Back in the 90's when I was younger I got to go to a North Stars vs Blackhawks game at the old Met Center! 2 bench clearing brawls, and goalie fights! Was insane. Loved that old rivalry! But I believe that now it is a huge fine if teams clear benches, which is why you don't see it at all anymore.
I actually like the "if you come on the ice you get a game and fine rule. I dislike the "everyone involved in a 2nd or more fight gets a 10 minute misconduct" rule though. 1 I think helps the game 1 I think goes against what the game is.

Youngblood was our favorite movie to watch on the team bus. I also don’t know what he was talking about with Miracle. We had to skate ladders EVERY practice. In high school, juniors, college. Like... if I say I’ve skated 10,000 ladders I’m probably low. That scene in Miracle where he makes them skate ladders after the game happened to us IRL, because of the same reasons basically. 3 weeks after that happened, we were in the movie theatre as a team watching Miracle and were just laughing, blown away, we started calling our coach “Herb” after that.

Given the Detroit one wasn't a bench clearing brawl but I believe around 1988 the NHL put strict rules handing out suspensions to players who leave the bench to fight.
Lost count of how many times ive seen the Might ducks movies.. In the first movie there are seens with 6-7 Ducks skaters (not including the goalie) skating around checking the Hawks players. What I find funny about the breakdown of Miracle is with Auston continuously talking about how realistic the training sequence looked, while I guess not knowing that the "actors" for the players were actually hockey players that were taught how to act, instead of actors who were taught how to play ice hockey.
At the end of a philadelphia phantoms ( they either played the hershey bears or pittsburgh penguins. Im pretty sure it was bears though) game i went to over 10 years ago, there were fights all throughout the game. As soon as the game ended, both teams cleared bench to brawl. Craziest hockey game i ever been to. Penalties were enforced in the next game.

We did it in soccer too. It isn't a set play as much as it is a drill on filling space and making sure you are creating options for the handler.
