So real. Many Asian parents, esp my Chinese parents, chose the successful business route instead. But man, I wish they were more emotional there for me when I needed them
As someone who works fast food, people can be unintentionally entitled and unkind because they don't view these things as gifts but as expectations. I use to give people free freezies or free cinnamon twists occasionally, but then I found out these same regulars were so use to just receiving them with their order that they assumed it came with the meals they were purchasing. They were screaming at my coworkers when someone else was working the drive through that wasn't me. And I once had one of my regulars scream at me because she thought an item another store gifted her was supposed to come with her meal and I was cheating her by not giving that item to her. It warms my heart reading these comments that there are still aware and appreciative people out there, but I am still so incredibly jaded.
I worked in fast food for years before escaping and people were horrid, I’m honestly surprised I didn’t come out jaded as hell. It was almost always older people too, acting like they don’t understand or that they’re being “scammed” in some sort of way because we can’t do something for them. I’ve had food thrown at me, been told to off myself over a milkshake…I’ve had to step in multiple times because they will scream at and cuss out the 14 year old employees over the most trivial things. Being jaded is one of the reasons why these people are so angry and miserable all the time, and I refuse to end up anything like that. Fight it, so we can be better humans than the generations before us.
This made me so emotional, my dad also had a medical practice of his own and couldn’t bare to go after clients for their bills so he took on the debt and eventually had to give it up after it COSTING him every month. This world is so hard to do the “right” thing to help others when you have to support yourself first but I can say with my whole heart, he taught me there is so much more to life than money and that peace comes from the joy you can bring to the people around you.
A lot of those people probably could’ve paid to put the bill wasn’t stressing them out, so they didn’t care to the money did the more service in their pockets. Unfortunately it was a disservice to your father.
My grandfather too ... Was a doctor and used to treat patients without any costs... There were days when his family could jst somehow manage 1 meal a day but he never charged a penny from the patients who couldn't effort ... And maybe that's why he is still remembered in his place .... ❤
I hope you know that your dad is a hero and men like him are rare. What a treasure. An absolute blessing from God. You should be so proud and I just know you’re a lovely person because of his influence and guidance. 🥹💕
This is analogous to people (like me) who try to make everyone else happy at our own expense. It doesn’t work. It’s actually better to charge more for a good product that people enjoy than it is to charge less to appease people’s wallets. But, for many, that doesn’t come naturally and they confuse profit with greed. That’s what I’ve learned anyway
I’m Filipino and we would go to this Vietnamese local restaurant often. My whole family would come - all 20+ of us, regularly. They always brought us complimentary desserts like mango and sweet rice and we always tried to offset the generous gift with a really good tip. Not only was the food delicious, but being treated like real family was a huge reason we kept coming back for 22 years.

Fathers who don’t understand the difference between helping someone in need and being used & abused by those who take advantage of them cost their children a lot. I have one of those dads, too. He would help others when we were in need. People might remember him as a kind person, I remember him as a “people pleasing” person who is secretly in need of constant approval who also destroyed my youth.
True. I'm sorry your father would put the needs of other people above the needs of your family. Life has opened your eyes the hard way, I appreciate reading your comment because there's a lot of us out here continuing with that kind of behavior for a lot of reasons. We can only try to do better ourselves the hardest way and restore balance.
When I was a kid, there was this classy Chinese restaurant that my family always ate at for special occasions and the occasional Sunday supper. I was tiny, so I don't remember much, but I do remember it was owned by an older woman who adored me. Every time we came in, she would sit with me while we waited for our food and carve veggie/fruit flowers for me because they made me happy. She always refused payment for them. To this day, I still remember how to make radish flowers because of her. As an adult, I realize that was probably expensive and may have contributed to her restaurant closing. I also realize she has very likely passed on. Still, her kindness has stayed with me all of these years and her restaurant is a special memory. Maybe your dad's kindness also effected someone like that? He'll be in their heart forever as well even if the restaurant is gone.

Restaurants absolutely don’t operate on fine margins. The selling point of food is at least x10 the actual value. For example, you could make the same chicken breast veggie/potato plate for 3 dollars, while restaurants charge $30 for it. And bread and pasta plates are even worse, because flour is ridiculously cheap.

AM I THE ONLY ONE WHO SEEN THE HAIR ON THE TABLE THEN DISAPPEARS AND APPEARS STRAIGHT TO GETTING ROLLED??! *Bottom right Corner *
Not alone lol
They do this shit on purpose to get more comments + engagement :\ it's awful.
@@r4ts311 ohhh makes sense now
Bow - your father was a man of honor - these people had a greater influence than we know in life
there’s a hair in it
Yup
you're so right
Good eye
dude
Great tribute to Dad❤
I saw a one hair near that board 💀
There was also on hair inside the roll 😢
Yeah. I came looking for this bc I wasn't sure. I mean it can happen but still unappetizing to see.
I saw it by the board then it looks like one is inside spring roll when she is wrapping it 😢
Well, she is the one or her family is eating them. If she serves this for others, then it's a problem.
@sewalters1088 this a demonstration for promoting a book, so should be no hair rolled into the food
Dad was a good man! Bless his soul
Did anyone else see the hair on the right of the lettuce as she adds pork to the roll 😂
I can’t see it omg
The real reason for the failure of the restaurant! Haha just kidding.
Eh, just extra protein lol
@@thatcheechmami built in dental floss lmao
Your dad is an amazing person
Heart touching story
Aww, a tribute to Dad 💕 that's so sweet
Your dad's a man of simplicity. ❤
Spring rolls are definitely special and appreciate you sharing memories of your Dad
Answer is;
Because it's a Restaurant.
Dad sounds like a wonderful man!
I had a restaurant once and just gave all the customers every meal for free. They always left tips which kept me going for 9 days total.
❤
Love this story and what a tribute to your dad.
This is why I always say there is no such thing as a good billionaire.
Kind people just don’t have what it takes to make that kind of money… only the greedy and ruthless make it to the top because the rest of us are just trying to be decent people.
It’s sad that the world doesn’t work the opposite way, and kindness and generosity were rewarded with success… instead of the generous ones going broke because they refuse to take advantage of others for gain.
Celebritys: 😐
Lessons are just as valuable. Thanks for sharing 🙏
The restaurant failed because the food is horrendous
This is a both heartbreaking and heart warming story.
Thank you for sharing. You have my full attention 🙏🙏🙏❤️✨
That looks delicious! And your dad sounds like a sweet heart.
your dad had a heart of gold ❤
We need more people like your dad in the world. Obviously not the detriment of the family business but people who care.
Salute to your father!! He was a stellar success in humanity
🤮 This is the grossest combination imaginable. You’d come up with a better roll by just throwing darts at an ingredient list while blindfolded.
Your dad was a chill dude, i wish i was there to stod up for his businesses, tell my friends and have food there, i hate seeing family restaurants go down
Hair was present in the making of that dish 🤐
You must have a telescopic sight that you scrutinised the hair in that food. 😅
@@aliciasanchez5441 well yeah that wouldn't be acceptable in food and beverage standards that's why pple take multiple takes so that stuff isn't easily caught on the vid 😬
@@aliciasanchez5441 I'm sure the food was yummy tho
I went to Vietnam last December and I had a long piece of hair in my springroll twice during my stay.. 😅
@@avasd59 omgg 💀😶🌫️
YOUR DADDY IS SO SWEET!!HE WAS RICH IN SPIRIT!
I fucken knew this was just another ad for a cook book when it appeared on my feed its always the same lol
Your dad sounds like an incredibly caring guy, and those rolls looks really good
You folded a hair into your spring roll
Was looking for this comment! 😂
Your papa sounds awesome...very kind and caring. 💙💙
Why your restaurant failed? > Hair inside the food.
I saw the hair in the beginning 🤣
lol my friend told me and I saw it at the edge of the cutting board only. Then as she rolled it you see it at the corner of her hand… lol but the food looks good minus hair. 😂
@@ychanschao The food doesnt look good.
I love a story behind a great recipe like this! Your father sounds like a wonderful, generous man ❤ and the spring rolls look amazing!
WHAT THE HECK IS THAT???!! HUH??? WHAT IS THIS?? SHE PUT MANGO AND MEAT AND MILK TOGETHER????? WHAAAAHT
Dad's are the absolute BEST❤
Am I the only one who noticed the hair go in?
That is beautiful .it sounds like you dad was a wonderful person. and you are wonderful for honoring that of him
Mango and pork, never heard of that and is that chocolate syrup? 🤢
That’s a wonderful story. Your dad sounds like a good man. What a tribute to his kind heart. His restaurant sounds like a place I would have been a regular at.
Bro pork and mango rolls is diabolical
I love spring rolls. I used to make my own all the time. I think I'll start again. Thanks. Your dad was/is a fine man with a big heart.
Pork...mango...sweet sauce? Da hell? And what is that it is wrapped in, I assume it is edible?
Aww, bless his heart. It looks like he did a great job raising you. 👏
That's an insane combo, he was probably giving people indigestion. Mango, peanut butter & pork!? I can already feel my stomach bubbling😵
Not really...? I dunno maybe others have more sensitive stomachs.
You have to understand as a person who has supported many Asian business owners. Your dad is an absolute legend for this
Maybe it failed because of the hair @ 0:22
Really goes to show ehat will go the distance.
This reminds me of the 60k boss Dan Price. He saw the needs of his employees and sold much of his possessions to raise their salary. People criticized his decision but his company is doing well so far I've heard.
Kindness and compassion really go a long way.
Lol you accidentally wrapped a piece of hair in the spring roll as well. 🤫🤭
I saw that too. It was first laying on the table and right after that it was being wrapped into the food
