For those who don't know, the most accessible and consistent way of gaining mining xp on stranded is to simply just mine cobble in a cobble generator for about 110k xp/h with an optimal setup. These rates are ridiculously low compared to that of a normal profile in the dwarven mines or crystal hollows, and it would take over 1000 hours of nonstop mining to go from mining 0 to mining 60 doing this. At the time of writing this, that is more than half of my entire playtime on this profile. A slightly better way of gaining xp is to place as many diamond minions as possible, fuel them all with fuel flesh, and simply just mine the diamonds that they produce manually. This gets around 250k-300k xp/h, but I highly doubt that there is a single stranded player with enough leftover foul flesh to fuel an entire mining 60 grind. The mining xp method with the best rates is to get 2 silexes and apply them to a diamond pickaxe, which will make it possible to instantly mine any ore. You can then mix diamond minions or anything else you need more of into your cobble gen, and mine both cobble and that ore simultaneously for about 350k-400k xp/h. While this is consistent, doesn't require a limited fuel, and is actually somewhat bearable, the preparation takes an extremely long time as the only good way to farm hard stone in stranded mode is by just using hard stone minions. With all of this in mind, I decided that the least painful way for me to go for mining 60 would just be to place down some snow minions and wait. After a few months of fishing for these minions and letting them sit, afk setups were discovered for ice minions that would make them faster than snow minions by freezing water into ice in order to skip a placing action. I then grinded out a minion setup with 28 tier 11 ice minions using minion expanders and buckets, and then let them sit. It took over a year of waiting and occasionally afking to reach mining 60. Waiting wasn't difficult as I was already extremely burnt out of stranded due to the lack of support that the gamemode was getting from the staff team, but it sure did suck to not be able to use my minions for anything else. It also didn't help that hyper catalysts became unobtainable in 0.14, and were fixed immediately after i finished this project. My original plan was to prepare for every derpy by getting enough hyper catalysts to last an entire skyblock year, but when they became unobtainable I didn't really have any ways of making the wait shorter.
To the 5 stranded players reading this, please don't bother with this, ever. It's miserable. If you are super desperate for completion and have no choice, then take the Lascivi route as it's much faster and probably infinitely more enjoyable than watching paint dry for over a year.
