Richmond - The Original Film, 1979

The film (on Super 8 stock) was shot in Richmond, North Yorkshire, February, 1979. The project, devised by Colin Davis, Michael Blackburn and Geoffrey Mark Matthews was to create a short documentary of the place where Blackburn and Matthews had both attended school.
Only a small amount of editing took place and the film lay untouched for the best part of forty years until it was rescued and digitised by Colin Davis. The idea for the joint exhibition-installation arose from the three artists rewatching the original film after four decades.
The film, on a permanent loop, formed the centrepiece of the exhibition, which took place at the Sam Scorer Gallery in Lincoln, 9-20 July, 2019.
