- A lot of people don't seem to be happy with the current state of Tekken 8. There is a lot of talk about quiting the game from some of the most recognizable members of the community but just why is that the case?

I think our energy as a community would be better focused at bringing the heat respectfully to Harada for the state of the game.
Heat smash gets to be ridiculous when it seems that the matches between two even opponents can come down to heat management instead of character skill.
The monetization is gross in this game, maybe I wouldn't be annoyed with it if I wasn't wondering if they could be making a better game instead of focusing on the monetization a lot it seems.
At this point I would be curious as to how many new casuals are still playing the game? I am of the belief that at this point they are losing their long-time playerbase and they need to get on addressing it or this game may not last as long as T7.
For f's sake Permaban/ban pluggers and cheaters. The sooner these people are removed the better. We have all run into them far more than we should.
How about locking in people for best of two in ranked?

Lasty, Harada ought to be ashamed of himself for allowing Dragunov to be in his state in competitive play. While saying we want it to be good for spectators....WTH Bamco? You all had a deserved emergency patch in T7 for Leroy if memory serves me correct because Leroy was busted. Yet Dragunov is the same, and Heihachi looks like he will potentially be Dragunov 2.0/ Phoenix?

What Namco did is double down on stance-heavy mix-up characters that give so many forced 50/50s which basically are unseeable to react, and you just have to make a lucky guess, aka do a 'hard read'. That's not skill, that's casino. Right now every character is on steroid. Like, one hit moves like heatsmash or rageart does 50-60 damage. Even on block, more unseeable mix-ups. It's just so stupid.
The stances often have a homing move, a sweeping low, a launching mid, a safe high and/or a powercrush. Both Lidia and Heihachi are like this. People are tired of the constant rushdown and mashy feeling of Tekken 8. There's next to impossible to defend in this game.
Tbh dealing with 50/50s simply forces you to read your opponent. Which could also be considered as a "skill" which i can't be too mad about...

Defensive options are extremely limited... I played against a Kaz player and his combos were literally unlockable it was MK1 😂 dude was so passed I beat 2 rounds with Alisa went completely rage mode on me for the next 3.
tbh after you hit god of destruction you need to enter tournaments, touch grass or just do something more productive with your life

I think most ppl "hate" the game bc it's not Tekken 5 and 7. and by that I mean that gamers really like to bitch about shit when the solution is right under their nose. They bitched about T7 and they are bound to bitch about T8.
You guys can speak for yourselves. I love Tekken and I am a huge fan of Tekken and I respect harada for giving us a game that no one else could. Remember no game is perfect so just make the most of it while you still have it.
keep in mind that pro hwoarang player is a top competitive player. not to be mean or anything but thats a him issue, most of are not even going to reach to that rank. i guess what the game should do is make another layer of rank that is solely for those that reach god supreme or destruction. either that or maybe a rank reset. in my case, i wont stop playing it either i love this franchise

T8 my first tekken and I can already understand how dumbed down it is. I enjoy improvement over winning, so I have a unique perspective compared to most new players. Sad to see so many Reina’s who literally only use FF2. Plus frames are too easy to get in this game
It used to be a much more defensive game than this, but that's not the direction they wanted to keep going in, much to its detriment IMHO.

If you have good gamer sense you can spot after a few hours the yank they added to water the game down even if you never played. Glad you recognized it.
I still play T8; I really enjoy the aggression because it feels engaging, but my highest rank is Battle Ruler, so I’m not sure if I’m missing something when people talk about wanting more defense.
I really enjoy T8’s gameplay, it’s flashy and exciting; T7 just felt slow, and the only other Tekken I played was 3, which I enjoyed.
@@Ray-mj5mj I made it to mid blue and the problem I see is that it only looks flashy. It’s actually super easy to just throw out moves which to me, doesn’t FEEL flashy. It’s much cooler when I tactically throw a move rather than rely on grab or heat smash in every round
The problem with most the gaming community is people cannot accept that things will change or have to change. They want stuff to stay the same. I’ve played tekken for just as long as most and I enjoy tekken 8. It’s easier for people to blame the game instead of themselves

Nah, this ain't how it used to be in older Tekkens. From 5 to 7, they made changes, and yeah, some players were cool with it, but others weren't. Most people just dealt with it, but the developers never messed with the core of the game. Tekken 8 is the first one to basically kill neutral gameplay and make you guess 50/50s all the time. It's a huge change, and it's way harder to get used to than other games that messed with neutral but didn't go as hard with stuff like the Heat System.

And it's totally understandable that people who've been playing this game for almost 30 years are pissed. Tekken 8 isn't some art piece you can't judge. It's a live service game that's supposed to build on its 30-year history. So of course people are gonna complain! That's what happens when you make a "game as a service". You gotta listen to your fans (costumers), and right now, they're clearly not doing that.

I can tell you the one thing why people are hating on this game. It's a casino simulator forcing 50/50 options. Therefor its unrewarding to play and "getting good" still doesn't mean you're good. I struggled reaching the highest rank in Tekken 7. I reached it within weeks in this game...

All my homies love -17 heat engagers forcing casino guesses and heat smashes that hit for 65 damage that on block also force casino guesses as well as having access to a rage art in case all that cheese didn't win you the round :)

IMO the biggest problem with T8 is the fact that every character in the game plays the same, burst all the way. King is the only one staying to the original archetype but even he is overtuned in some regards

I haven't played Tekken 8 yet, but I don't like Tekken 8 just from the looks of it.
I will never stop playing Tekken, it is one of the games i allways go back to, to me it is timeless, the ever learning experience of having to learn different match ups, player playstyles etc is an never ending journey to become better. But i have to agree that when you reach top level this does also become abit more boring as you tend to meet the same players alot more due to how ranking works. Let us hope for some more rank content in the near future, perhaps a master rank type system or something to keep people engaged. and some real rewards also in those ranks would be sick, but im just dreaming here ^^. Great video! PS: Have not touched Tekken ball since launch i think, i much more prefered the old Tekken Bowl :D. But im also not bored of Ranked tho, just fighting people and the competetive side of it is more than satisfying for me at the moment :).
Btw: Heihachi is not just "Reina", just as Lidia is not just "Reina".. Just because they have some similar moves, does not make them "The same". Reina is Heihachi's daughter and very likely trained by him, why wouldnt their styles be similar? But they are still not the same, Reina is rushdown, Heihachi seems like a defensive counter type, we will see the 30th! He also seems 10times more powerfull in some ways, especially with the one time install which used right guarantees a round.
I dislike some of the gameplay direction, but hate is a stretch. The QoL improvement update looks good. For those who don't like the gameplay, and this goes for any game, don't support it. Simply don't buy it. It is absolutely ok to verbalize any complaints though. Of course, people should be respectful when voicing concerns or dislikes.
I get what you're saying and I agree with most of it but the part about "Just don't buy it/support it" is a bit tricky because if I didn't like the gameplay of T8 and decided I would switch to T7 because it's more appealing to me, that's going to be a lot harder to do when T8 has an average of 8k players daily whereas T7 has like 200 players daily.

Not even Tekken Tag 2 or 6 was All out Aggression. In a Match of Skilled players they were attacking , Blocking and Using Movement
@@Hype_Incarnate i was warrior rank in 7 but didn’t bother learning much, in 8 I tried a little harder and got mighty ruler, beaten plenty of high blue ranks and beat a tekken king the other day with a perfect round and I was using kazuya who I suck at, I have absolutely no business beating a tekken king and perfecting him😂, power crush, heat burst blah blah it’s all junk

I agree the game hasn't even been out a year yet neither has the first season of characters been released.Let them cook! they are clearly trying to keep an open playing field for many newcomers. I get the nostalgia for this game (Tekken IS the best fighting game STILL lol) however for those who may complain about the skill bar being lowered to a degree I understand that but also it seems like a pride issue because now someone who's a newcomer is able to do what you may have put a lot of time in to learning, that doesn't mean that you don't have better skill and understanding the fundamentals.

They need to make movement matter again. That's been my main complaint since T7. Good movement would make it easier to deal with much of this offense-centric gameplay. Being able to move around and away from all of this would add a lot to the depth of the game. Movement as it is actually sucks, and moves track WAY more than they really should.

I have been playing Tekken since I was 6 years old in 1994, I think all Tekkens need online mirror matches. I feel like we would all learn our mains better that way.
I played Tekken Ball once and it reminded me how much I prefer Tekken Ball in T3. The heat ruined it.

One thing you gotta realize a lot of the community from the beginning were never tekken players/ committed players so it’s only expected to fall off some. Offline tournaments are my main objective not just online play so it adds a huge layer to my purpose of playing.
Start getting into the community a little and attend your local tournaments and compete! Don’t just play online. It adds an extra level of challenge and it makes you look at the game completely different.
I see people all the time who play but don’t compete in offline tournament play because they’re too afraid.

Im a jun Main and I've been using her for nearly a year and as I've been playing her for some reason it feels that the pros and cons on her don't weight themselves. Nothing changes no matter what im doing but 1 problems with her I know for sure is her beams.[Logic1]The casting time is horrendous It doesn't matter early or mid hit if you cast it because . .. if you press it at the EXACT time the beam goes THROUGH the enemy with no consequences [Logic 2] If you do it Early you get punished or blocked .Now if you do it late You either hit them and they hit you and as they fly in the air THEY GET TO THE GROUND BEFORE YOU DO
I really love the game but agree with a lot of criticisms. Especially everyone having stance mix (and I mained Ganryu in 7 and Leroy in 8 so I like stance mix lol). One criticism I disagree with is that chip needs toned down. The big frustration in 8 for me is (as you mentioned) the easy access to a lot of plus frames. Too many amazing while running moves, too much jailing, etc. I think if you remove this ease of access to plus frames it's a HUGE nerf to the amount of chip almost any character could do. Too many plus mids man.
Another thing that people don't mention enough in my opinion. This is what makes heat smash way more broken to me than rage drive and I haven't heard it mentioned. If you eat a jab in RD startup? It's spent, your ass got timed. If you get counter hit in the early startup frames of heat smash you keep your heat. I also think heat engagers insane hit priority in situations that would normally trade don't get enough hate lol.

Biggest problem with tekken 8:
Heat system
Chip dmg
Laxk of a strong Defensive to balance out the current offensive system
Inconsisten moves thatvhave the characters realign poorly resulting in moves whiffing for no reason
Solution:
Buff defense in game(Add 2 mechanics that replace kbd)
Fix chip dmg and tone it down %40
Add a bit more diversity to character expression in moves
Make everyone use heat differently based on their fundamental playstyles
Make Every move come out on the Z axis consistently and stop the realign problem by fixing the code.
Also balance out the side step diversity between males and females in the game and make elanora a gir as she was originally intended to be.
Stop making the meter system drive the flow of the game and make it not so strong.
Tekken 8 is so stupid and dumb on so many levels that you could probably write an entire book on it. The sound, visuals, gameplay, strategy…just about everything is so dumbed down and overblown,it feels like the entire magic of tekken has been stripped away, leaving behind and empty hollow shiny shell.

As bad as this sounds I will continue with Tekken 8 because of what I've invested in it but I'm gonna have Street Fighter 6 creep back into the equation.
Why you might ask...the answer is quite simple "Superior Online" with a less punitive demotion system and easy rematches regardless of hardware.
I don't think I need to explain why this is a major problem with Tekken 8 with Time outs, laggy enemies, excessive rage quits and other issues.

@@don2nd650 Sadly I am a Legacy Street Fighter to an extent unlike Tekken so Legacy stuff in Street Fighter for the most part barring Marisa, Luke and JP who I like despite being newcomers.
Simple fixes hear me out.
1. Heat engagers/ heat burst - Only available in while in rage.
2. Chip damage - Only available while in heat.
4. Heat dash - can access whenever but uses some heat meter and only recovers in rage.
5. Heat smash or rage art NOT BOTH.
6. BRING BACK BOUNDING OFF LOW PARRY.
Everything else is a balancing issue. Honestly it’s too easy to win why get good?
I wouldn't mind heat if it was better implemented. Like ur point about heat vs rage drive was on point but also lemme add to it. With rage drive u don't get to do rage drive AND art every match. I personally think Soul Calibur 6 did it better with soul charge and critical art. You had to choose if you wanted to do one or the other and couldn't do both every single round. Only if they haven't been spending the butter. Soul calibur also gave more reliable defense options imo. Impact was amazing for slowing down the plus frames. lol irks me how good SC6 could have been with a proper budget
I am a defensive minded player. I love Tekken and still enjoy Tekken 8 but it can really be frustrating too. Heat is just too OP and very un-Tekken like.
Worst things to me are...
1. Chip damage. Too much in general and it is absolutely insane with heat, especially with certain moves, strings and of course heat smashes.
2. Heat bursts. Easy steal your turn move (or launcher if opponent is airborne). It should at least be parryable, power crushable, and not have armor properties. Then it won't be such a brain-dead OP move.
3. Heat smashes. Too much damage on hit/block, tracks too well and not parryable.
4. Overall, damage is too high across the board.
Huge video dude. I agree on many points, what me and my mates are mostly complaining in tekken 8 can be dumbed down to 2 major points (i believe you have covered this as well in some of your videos but i havent watched all yet :D)
If they would fix the constant rushdown by either nerfing or preferably giving better defensive options that'd be huge for t8.
Second is the crazy damage, this is not tekken unique unfortunately this is for all modern fighting games. The fact that the cast practically can 2 touch you and you are dead is insanse.. In my view this takes out the interraction from the game. I get it that flashy huge damage combos are good and looking awesome, but everyone has them and a lot of them are not even hard to do which just makes them annoying? I have fingers crossed for s2 that they will change some mechanics in general, i would want to keep playing the game.
I feel like “pros” maybe should get out a little more of their that bored.
Every game has an end game. Fighting games just naturally get boring as it’s the same thing again and again.

A big reason content creators and players are getting burnt out and bored is because Tekken 8 has streamlined the interactions and gameplan. It's constant pressure and 50/50 whereas in Tekken 7 there was so much more happening in a given match, which made the learning and playing aspect so much more rewarding.
This game didn't need so many crutches to help new players. I don't at all mind the game requiring legacy experience. A newer player getting washed by a veteran is to be expected, and while that newer player may not learn much from quickly losing 3-0, they can then rely on the matchmaking to pair them up with other players at their own skill level.
At the end of the day, playing fighting games with people your own skill level is the most fun aspect, whether you're both mashing mindlessly, for both top players feeding off of the thrill of competition.
Tekken force used to be great!... They can buff it further to give a pseudo adventure experience within the game...
I've got a solution for the heat engage mechanic....learn how to freakn block and stop tryna stay on offense the entire match.
I still love this game. I love Tekken in general. Been playing since 4 so the franchise holds a special place in my heart. And I'm not planning on dropping it anytime soon. However, I will admit that the game is in a tough situation at the moment
While I don't consider myself a pro player despite how long I've been playing, and definitely not a casual by any means, the devs need to find a way to appease both. For the heat, I think regulation is key. As well as nerfing certain characters that are problematic. Plus, some new game modes would be nice. Still waiting on Team Battle and Tekken Force, I'd play the game for much longer if they get added. Not just for offline but online too. Imagine a co-op version of Tekken Force like with Scenario Campaign in 6? That'd be dope af. Plus, playing Team Battle online with people sounds fun as hell. Oh yeah! And a tournament mode. Surprised that didn't come back since 7 had it
Rage Arts & Heat System DESTROYED TEKKEN.
Honestly I was hyped af for Heihachi because of the whole Legacy/traditional Tekken thing, was gonna go along quite nicely with my Kazuya but im really disappointed from what I saw. As you said, Reina was supposed to be the stance Mishima kind of, whats the point of Heihachi? Not to mention if they keep adding characters that have everything, installs, stances etc. some other characters will feel rly outdated.
She is a Copy of Heihachi Though. Heihachi originally had alot of those moves in Past Tekken Games
@@hurricane7727 Its the other way around, Reina is the copy of Heihachi with a few key things to make her different enough so that she aint a 1:1 copy. Heihachi now taking after Reina makes 0 sense.

Maybe they should re add him older Versions of his Moveset he no longer used in Past Tekkens to make him different ( Down Punch to his Hammer fist from Tekken 1 to Tekken 4 rather than his Tekken 5 Changed version to Palm strike since Reina Has It) or Change his Back Punch back to his Pre Tekken 5 Version with a New Move. Basically his Older Moves that he no longer used post Tekken 4.

I don't get the your point about 1st issue: there are less then 100 ppl around the world who've got max rating of 999 999 points, and also Edge is competetive pro player who understands his character is not the best pick for winning EVO. For 99,99% reaching max rating in ranked is irrelevenat.
I'd play tekken ball if it wasn't locked behind fight lounge. I think more people would be incentivized to do so with it on the screen then having to jump around menus

Tekken 8 is still a good game to play, yeah it's far from perfect starting from the story mode that the only good thing we get from it is the jin vs kazuya fight at the end and ending with the gameplay,some characters are more rewarding than others but that has always happened so.
What if there is a event content where there is a deadline scheduled for players to grind for becoming apex legend. Example: 1 November 23:59; All #1 ranked EACH character in the world will be registered to participate in a tekken fist tournament scheduled for next week. So there will be no duplicates character but might be double irl player that has more than one #1 character (which is ok). Wouldnt that be fun ^_^.. and there will be hall of fame, like aegis of immortal dota2 :D..
The thing that i want the most right now is to be able to not enter heat when doing a heat engager, how ?? By holding forward after doing a heat engager move

Tekken was a high skill cap game and still is so i think its fine if some things were toned down. But the powercrush argument was a little strange to me. You take damage to deal damage which is in turn a counter hit and is risky. Examples are characters like Lee, Lars, Raven, Kazuya etc. Its an unsafe move so its only fair. The heat engagers are strong but i think they are fine since they don't lead to combos. Street fighter is similar in this aspect how it will do more damage or have a higher scaling if im quoting this right. But you can only take 2 hits. Heihachi im unsure about at the moment just gonna wait until hes here. But i think heat is generally fine since i mean its a heat engager and you run which just resets neutral. Its a good mechanic to counter highly agressive gameplay. It gives you a moment to breath. Yes this is not always true but nothing works 100% so i think its fine. You dont have to use heat every round but it does help and keep the gameplay mad fresh. Combos are way more versatile than tekken 7 despite having less spin moves. Some balancing is off yes but this is every single game literally. Its just the way of the game. Some characters, guns, abilities, are too strong it happens. Some things will get changed and tuned. So i mean i think its ok because it will hopefully get tuned down. If its a recurring issue then some studying needs to be done. But the argument of being a high ranked player is a bit repetitive. Yes i understand there's a limit when you get to the top but thats every game. If anything the only answer is to get special in game content to make people play from being a extremely high rank player. But this game is great i think its doing well. Yes some things can be better but overall pretty good

Tekken 8 is the first tekken for me. I have to say that it is a pretty good game and pretty fair. You can play every character you want and you can still beat the s+ tiers with good fundamentals. My only complains are that heat smash and rage arts do so much damage that they can steal games easily with no fundamentals. Rage + H.Engager + Heat smash can easily delete your life bar and its not enjoyable. I also agree with the idea of power crushes. Can we at least be able to grab someone after their power crush even if they absorbed the damage? I think that would be ideal.
Its a fighting game. Its very limited by default. It gets old and boring very fast

I still love the game. I’ve taken a break until heihachi comes because I realized that I’ve been playing nothing but T8 since it launched. I have other games that need ro be played too lol. I still have my goal of getting the entire cast to at least mighty ruler. I have like 13 characters there so far next one is Raven actually

Yeah they need to nerf top tiers down to low tier level and the game would make a lot more sense honestly. When I'm labbing shit with Leroy he honestly has a lot that feels really really strong, but compare it to Dragunov's 5 or so key moves and it's just irrelevant.
@@Carlosonebillion no they need to balance the game better. And yes Leroy has plenty of great but they are inconsistent. And his lack of a great low makes it hard to break high guard especially on good players. Also it hard to add pressure on opponents without plus frames

Tekken 5: Dark Resurrection was the last good Tekken. Everything after that has gone downhill and Tekken 8 is where it has fallen off a cliff to the point where I can't find a single good thing to say about Tekken 8.

I feel like all the dlc getting installs is a sign of things to come. Especially Heihachi’s boss character, not dealing recovering health “free round” install. I feel like they’re testing that idea. And it might be something they will give every character going forward. I don’t know how broken it will be for Hei to be able to do one round of dealing very minuscule amounts of recoverable health. But I’m positive it will be something EVERYONE will complain about, kinda like Devil Jin’s early heatsmash that dominated the nuetral every time he was in heat.

I've always been curious how a fighting game ranked mode would be received with a hidden ELO system. In smite casuals there's skill based matchmaking. After about 100 hours I checked my win/loss rate and it was almost exactly 50%, so they were definitely doing a good job of giving me competitive matches.
