then with it hanging out just run the saw long the fence to cut it, then you have a self clamping door board. Add a second piece on the other side, and you could have one side for the circular saw and one side for the jig saw.
Hmm, I wonder . . . There should be a way to include a slide so that you can place your table saw right into the slide and not worry about keeping the guard against the fence. My last guide gave out a while ago, so I definitely need a new one. I think I might give this a try!

instablaster.
hands down by far the best thing you’ve designed and built to date ..i cannot believe this does not already exist its so simple it’s beautiful.
Every time your hands come close to one of your various saw blades, I wince.
John,

If you're going for greatest RUclips comment of the year you're looking good
You never fail to find a way to make things better, simply by design. This right here is classic Heisz "mechanations in wood."
The best one can get on the Internet!
Your fence gets an award from me. I've built two for my saws and they work flawlessly.
cameronl62 I bought the plans a month or a few ago. Just not had chance to build yet. Looking forward to it though :)
When the carpenter is creative, he crosses all limits! Fabulous
John, thank you for making your plans very thorough and not over priced. I have bought a number of your plans and I will to continue to buy the one I find interesting and useable in my shop. Thanks for sharing

awesome build John! I will never understand why videos like this get thumbs down by viewers.
Can vouch for the table saw fence. I bought the plans and built the fence about 1 year ago. It works brilliantly.
Again a great build. Suggestion: cut at the beginning and and 2 slots on the top part of the jig. That way you could install 2 spacers for your saw when lining up your jig . Love this. Straight edge clamps are incredibly handy.
Thanks! Definitely worth having one around.
I am one of your followers from Egypt and admire all your works
Izzy and John on the same day. WOW!!!!!
This would be amazing to build into a zero clearance circular saw guide, what a timesaver, Great job Mr Heisz.

Just a guy how likes handy things. You sir make very handy and useful things
....soooo exact work !!! BIG COMPLIMENT !!! out of Switzerland !!

Nice guide. multi uses. Thanks for sharing sir. Greetings from California
Awesome video and project. Your videography and production just seem to keep getting better and better :)
Well done step by step explaining 👏👍
Very nice and very useful. -John, glue some rough-grit sandpaper (like grit 40 or 60) on the clamps or the underside of the guide (keep 1cm or so clear on both sides).
I love this design! I will be building one of these for my shop soon.
Thanks for sharing!
Love your table saw mini sled. For those that don't know this is an excellent way to make this kind.of cut. I hope to build this today.
Very nice project and video. The simplicity of the design makes it really great. Thanks.
Awesome sauce. You are the Table saw master 👍
I have one of those cheezy aluminum and plastic guides from Princess Auto, but this one looks far better. Have to wait for spring to build it!
Great Gadget! To improve it and make it easier to set up I would make two blocks that slides over your guide which has the offset markings for your circular saw, Router and Jigsaw
I use sketch pencils as well for marking. If you use the 4H or harder lead, a fine point is retained longer.
A nice simple guide to build this thanks
John, it's amazing. Congratulations.
Thank you :)
Handy tool to have around the workshop, thanks!

Man...when are you going to stop getting new ideas !
Writing the offset on it is genius!
Great project! I've wanted a commercial one for years. But this may be the answer.
I wish I was as good as this, you are a genius
resawn plywood..... these are the things I come here for! Next challenge, book match it... (Love your stuff, keep it coming)
Always amazed with how comfortable you are with having your fingers near the blade, shows your years of experience! Always makes me shudder😂 Keep up the good work👍🏻
ouaaaaaaaaaa super idées je découvre encore et encore même a 60 ans . merci pour les idées et la vidéo
Great idea I will definitely be making one in the near future. Thanks for your efforts.
Alright! Was waiting for these plans. Gonna get them now.
Me gusto mucho su proyecto lo encuentro muy útil para hacer cortes rectos lo felicito
I actually like this I have been looking at modifying my storew bought cutting guide that is king of a pain because it is set up by clamping both ends with a clmap walking back and forth to take it on and off
Really cool idea
Огромное спасибо. Это очень полезная и удобная, простая в использовании вещь.
Отличное приспособление!
Did you really resaw plywood?! Never would think of trying this. Mind blown
My thought too. I have NEVER seen anyone do this before.
I wish I could spend the rest of my life just building things like this and using them all day every day
That's what RETIREMENT is allllll about !!!
To build more "things that makes other things"
Fuck a 9 to 5
You make a lot of good ideals come to life.
Neat like it it’s gotta b quicker than a straight edge and two quick clamps which we’ve been using for years
John again you've solved a problem for me. Have to admit I like your table saw fence.
Excellent project! I'm convinced there is nothing you cant fabricate! I keep waiting for you to make a plunge cut track saw lol
Brother, you're a genius. Thanks for uploading. Big thumbs up.
Your designs are excellent and I always enjoy your videos. Thanks for sharing!
Going to have to get the plans for this one. I have a Harbor freight verison and it sucks.
As always, a home run. Thanks for sharing John.
Another nice video Mr John
You never cease to amaze me John. Thank you for all you do! 👍
Another clever build. Thank you!

Excelente. Listo para realizar esta herramienta.
Another cool and useful video. Thanks John!
love your videos John (a fan from belgium)

Another great project completed extremely well. Would love to see a riving knife on your saw, freaks me out a bit.
Great idea John!
I can vouch for the table saw fence, love it
Price winning videos! Needed this two years ago :) :) :)

Pure genius sir. I have subscribed.
Very good John! Thanks.
Thanks for this....it will make my life also way easier in the shop....
Cool jigga there john no more excuses for my wobbly cuts once i make this 👍. I saw the new mini compass in there too . I best make that first 👍👍
Excellent, I'll be buying these plans for sure.
Fantastic. Thnx for sharing.
Very nice. I like it.

Great job on the clamp John! Thanks for sharing the video with us.👍😎JP
That's one handy thing!
Beautiful stuff, John.
Good job mate .i want one😁
Excellent build!
Thanks for sharing
Hmm, I wonder . . . There should be a way to include a slide so that you can place your table saw right into the slide and not worry about keeping the guard against the fence. My last guide gave out a while ago, so I definitely need a new one. I think I might give this a try!
That’s awesome! Great work as usual!
Was wondering why I couldn't see the Subscribe button then... Because I already am! Great videos fella 😁
