Komari is so sweet. This episode was cute and sad at the same time - the poor girl thinking that her much younger friend was a much older, sophisticated woman.
Japan is notoriously stuck on retro stuff. They still love using cash, stamps, checks, etc. Just recently they updated their bills for the first time in two decades, causing an uproar in businesses since literally everyone has to update their vending machine bill readers.
This anime turns the norms of anime on its head, and rather than set itself in the metrocities of japan as most anime would do to make use of the extravagant facilities in such cities to aid their story progression and add plot points, like the beach and the cinema and the mall, that adds material to the story and wouldnt have been possible if not for the cityscape setting, it is set in the countryside, not having the leverage to exploit the devices that i mentioned above, and therefore needing to make up for it with an appropriately told story instead.
Yeah, as the other commenter said it's really close to the start. The episode where Hotaru is so excited to hang out with Komari outside of school for one of the first times ever that she dresses up all nice for it, and as a result Komari thinks that Hotaru is a sophisticated grown up, and ends up showing her around without realising that it's actually her at all. :)
Why is she so criminally cute from that angle 😂

Man, to be young again.
It's weird seeing her in a telephone booth because that's one of the few technologically advanced things in their village.
Such a nice and innocent clip. Refreshing^^

remember phone booths?
for sure also this is how we called our friends to hang out as kids when everyone had dial phones and not cell phones. Feels old man.
i have not seen a phone booth for the last 20 or so years, i must not be looking hard enough.

And the fact she didn't even recognize her friend at all😅
So wholesome.

She looks so dayum smol
She is :(. With 1 phone call, you can donate 2 centimeters to her height.
😭
Cuz she is dayum smol
@@H0elessRomantic1 130 cm, if I recall correctly. 4 feet 3 inches, for you metrically challenged people. In 8th grade 😭
Komari is 130 centimeters (about 4 feet 3 inches). She is tiny.
I wish Lucy can come in Non non biyori world to relax
Hah. A phone.
Can anyone tell me which season and episode is this? I watched Non non biyori, but I don't remember watching this scene. Maybe I missed something?

Is it When They Cry?
No, it's Non-Non Biyori
Oh my Lord, they are completely on the opposite spectrum, I would cry if Non Non Biyori was anything like that.
@@kingstonsteele7820 it looked like she was in hinamizawa with that scenic shot.
