My dog got sprayed by a skunk two times this week! (the I second being yesterday) I used the baking soda, hydrogen peroxide, and dish soap concoction (no exact measurements, but I did add a lot of baking soda) and it’s magic! The smell has dramatically been reduced, but just a little bit of it lingers on his face. I let it soak into his fur for about 5-7 minutes and then thoroughly washed it out. Then I followed up with a conditioning shampoo to further get rid of the smell and make his skin more hydrated.

Got pretty dizzy too from the smell too. 😭 It's been months since and most of the smell is gone but my husband and I still smell it in random corners of our house even after airing it out for weeks. there was a skunk in the middle of a busy road near me, and had its tail up, ready to spray. all of the cars had to be slow and had to go around the skunk, which was insane!
There is a chemical that will quickly eliminate the smell. My cousin who did animal control told me to visit a veterinarian to find it. The only time I needed it was when a friend's dog was sprayed. We live on a farm and I keep a bottle.
That doesn't make him stupid outright, he's just doing what's in his instincts. Dogs love chasing and slaughtering animals even when they don't need to, I guess skunks are just Mother Nature's way of teaching these mutated mutts a lesson lol
The stench of skunk most people have smelled while driving down the road is nothing compared to getting sprayed at point blank range lol. It is absolutely putrid! I speak from experience. the only thing that remotely worked counteracting the smell is a combination of dish soap, baking soda and peroxide and even that doesn’t get rid of it. When I got sprayed I smelled like a skunk for at least three days and just had to ride it out. Uggh bad memory lol.

I used to deliver news papers. One fine morning I hit a skunk with me car about half way through my route. Despite me and the papers both being INSIDE the car, we both ended up with the smell. My boss called me later that morning to ask why I was getting so many complaints. He thought I hadn't finished the route, but I had. People just don't like skunk smell with their morning paper. My boss told me if that happened again, to call him and not to deliver stinky papers.
