Great video. I would add to check the flywheel to make sure it's still at TDC (the "T" at the mark) before closing up the engine... It's not impossible for the flywheel to get turned/rotated while you're trying to get the rings and piston into the new cylinder. You should recheck it before lining up the camshaft and timing chain.
Hey, I wanted to thank you greatly for posting this video! Definitely the most comprehensive set of instructions I have found. I just performed the steps on a Kymco 2023 super 8 50x. They were pretty much identical with the exception of the housing had one extra bolt. Otherwise, it was spot on. I ended up using a zip tie to keep the chain safe and one mistake I made was not pulling the chain far enough out when I was trying to push the assembly back together. So the chain got caught a little bit nothing happened, but, just caution for anyone else when they were putting everything back together. Again thank you very much for a fantastic guide!

Thanks for the vid. Install the studs by jam-nutting 2 nuts snugged together on the stud, then us a wrench to seat the studs. Un-jam and remove the nuts. Pliers will F-them up.
Also put assembly lube on the cam, (both the bearings and the lobes). And for good measure, both contact points and the pivots of the lifters. Assembly lube is cheap, new parts are not - "An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure". May not be needed, but I always turn over any motors I work on by hand with the spark plug removed, to help pump a little oil before a hard start. These little motors are easy to do. BTW, great video. Only wish you did a before test run and an after, to see the difference.

I followed your video and installed a big bore kit, high performance large valve head and a A9 performance cam. Thank You! Yours was the best I've seen to do this. I'm going to put a big bore kit in my wife's scooter as well. On your video everything was stock except for the big bore kit. My question is do you think the larger valve head and big bore kit are worth it or does it add very little performance in relation to the added cost. I ask because you didn't bother with those upgrades. Also want your opinion of performance exhaust and heavier/ lighter rollers as far as actual performance high end or otherwise.
things to know you should put a bigger jet in the carb and I seen in your video you loosening the vales after you tighten the head down I would loosening them first so you get a good tor. on the head because if you do not then could be putting more pres. on the head bolts but grate video like it a lot I have just got a 50cc rally scooter looks like a VIP to me for 125 with looks like 1.2 because it was lay down first ride to me but not bad few little markand I have a 2008 vento triton 49cc that has a big bore on it and I had to jet it up to make it run right

Thank you for the views and comment. We will be launching rousemotorsports.com in February, and will be selling the best quality big bore kits. As it’s not necessary to up-jet the carb, it is most definitely best practice if you want optimal performance. In the very near future, we will offer a big bore kit that will include a high performance carb. Thank you for taking the time to watch and comment on our channel!
Thank you so much for sharing all your wisdom and experience. I l've got 2 fix my scooter engine it has no compression i think the piston has a hole in it or one of the valves is bad now you showing me how 2 rebuld the engine now im going 2 do mine thank you so much i loved youe video and God bless
Great video. My only gripe is that you shouldn't use assembly lube on the parts before install. It's going to get into your engine oil supply. You should use the normal engine oil that goes in the engine. That is what is going to be lubing it when it is running anyway and using engine oil to coat your parts means that your oil supply won't be contaminated by the assembly lube which may not be suited to the engine.
You're kind of right, but any competent and experienced tech knows to change the oil almost immediately after breaking in new engine parts. The factory uses the same lube, and it stays in the crankcase until the first owner decides to do maintenance, if ever.
definitely put a cire or pad lock(don't lock it) around that chain, don't let just hang. a 10 inch piece of copper core wire is best. This guy knows what he doing, if you don't, then put someone thru it to make sure it doesn't fall.
This about the most detailed video I have found, I do have a question though, I must of watched this 5 times , And checked and rechecked everything, I have what seems to be the piston knocking on something while running, I have taken it apart numerous times all the way to the cylinder and check it over and over, I cant seem to find anything everything is in the right place, timing chain is tight no slop the valves are set properly to .004 theres no binding anywhere, everything moves fine. NO issues running , idiling or in performance , it runs fine . Just knocks and its driving me nuts. Fresh rebuild last week. Thanks for the advise so for all the rambiling .
I have an idea for keeping the chain from falling while you're working. How about using a plastic chip clip? The small ones that are made to keep potato chip bags closed to keep them fresh. The chip clip could hold the chain while you're putting the jug on.
Watched a difference video of this bore kit install the whole time I was like what’s the torque spec for the head. Needless to say theirs never ran lol. Thanks for the vid man awesome job
43:50 I don't know about you all but I don't recall there being any spacers in my engine. Nothing's broken or gone too wrong yet so I think I'm good. First engine rebuild I'd ever done so I didn't do so bad.
May as well bore out the intake and exhaust ports and polish. Adds tons more torque and I run a 105 main jet with 20mm carb and thru and thru glass packed silencer. Also have upgraded final drive gear and top out at 75mph with 9 gram roller weights.
+Beto R. There are plenty of opinions out there on how rings go. I have always placed the black ring as shown in this vid. Those two rings are basically similar, and as long as the gaps do not line up, you will be good. I will say that I have never had any issues doing it this way, and I have ridden these scoots hard! Thanks for watching!

Followed your direction and the job went smoothly. Cheers
I've got everything including tools to put my big boar kit for my gy6 zummer 50cc to 80cc
But since I've mixed 6.5 and 8.5 rollers in it's riding great I had it at 45 on a straight away should I wait to do the big boar or go ahead with switching 😊
Thank you ever so kindly... your video was most enjoyable to watch and was worth to me your weight in gold. In my opinion you Sir are the very example of why the world is a better place by the sheer fact that you are in it. Please keep being who you are, you've restored in me HOPE that there is at the very least "one" kind and desent Man still willing to help, may the blessings of the Universe rain down upon you and yours always
Just done a lexmoto fmr 80cc big bore rebuild using this video excellent video thanks again couldnt of done it without your help 👍

@@RouseGarage How reliable and do you need to replace the gasifier?
If I hadn’t had this video I would have made many mistakes, and I’m somewhat mechanically inclined. Thank you so much!!!
instablaster.
Steve from Annapolis Maryland you're doing a good job with the extension on your torque wrench will subtract it will not be inaccurate 12 foot pounds or whatever it was you said you got to subtract every so many inches because it reduces foot pounds of torque to the socket because of the extension
Great video! I followed along and it made the whole rebuild a breeze! She started up first try, thank you!!!
Crystal Clear Instructions..👌
Thank you my friend...🙏
Just the video I needed
Excellent video i learned quite a bit about the kit and how it works my guess is that its a heck of a improvement on power from the original set up
Best video I've seen
Best instructional ever.
Hey dude this is Frankie from New York.. thank you for your video on the big bore kit......
Best a well-thought tutorial I have seen on the subject. thanks for your time and effort.
Best Video Thanks
I did it today came out perfect started right up
things to know you should put a bigger jet in the carb and I seen in your video you loosening the vales after you tighten the head down I would loosening them first so you get a good tor. on the head because if you do not then could be putting more pres. on the head bolts but grate video like it a lot I have just got a 50cc rally scooter looks like a VIP to me for 125 with looks like 1.2 because it was lay down first ride to me but not bad few little markand I have a 2008 vento triton 49cc that has a big bore on it and I had to jet it up to make it run right
Adam Eckenrode what time on the video was that
So before jetting up, you’re big bore kit wasn’t firing up right? When you added the new main jets, your scooter fired up?
@@michaelz5692 the bore in the C. was bad this motor did not have much comp. so i just when to a big bore for about same price and go more power
Blazin Draging I’m having trouble. I installed everything correctly. Timing, valve gaps, spark gap, battery, piston ring gaps, fuel pump....everything done right. I don’t know why it does not want to start.
@@michaelz5692 check comp. first if there nothing its not time right there 2 dots on the gears that have to be time right and vales are think .10 and other is .20 hope this helps
Great video! It inspires confidence in getting the job done right. Thanks.
+Rouse Garage , Wow, you are Very Good at making how to videos and are a great teacher. I bet I could even do this now. Great job, a joy to watch, and I learned alot. My 50cc YY50QT20 sat for eight years and I finally got it running (new petcock regulator and carburetor) and a little paint and Armour All. Thanks
You are a great teacher man. Thanks for being so informative.
looking forward to installing a big bore kit on my scooter, watching this video beforehand and it doesn’t seem that bad, thanks
Do you have a link to the kit you bought?? His link in the description doesn't work anymore
Excellent work brother, GREAT video and tips along with patience. Grateful!
Thanks for the video it was very helpful, I plan to do one myself for 4H but I would recommend changing the carb jets , I’m surprised it didn’t come with the kit . Over a great vid though thanks !
Rouse Garage np, just out of curiosity, do you know what the top speed is with one of these kits ?
did you do anything to the carb?
I was going to get a pro to do this but with this video I’ll do it my self cheers mate
I will also be buying my BBK from Rouse MS....not a bad deal at all...
Thank you very much from France :-)
the best tutorial on RUclips to install a big bore kit .
For piston, is good to do wooden wedges under it to keep it in place. Then is easier put clips in and cylinder in place.
definitely put a cire or pad lock(don't lock it) around that chain, don't let just hang. a 10 inch piece of copper core wire is best. This guy knows what he doing, if you don't, then put someone thru it to make sure it doesn't fall.
or a bit of string tie around it
Great video. Thanks for taking the time to share. Definitely increases my confidence level being a non-mechanical newbie. Thanks!
Excellent video. I really learned a lot from this. Thank you for the time you invested in making it.
Perfect, you didn’t miss not one detail
I have an idea for keeping the chain from falling while you're working. How about using a plastic chip clip? The small ones that are made to keep potato chip bags closed to keep them fresh. The chip clip could hold the chain while you're putting the jug on.
Watched a difference video of this bore kit install the whole time I was like what’s the torque spec for the head. Needless to say theirs never ran lol. Thanks for the vid man awesome job
Thanks for the great video. I am having this done for me and i just wanted to see what was involved! Glad I didn't try it myself!
Videos like this save me money… I don’t have to ask the local shop In spfd, mo lol
I'm really wondering if I can use my stock cam because my kit doesn't come with one
43:50 I don't know about you all but I don't recall there being any spacers in my engine. Nothing's broken or gone too wrong yet so I think I'm good. First engine rebuild I'd ever done so I didn't do so bad.
thank you so much for the video now i can install big bore kit on MY 50CC SCOOTER
You are welcome!

This was amazing! Thank you!
very good explained video,, i am planning on doing this to my taotao 50 and also other upgrades.
Really good details my brother has one iam buying from him and thing of doing this when I get it.
Thanks a lots I installed piston in 125 cc on my own.
May as well bore out the intake and exhaust ports and polish. Adds tons more torque and I run a 105 main jet with 20mm carb and thru and thru glass packed silencer. Also have upgraded final drive gear and top out at 75mph with 9 gram roller weights.
you should post a video showing your top speed.
I just tried installing a bbk and it will not start please help me
Compression rings and scraper rings
Rouse Garage did you block the egr tube on the valve cover? And does the 2 piece gasket usually come in the kits? What brand BBK do you use?
need your help man i need to know what the best thing i can do to mod my scooter/moped out is its a 49.cc hits 30 when im lucky and its this model YY50QT-21 also what are the pro's con's am i gonna ruin it or make it have a longer lifespan everything is stock look up my email on facebook davidpurdhamy@yahoo.com yellow safety glasses and same name hit me up asap my dude
I advocate buying the correct tools to do the one job you want to do. It makes the job much easier and faster. This is how your tool collection builds and any repairs can be done quicker.
You should use the double nut method rather than plyers to install the studs!
I recently got a tao toa vip future champion and i am an amateur with these.. would this guide help me with a newer motor?
yes it will
the best tutorial. period.
Thank you +Alex Khuri!!
Man, if I had seen this video prior to getting my big bore kit done, I would have done it myself. Geez!
How much did it cost to have a mechanic do it
I respect you man I'ma try to do this tomorrow
Looking at buying a pair of 50cc gy6 powered motorcycles, will definitely be using this video and kit!
