I know you're planning on moving on to another book, though I can't remember which one you said...I really really hope you continue with this story. I love your narration style and I love this book series. I have my fingers crossed that you'll do Valley of the Horses! It's, in my opinion, one of the best books in the series!
If you haven't read the rest of the series (they're very long books) it just gets better and better(until the "painted caves" book which I think is the last in the series.. that one isn't great)

By chapter 19, the whole "I might die!" trope was already being crammed right up the bum a little roughly. Now it's tedious. As if Ayla would be afraid of being dead after she's already been there.

Children shouldn't be condemned for the sins of their parents. It wasn't her baby's fault that Broud raped her. I think Ayla's decision to keep her baby is a very interesting and often forgotten point of view to consider. Just another sign that she's a survivor who will find the best side of things, no matter how much catastrophe befalls her.
The clan didn't relate getting pregnant to sex/rape. So in the story she didn't know it was Braud's child. Pregnancy was believed to have a spiritual cause, the totem of the woman being overpowered by the totem of a man. The 'releave' of man's needs had nothing to do with it. Ayla started to gess it though. But it is a fantasy book, remember, not a history book or stone age psychology 😊
She hasn't figured that out at this point in the story. They haven't even equated the child's "deformity" as being nothing more than a mix of herself and Clan genetics.

It kind of bothers me how Ayla wants to keep her son even though he's the son of Broud, who raped Ayla.
