- It is being reported tonight that Diane Abbott - the first Black woman elected to Parliament - will not be allowed to stand as a Labour candidate in the general election.
She had been under investigation for anti-Semitic comments.
But another prominent Labour MP found out today she is in the clear.
Greater Manchester Police said they would take no further action against the party's deputy leader Angela Rayner over the sale of her council house in Stockport nine years ago.

I don’t like him either but your logic is interesting - are you implying that owning and renting property is offensive or should be made illegal? - because that could have interesting consequences for the housing market and the homeless - it’s crazy really - the politicians make it more and more unattractive to own and rent property and yet house prices don’t budge one iota and so people sell the property rather than rent it and more and more people find it almost impossible to find anywhere to live - this trend is happening but by and large goes unreported - it’s crazy really - I blame the media - they seem to enjoy providing the problems no matter how small they are but never seem to come up with any sensible solutions - have you got any?

Take note, the police chief constable (Stephen Watson) who reopened the case has very strong ties to the Tories.
Stephen Watson spoke at last year's Tory conference, is in email correspondence with the Tories who have been advising him, and has been recommended to be promoted to a leadership position within the MET police by a group of Tory backbenchers including one James Daly, who you may recall is the man who asked him to reopen the case.

Who involved the police when its not a police matter, its a matter for HMRC, who in these circumstances have more powers of arrest than the police do. HMRC should have stepped forward and overruled the police investigation and done their own, that's what stinks to be honest the fact that they didn't investigate.

They need to look into where these accusations against Rayner came from. I don't buy that a few random neighbours had a sudden memory jog about the living arrangements of a random women they lived near 9+ years ago. And instead of going to the police about it, they went to a Tory MP. All coinciding within an election year. If the neighbours reported a crime there should be witness reports or police interview records. I would love to see those made public, if they exist.

I'm open to being proven wrong with police reports or depositions of said neighbours but I don't think they're coming for some reason.

National Insurance pays for benefits, and for State Pensions. So going forward, there is less money for both. That means reform for who can access either thing in the future, and how much they can receive over X or Y a period, which means a longer working life for many (who will be 'lucky' to have a job (or 2,3) in the first place) and compulsory public service (of some sort) for those on severely reduced 'benefits'.
