- HOW DIFFERENT MOTORCYCLING WAS IN 1982 WHEN I BOUGHT THE GS1100E BRAND NEW. NOSTALGIC MEMORIES OF THE TIME FILL THIS RIDE VIDEO AND IF YOU GO WAY BACK YOU WILL AGREE THAT WAS A TIME WHEN MEN WERE MEN.

VERY COOL TO KNOW THEY HAD THEM IN AUSTRALIA. 44 YEARS AND EXHAUST STILL FINE.
ALL THE BIKES OF THAT ERA HAD PERSONALITY AND I AM BLESSED TO HAVE ONE FROM EVERY TEN YEAR PERIOD IN MY HUMBLE COLLECTION.
YOUNG RIDERS WILL NEVER KNOW WHAT THEY MISSED.
NORTHERN NJ AND LOWER NY HUDSON VALLEY LOADS OF NICE ROADS AND VERY SCENIC.
INTERCHANGABLE TO MANY BIKES BACK THEN,yes the seat is great on a long ride or short.
FASSSSST AND VERY VERY SWEET.
SOUND IS ALWAYS IN THE EYE OF THE BEHOLDER,or rather the EAR.
MANY BIKES USED THESE,these were the best I had during the restoration. On a GS you can use a FRONT ROTOR in back and save a few pounds of unsprung weight.
I owned a GS1000G, the slower touring cousin. Great bike. Fill the 5 gallon tank, ride until you were low on gas. Fill and repeat. Younger riders don't seem to be interested in touring. Made many week-long trips on my Suzuki and 750 Kawasaki.
YOUNG GUYS LIKE TELEPHONES AND VIDEO GAMES,maybe if I were young I would too?
GS 1100E ..fassst and sweeeet !
My avatar is of the 83 1100E I had. It had the Vance and Hines 4 into 1 and the carbs modified with Dyno Jet kits. It sounded so good. People not into motorcycles complimented the sound. Young Guys into Import Tuner cars complimented the sound
One of the most beautiful motorcycles of all time! Thanks for the video! I bought a new 1981 Yamaha Seca 750 and put that giant round Suzuki headlight on it to improve its looks. I liked the shaft drive of the Yamaha.
It looks like it would do well in the valley roads here despite its size. When i was 12 there was one of these in pieces all over the garage floor as my brothers project, i used to imagine riding it but it was sold before I was old enough too.
I used to have that exact bike. In Australia it was called the GSX1100EZ but identical in every way. I'm amazed that you still have the stock exhaust as they tended to rust out. Your bike looks amazing for a 40 yr old bike! Well done!
Well, throw me the keys to the GS is what I'd say! Always enjoy your GS videos, Windy. I still have my first bike. A 74 CB360 with drum brakes, needs work and hasn't run since summer of 80. But right now I'm eyeballing a MG CENTAURO or a BMW R1200C PHOENIX. Enjoyed the video Windy and RIDE SAFE OUT THERE!
Very cool bike. Strange to see the Yamaha badging on your brake calipers.
LUCKILY SOME STILL EXIST BUT ARE GETTING HARD TO FIND AS US OLD GEEZERS AGE OUT.
I LOVE WAFFLES.
Great vid. Back in those days I was on my brand new Yamaha 550 Seca, and remember well regarding the 1100's of the time with awe. My buddy got a "82 750GS and I was sort of envious of those insanely comfortable Suzuki seats. Nothing like them today that I can think of. Wide and Flat. What's up with the Yamaha brakes btw?
What area are you riding in? It look really nice for motorcycling.
Are the black stripes on the front fender standard? In Australia the front fender was a solid color with no stripes.
That bike is the shizz ,,, you new modern soy boy riders watching this video couldnt handle that machine , no rider aids to bail you out ... I wouldnt sell it either
Stop waffling
