    There is an old saying. " A black bear will chase you up a tree, and a grizzly will catch you before you make it to the tree."

    • @patrickkenney2259

      More like "A black bear will chase itself up a tree in fear of you"
      Typical black bear propaganda

    • @justplainbrad7713
      @justplainbrad7713 3 года назад +12

      @@patrickkenney2259 Why do you speak of propaganda...like you actually know what you're saying.
      Your scenario is only one-of-many possibilities.
      It depends on :
      -the age of the bear
      -the size of the creature
      -it's temperament
      Plus other factor come into play.
      Bears climb trees all the time, even when it's occupied by a human-hunter, in a stand.
      You don't know enough about black bears to make that one-sided, ignorant, uneducated comment.
      A sorry excuse for a thinking human like you, might be surprised at what (some) bears would do.
      In the United States a young mother with small, hungry cubs, actually killed a young hiker, and then actually had a good bit of her eaten when discovered.
      Any bear is to unpredictable, at the best of times, to make that asinine comment.
      You've been listening to too many know nothings like yourself...bullshitter!

      @@justplainbrad7713 You're right. But that doesn't mean we become scared lil bitches thinking we have to kill everything either. That would be asinine.

    • @justplainbrad7713
      @justplainbrad7713 3 года назад +2

      @@thebabbler8867 Didn't say that, and it wasn't my intention to deliver that message.
      [It's down to interpretation anyway, some people will read only what they want to]
      I've fished on salmon rivers in May, when mothers with newborn cubs are just (hungerly)...while I was hip deep in river, she stealthily took my backpack, and ran off. If my friend, downstream, hadn't seen her running with my pack in her teeth, I would never have known where it went.
      My partner was a seasoned woodsman, outdoorsman, and explained what & why it happened, and we went back to the car, before her possible return.
      That is not scared bitches...it's respecting a mother, feeding herself for the first time in 5-6 months, and can be dangerous when the scarcity food is the issue.
      Later in summer, when salmon are running well, and berries are available, you would rarely see one.
      There's a difference between standing there bold and brave with a gun to shoot her for fending for herself & family; and the flip side is, the intelligence to know when "YOU" are in the wrong place.
      While I sincerely love the wilderness, if I didn't understand that the wild animals have to be there...we do not, I'm an idiot.

      Uncle Putin looking like Uncle Joe.
      REMEMBER when Putin told Westerners that they should teach their wives how to cook cabbage soup…
      ‘The nuclear war plan is still on. But there would be changes.‘
      -GRU Colonel Stanislav Lunev who defected from Russia in 1992 stated that the Russian Generals were still committed to fighting and winning a future nuclear war against America;
      No longer would Russian troops be responsible for a follow-up invasion of the lower 48 states (U.S. mainland). Russian forces would be responsible for occupying ‘Alaska and parts of Canada. The Chinese would occupy the lower 48 states. In addition, certain Third World countries would be given ‘looting rights’ (hence the open border policy)’
      As Lenin stated his ‘collected works’: “The World War (1914-1918) will see the establishment of Communism in Russia; a second world war will extend its control over Europe and a third world war will be necessary to make it worldwide.”
      Petr Cibulka in 2005: “I am convinced that Russian military intelligence (GRU) is directing terrorist activities against the United States and the West. This is Moscow’s main option for defeating the West. Therefore the GRU is supplying the Islamic terrorists with Russian nuclear weapons so the planned attack against the United States by Russia, China and their allies can follow.”
      Soviet military defector Major General Jan Sejna who defected in 1968 reveals WW3 and the ‘West to be blamed’ narrative have been long planned:
      “Portions of the Soviet plans for seizing control of the United States following a nuclear strike were described by the head of the Administration for Special Propaganda to Sejna just prior to Sejna’s defection. The description provides an interesting insight into the possible nature of Soviet plans and, in a certain regard, their efforts to clothe mechanisms in indigenous or nationalistic trappings (ie. as Dugin portrays, that the West must be ‘saved’ by the East from the ‘manic satanic elite’). In 1967 the Soviets believed that, in addition to strikes against nuclear and critical military targets, roughly 110 nuclear strikes would be adequate to cripple the United States. In the attack, Europe would not be destroyed. Rather, Moscow would launch a propaganda campaign to tell the Europeans that the Soviets had saved their lives. The United States would be blamed for starting the war and an international committee for the neutrality of the United States would be formed. Pressure would be produced from the left and from Europe and elsewhere for the United States to give up.”
      “A person who believes that the “meaning of Russia” is the “end of the world” is a person whose geopolitical doctrine is implemented by the ruler of Russia. In short, Dugin and Putin’s Eurasianism are a satanic cult. And Dugin believes that Ukraine is a condition for Eurasia.”
      - Andrei Piontkovsky🇷🇺Political Scientist

      Problem with climbing a tree to escape a grizzly is the size of the tree - if the tree is small enough, a grizzly can knock it down, and if it's too big, the grizzly can still climb
      a short distance, although climbing is not their forte ! If it's a black bear, they CAN climb up after you, so while switching over to another tree while high up in it can be risky, it is still preferable to dealing with a bear in its' element !

    Bears only look slow because they resemble a very obese human. But they are quite fast. In my daughter's home reservation I used to run into(literally) a juvenile bear. I never saw such a fast animal in the deep woods. They would come out on the road and sometimes they would be in the middle of a curve. That bear did 90 out of there and I would be clocking at about 40km and he was in front of my bumper. Never quite made contact. I don't know how fast they could move in the brush.

    This invites further provocative discussion. Like… forget the grizzly bear for a bit:
    What’s faster? A Gummy Bear, a Care Bear, or a Build-A-Bear?

    This momma bear was just loping along, trying to shake a weak elk off the herd. It was just a probe, not a full on chase or a fast retreat from a human. A healthy grizz on firm ground could likely catch a typical wild mustang (not a thoroughbred) if ambushed. There is vid out there somewhere of a griz chasing down a young elk calf. Calves can run almost as fast as their mothers, and the scene is a blurr of speed and maneuver, but the calf got hung up on a log and that was that.
    That fast retreat from a human happened to me. I was going through a tunnel in a thicket of blackberries and surprised a black bear sucking berries off the vines and mumbling to himself like a person. In fact I thought it was a person on the other side of the thicket. We saw each other at the same time and he took off like he was shot out of a cannon. There was no throttle up time. He was at full flee instantly, and probably hitting at least 30mph when he came to a very steep bank covered in thick brush. He went straight up crashing through the bushes and never lost a step. Quick as a cat, they are.

      Whoah. Black bears are so fast, faster than brown bears, which by themselves are very fast. Black bears can get up around 40 mph can't they? The average-sized brown bears are faster than lions and tigers aren't they, and they have more endurance so can maintain it can't they? Although the very huge brown bears become slower as they become excessively huge. Although still much faster than humans.
