I love the PP/DE combo even more than PP/EC. Errol is a wonderful guitarist, but Phillip is a very strong guitarist himself and has a unique style all his own that deserves to be showcased. Phillip is a lot more than a background rhythm guitarist singing lead vocals, and showcasing that will add to his artistic credibility. Plus, Dave is such a virtuoso on cello and clearly has great music chemistry with Phillip.
Well he's currently taking the Idol producers to court to get out of his contract, so if he succeeds he'll be free soon. But, being similar to someone who happened to come first doesn't mean he copied.
Don't get me wrong I think Phillip Phillips is very talented. But I honestly think American Idol knew who is going to win soon as he walked in. I love dmb and I love Phillip Phillips stuff but I hear a lot of dave riffs and his music I play guitar. I can tell that Dave Matthews was a big influence on him and there's nothing wrong with that. But I'm sure once he gets his own record deal he will be fine I'm rooting for him...:)

mog dor I think you're missing the point. If that's the case, then everyone copied someone at some point. It's ridiculous. That style, the dancing, the facial expressions come naturally to Phillip and if you can't see that, you're blind. It IS, believe or not, possible to just naturally have the same style as someone without copying them!
