Villa is 100% a bigger club then Newcastle and that’s not disrespectful to say at all. Newcastle has one of the best fanbases in England that many clubs would be jealous of but that doesn’t mean they are bigger.
From the beginning of the Prem, Newcatsle has become huge, especially in the 90s. They were everyones 2nd favourite team and gained loads of new fans during that period. I'd say they are bigger than Villa. Bigger stadium. Eye test as well you see Newcatle shirts about. Not Villa shirts.
Plenty of fans outside of the Midlands. I've met Villa fans from Somerset, Yorkshire, London, USA, Canada, Australia and even India. We're a massive club with a massive fanbase.
The "Cornwall" point is a useless metric when defining what is and isn't a big club. If anything it proves that our fans are real fans as opposed to someone like Man United who's fans are mainly based in London in the UK and then obviously the wider international community - this is probably the main reason why we are consistently ranked amongst the best in the country when it comes to Home and Away atmosphere and support whereas Man UTD amongst others are ranked mid-table to the bottom of that list. I know of, online and elsewhere, of so many Newcastle fans outside of Newcastle, I mean c'mon the USA has a fair few, so does Australia and we are fairly ok in South America and Europe for fans too, granted mainly from Ex-Pats. In no way am I saying Villa isn't a big club, it is but if you were gonna also use the success and trophies argument then we could say we are bigger than Tottenham as we have won more trophies collectively - least to my knowledge - throughout our entire history. That is where that deluded fool is using recency bias to support an argument which should be based on history as a whole. That when paired with the size of our local, countrywide and international fanbases proves we can at least have the conversation and debate rather than acting like a child saying basically "no way" without entertaining a valid argument
Villa are bigger by every measure that matters - total trophies and titles, most recent trophies, level of titles (European Cup), and number of fans. Newcastle aren’t it.
So by your logic Liverpool are a bigger club than Man United as the trophies, league's, European cups , supercups, world club cups . It's a stupid argument

As a person from outside the UK this clip is quite funny because barely anyone got a clue who Aston Villa are or even where they are from 😅 Can guarantee you Newcastle are way more well known worldwide.
More well known for winning f all since the 50s lol, they can have that. I’ve seen my team lift trophies in the 90s, rather that than Newcastle’s nonsense. Go back to playing ultimate team
I’m an arsenal fan & saying villa is bigger then Newcastle just because they win a European club is ridiculous. Newcastle is a much bigger club. Go to a villa game they never feel out there stadium. Newcastle could’ve been relegated & they will still have a full stadium.
And saying a club is bigger due to bums on seats is also ridiculous. It's about the entire package. And it's not just the European cup, Villa have won more than Newcastle in general. Since they last won a cup on 1955 Villa have won 5 league cups a European cup and a super cup.
“Big club” is nothing to do with trophies. It’s to do with branding. The Newcastle brand from the 90’s still carries over to today and has left them far more known worldwide than Villa. I’ve literally never seen a Villa fan or shirt in my life outside of on the tv but have seen loads of Newcastle. Also did not “win the Champions League”. They won a European Cup 43 years ago that has no resemblance to today’s CL and is more akin to winning the Europa conference or Intertoto cup.
"Villa have more fans. Facts"...based on what? Not based on your average attendances. Not based on merchandise sales. Not based on sponsorship deals. I have never once seen a Villa shirt outside of Birmingham yet I have seen Newcastle shirts all over the world.
I used to like Tom but he has serious issues with our club. Our players overachieved this season and although in general aren’t team of the season quality, this season they’ve played to a level they have every right to be in and around the seasons best XI. We have a fan base that’s huge, 52,000 sell out every game, away games sell out instantly. I’ve not been able to get any tickets this season no matter how early I get into the website queues and this is the first season I’ve failed to get a ticket to a game. We had Bilbao and Atalanta in friendlies and sold them out easily. We’re not deluded, we are all aware our players aren’t as good as Alison, KDB, VVD etc. but the team of the seasons judged by that campaign and we had players who played better than other big names did.
The problem with this debate is that fan's like this villa fan ( tbh he comes across as a bully if you ask me as the loudest man in the room isn't the smartest man in the room ) they also get confused between history rather than the present, and they seem to talk about history to push they're agenda and narrative, not realising that history means you was big and in the present you are not !!!!!
There’s always going to be some angle for taking the piss out of fan bases. Man Utd get all your fans are from London, Newcastle get all your fans are from Newcastle, both said as a negative.
newcastle having a local fanbase isnt a negative it’s just an observation. newcastle fans consider themselves a big club because everyone in newcastle supports them whereas in most other major cities there’s a split

Tottenham have 2 leagues, 8 FA cups, 4 league cups, 7 community shields and 3 european trophies. Admittedly the leagues and european victories were in the 60's i believe, but the domestic cups provided a steady stream of silverware up untill the last league cup in 2008/-09. Loads in Ireland too I know this for a fact as I've lived there for 5 years
Lots of villa in Czech Republic they also have Prague lions that travel to most games every week.
Plenty of fans outside of the Midlands. I've met Villa fans from Somerset, Yorkshire, London, USA, Canada, Australia and even India. We're a massive club with a massive fanbase.
The American lions, the ghanian lions, The Ireland lions
When you say number of fans what actual fact are you basing that on.

More people know Shearer and Bobby Robson alone than Villa they’re a tiny club
