    Houdini and it's purely procedural node system: a blessing to the entire 3d community.

    Thank you for your videos Paul, I've been a huge fan of your work since forever! I currently use SP but I would totally pay to watch a Mari tutorial series from you!

    Hey Paul! Great video! I absolutely agree that nodes are the future. I'm seeing programs like Cinema 4D adapting to a procedural node based workflow with every update and it's amazing the power and organization they provide. Wonderful stuff!

      Hey Jeremy! Great to see you here, man!
      Really? Damn, I didn't know that - C4D was the first 3D program I tried lol
      I hope they all learn from Houdini and SD :D

    Nice Paul! Great tips, nodegraph all the way! Just wanted to say about bake points, use them strategically, they are fantastic to speed up your viewport, but you can spend a lot of time waiting for bakes if you have too many throughout your graph and you need to go back and make changes, especially on ultra mega big assets with lots of udims. I have made this mistake in the past...
    Great vids man!

      Hey Ansley, great to see you here, mate! :)
      Thanks for your input, I definitely agree that they can take a while to bake! So we gotta be smart on how to use them properly
      When I'm working on a complex setup, I usually use a bake-manager script that my friend Rod developed to bake all my points when I'm out for the day. It's quite useful and saves me a lot of time down the road

      Hey, bud! Great to see you here :)
      Michael has some great content on his channel: ruclips.net/channel/UChR5ovCmKrvWd4zxtj0gl4Q
      I highly recommend visiting Jens Kafitz Channel, he is the creator of the Extension Pack and has tons of in-depth videos for each custom node: ruclips.net/user/campi3d
      (I learned a lot from his release notes as well: campi3d.com/External/MariExtensionPack/userGuide5R4v1/5Series.html)

    I like node-based software a lot. I always enjoyed using Houdini or Origami (which doesn't have something to do with 3D). Unfortunately, Quixel Mixer isn't node based because it's a super good and free texturing software combining Substance Painter and Designer.

    • @PaulHPaulino
      @PaulHPaulino  4 года назад

      Houdini is by far my favorite node system. It is so intuitive!
      I've been using it quite a lot lately.

    I wish one day substance can combine designer and painter together , I'm 100% comfortable in SD , but in SP , I don't even know what to do sometimes ! And the layers are so annoyed !

    • @PaulHPaulino
      @PaulHPaulino  4 года назад

      Agreed! It feels odd to me to use any layer-based software these days.
      Even After Effects (which I used constantly for more than 15 years), looks outdated and weird lol

  • @3DSgeek
    @3DSgeek 4 года назад +2

    It's the reason I still prefer Mari over SP. Trying to texture a complicated asset is not fun with layers and anchor points in SP.

    • @PaulHPaulino
      @PaulHPaulino  4 года назад

      Same here! I'm looking forward to Painter making a transition into nodes! (But I hope they fix the horrendous SD graph noodle system lol)

    • @Xathian
      @Xathian 4 года назад +1

      @@PaulHPaulino I can't imagine Painter transitioning to nodes. It would alienate basically their entire built up user base who use it because of how it works now rather than already using Mari. You can already texture an asset very similar to this video using Designer, just import the mesh mainly. The only hurdle is working with UDIMs and a few layer-like tools being missing, but I'd far more likely expect those to be added to Designer rather than Painter just being rebuilt from the ground up to use nodes instead.

  • @VFXBlend_yt

    Why not Blender? Blender has also a node workflow for texturing. Please make a video for Blender texturing.
    BTW Thank you very much it is really helpful
