- One of the best and memorable intros ever made for a video game. They did an amazing job.
The music is a remix called "Painful Morphium Mix (Oomph Remix)" by Oomph.
The original song is called "Painful" by the French band "Sin" (www.digital-sin.net).
You can find this remix on the "Transporter II" Original Soundtrack, or on the album "Reconstructed Singles", by Sin (I believe they're both on iTunes).

Dude, this game here has a special place in my heart. My dad and I used to play this game for HOURS and HOURS on end, doing the different modes. He used to let me catch up because I was such a bad loser haha! I love this game! It molded my childhood with FFVII, LoD, MGS & SoTN!

I remember the first time I got a PS One for Christmas, this was the first game i tried out. I remember hooking up the console on Christmas Eve, popping in the game disc and firing up the console AND HOLY SCHIIT THAT INTRO WAS INTENSE! Made a big impression on my adolescent mind.
i was about 5--6 years old i have become my first console with this game in it :) i was the happiest child on the planet and then after 2 years the cd was broken i was destroyed to the bottom :( now im close to 19 and have buy this game again :) and i am again the happiest man on the planet :p on this game are so much good memories with my old cousin and so :) i think it never will exist an game what makes me so happy when im playing it like v rally 2 :) if one doesnt know this game buy the ps1 version pc version isnt so well

Got this game with my PS1 back when I was 8. Remember thinking this cinematic was almost 100% photorealistic. Looking back, it's nowhere near real life, but they were damn good graphics for their time.

damn. i cant believe as a kid i used to look forward to getting up at 6-7am as a kid. almost the only time we were allowed to watch cartoons, as long as we made the parents a cup of tea and some toast for breakfast.
good memories. i sleep in to midday on weekends now unless i have somewhere to be, lol.

My dad had a 6th generation Toyota Celica, and I always imagined the Castrol sponsor on the body of the vehicle lol, well too bad the car was sold since too much engine problems. My favorite rally car was a 1998 Subaru, good ol' days with this masterpiece game. Especially the intro, after 19 years came back, played on age 7 still bring me the fkn goosebumps, welldone NFS.

I loved this game so much! I wish it was on the psn store. It was so exciting trying to keep your car alive long enough to make it to the end. And cockpit views on a ps1 game!

I had this game on the original PS then again on the DC, was a great game. I remember being captivated thinkin the upcoming Xbox would do graphics like this intro in real time, of course it dint work like that but it still had me hooked for a very long time. The DC and this game were a great combination, i just wish they would make another game on the current consoles.....

I mean, these guys were masters of all terrains... snow, dirt, mud, tarmac.... by today standards of course, it looks like a cga computer game (ja not quite, but very old), but back then it made a big impression... thanx for the vid!
