@@Ashadar_Resouley Not really, while it would be nice if that's how it worked, the resort would get more profit from being based off of Wii Sports than Nintendo would. Second most people who go to these types of places don't really give a damn about video games like at all really so if nintendo isn't paying them to put up all the branding then even if they didn't pay nintendo to use their branding it still wouldn't be worth the time effort or money to put it all up, most of the guest likely wont even know what an wii is unless they have kids, the only way the resort makes money off having the branding is if nintendo paid them to put it up other wise they're just losing money by putting it up and there wouldn't be a reason to put it up.
@@Ashadar_Resouley You're just repeating my point back to me? My point *is* that we are in the world where McDonalds would sue you. In your original comment, you said that they would/should be getting paid for "advertisement" when they were making a resort *specifically* based on the Nintendo game. (which would be the equivalent of saying the restaurant wouldn't get sued because they were "advertising" for McDonalds.) So either, 1: They wouldn't put any branding up, in which case this whole conversation is pointless. 2: They *do* put branding up and market it as a replica, in which case they would have to pay for the copyright from Nintendo, or 3: Nintendo builds it and therefore wouldn't have to pay for the copyright since they already own it, which would once again make this whole thing pointless. The original comment that sparked this discussion is based on the idea that it's option 2 and therefore they would be the ones paying for the copyright.
To be fair, this is what it would cost IRL, but we don't know how much it would cost in the Miiverse because, if nothing else, there's a chance it's its own country, so the prices and laws would probably be different. So there might be some hope for your Mii
There are a few things which may slightly alter the cost of the resort if any 1. I always thought that Wuhu Island was its own country meaning they could potentially be using cheap labour, this seems unlikely that they would do that though. 2. Since they are likely not belonging to another country they don't _NEED_ to follow all the regulations that regard skydiving and being a pilot. The licences wouldn't be able to be used elsewhere though probably. 3. The dogs wander around and follow anyone who goes near them meaning they are free! I'm guessing they are owned by someone but they aren't ever put on leashes.
honestly, if i ever found myself just like unnecessarily wealthy, you could absolutely catch me taking a yearly trip the wii sports resort. hell, if i had enough money, id MAKE it irl. i think it’d be sick as heck. but now that i think about it…. the attorney fees from daily liability cases and lawsuits would eat through the budget pretty fast….
What I wonder is what the cost of living is like for the residents of the island, and what career opportunities are available in the Wuhu Island community other than hospitality and tourism
To be fair, I'm pretty sure Wuhu Island is its own country. They might just say "fuck it" and make it all cost the price of a Wii game, and then you get full access for life.
First of all, on the question of "where else should I stay?", my first thought waa Luigi's Mansion. It seems to have a lot of amenities, it might be interesting. But in regards to your video, while I loved it, I think you're underestimating the price on Speed Slice. While most of the objects being sliced are potentially cheap items that would have been thrown out anyway, one of the items is a fully working electronic scoreboard from the Jetski game. That's gotta be a few hundred dollars by itself.
Plus you're taking, like, a whole month of vacation off work so you can go through both skydiving and flight school as well as actually do all the activities.
Really fun breakdown of the hypothetical cost. I'm afraid I would not be able to attend, but I've always loved Wii Sports Resort and Wuhu Island. The island is so charming and racing through it in Mario Kart was so fun! Super fun video
8:15 - I once rode a VR roller coaster for like $3. It was pretty neat, and the seat moving around helped, but the headset was clearly calibrated for someone not nearsighted and I couldn't use my glasses, so everything was blurry.
I rode an even older version without VR years ago with just a CRT screen and a jostling mechanical coaster car, it was mild enjoyment for a couple minutes when I was 9 or 10 😂
I would love to stay at Kawawii Island from Go Vacation. The amount of activities is insane! All I could say is good luck trying to price that one. Would be a very interesting watch.
I cannot tell you how quickly I RAN to this video as soon as I saw it in my Subscriptions box - this is catered specifically to me. You have no idea how desperately I wanted a life sim game set on Wuhu Island. If you ever decide to do this again, I'd honestly love a bit of a different spin: maybe Luigi's Mansion (or the hotel from the third one) for a Halloween special? 👀

I understand jetskis and planes, maybe biking. But bowling? And I imagine archery would be done in separate areas like inside of a volcano so nobody will get hit with arrow
I imagine that this resort is for professional athletes and their only competing in that sport and most people are just guests at this resort which is a venue space with some exceptions

I don't care how much it costs, I would do anything to go if it was real. If i remember correctly, there's also a small village of native Islanders who live there, which you can see during the island flyover. Those houses have got to be expensive.
This was such a fun and fascinating video. Wuhu Island is one of my favorite fictional locations ever, so I enjoy any video about it and Wii Sports Resort, especially as someone who has always wanted to go there. Though it probably would be tricky after watching this, if it was real anyway.
If the resort already has a VR lounge for the sword fighting, then they could absolutely use the VR headsets for the island flyover as well. Would be much cheaper for them (not needing to worry about fuel or maintenance for the planes or runway) and for guests ($50/hr for the VR experience vs tens of thousands for a private pilot's license), not to mention the drastic reduction in insurance costs.
That was fun! If you ever wanna do this, but worse, how about trying it out for Go Vacation? Island based activity game where you can also run around. Would love to see that
Another thing to consider: all of the golf is on a separate island some ways away from Wuhu Island, and while it has its own hotel building there, I imagine most resort guests who want to golf will have to pay some amount for access to/tickets for the ferry.
`0:15 Archery inside a volcano would cost you your life. Actually, doing anything inside a volcano would probably end you, no matter how much ventilation you have coming from an open crater above or tunnel in the side. `5:40 I'm not sure that these are foam swords. In fact, I don't even think they're plastic, at least not completely plastic. They don't flex. AT ALL. I'm pretty sure that they're either iron or steel with a rubber or plastic sheen to *slightly* reduce the impact. I think these things are deadly, and would almost certainly kill if medical care wasn't immediately available.
I'd assume there are more table tennis tables somewhere else on the island, but the idea of there just being one on the entire island is a lot funnier.

you forgot the custom blimp, the extra costs of insurance (vulcano) that the resort will make you pay for. also they most likely arrived to the resort by boat probably a cruise ship. also the balloons (and clean up) during island fly over
At that point, just round it up to a nice, smooth 30,000USD for a weeklong stay and transportation to the island TBH But hey, you can shave around 18,000USD off the price if you're already licensed to sky dive and pilot a plane, so that just makes it 12,000 for veteran sky people!
Then, of course, there's the whole ordeal of lodging. You're staying at a resort, so you gotta find a place to sleep! Renting a cabin starts at ~$120/night, and considering this is on a remote island, it's probably gonna run at least $60 more. BUT ALSO there's the option of staying at the 5-star Cocoba Hotel, a venture ranging from $500 to $2,000/NIGHT. With that in mind, a week trip to Wuhu Island would likely run you ~$30,000.
I think it might be cheaper because the flight school could just be a vr ride like the roller coaster ride in an arcade. Because actual flying would a liability risk. Located near the VR sword fighting.
Return Challenge: So, Greg has an infinite number of ping pong balls, right? So would an infinite amount of Ping Pong balls technically cost infinite money?
There’s probably a bit of Lost in Translation going on here, but the swordfighting is, in the Japanese version, specifically stated to be Sport Chanbara, a fairly obscure Japanese foam swordfighting sport. So while, as you said, there a tons of different types of foam swordfighting events out there, the one offered by the Wii Sports Resort is a specific one. Not sure how that’d change the price estimates. Not even sure if anyone’s out there running one-off sport chanbara events.
You know... not as bad as I was expecting. Like, don't get me wrong I'll probably never be able to afford it either way, but I was genuinely expecting this to be probably 10X as much.
I would imagine that the skydiving and planes would probably require people to already have the liscences? So maybe it would be the cost to rent the plane/equipment?
I would probably just want to do some of the activities individually whenever I felt like it, rather go to a resort and try to do all of them in a week.
i adore videos like these, it may be a small critique though when using money, it helps to know which currency youre using (USD in this case), since for me, 1 USD = 1.78 AUD, which would make my numbers look way different! awesome video ❤

Idk if ur still looking for suggestions but “what smash ultimate charcagers have canonically taken a life’ would be a fun video and also one that Ridley would qualify for
When I first heard about the sandals hotel, I thought you would only be able to enter if you were wearing sandals 😂. I don't know what my mind was thinking
If the sword quest was vr, couldn’t the airplane stuff be vr as well? I’m pretty sure a resort would not allow guests to fly planes that shoot at each other.
I... HAVE to wonder, like... how does this compare to, say, a week at Disney? Or something like that? Cuz... Idk. Somehow I was almost exoecting to hit 6 figs? I really won't know what things cost.
Theoretically, couldn't you say the Plane flyover could be some sort of VR thing as well? Especially since the dogfights most definitely couldn't be done as an actual activity

This the Game Theory we all needed.
Return Challenge: So, Greg has an infinite number of ping pong balls, right? So would an infinite amount of Ping Pong balls technically cost infinite money?
Also, the travel extensions to just to go to wedge Island to go golfing
Love your content
There’s probably a bit of Lost in Translation going on here, but the swordfighting is, in the Japanese version, specifically stated to be Sport Chanbara, a fairly obscure Japanese foam swordfighting sport. So while, as you said, there a tons of different types of foam swordfighting events out there, the one offered by the Wii Sports Resort is a specific one. Not sure how that’d change the price estimates. Not even sure if anyone’s out there running one-off sport chanbara events.
I go around RUclips videos and comment how long it took for them to mention America. 10 seconds.
>Island resort
>Nice town
>Great nature
>No cars (in the town or on the road, though there are a few parked)
Double your final price, lol.
3:43 for the archery, that is an awful idea, lol
This game is the closest thing I can afford to a vacation.
You know... not as bad as I was expecting. Like, don't get me wrong I'll probably never be able to afford it either way, but I was genuinely expecting this to be probably 10X as much.
I would imagine that the skydiving and planes would probably require people to already have the liscences? So maybe it would be the cost to rent the plane/equipment?
Honestly the pilot licenses being inclueed would be the biggest selling point for me. I could use it for when I travel to the Pilot Wings island
I would probably just want to do some of the activities individually whenever I felt like it, rather go to a resort and try to do all of them in a week.
i adore videos like these, it may be a small critique though when using money, it helps to know which currency youre using (USD in this case), since for me, 1 USD = 1.78 AUD, which would make my numbers look way different! awesome video ❤
love this video!
The big floppy hat is glorious.
The dogs...THE DOGS!!!
I like to imagine my Mii won an all-expense paid, lifetime membership to the resort because a cereal box told him so. 😂 I just wanna live the dream where anyone could basically live there without worry. Everyone pitches in for the labor to make it a utopia.
What about the new Mario Party Jamboree island resort. That looks like fun
How many smash characters have gotten to relax on a nice vacation?
Imagine if there was a resort that allows guests to fly a plane down the mouth of an active volcano
Idk if ur still looking for suggestions but “what smash ultimate charcagers have canonically taken a life’ would be a fun video and also one that Ridley would qualify for
So when is the deep dive into the real story behind the island dogs gonna drop?
When I first heard about the sandals hotel, I thought you would only be able to enter if you were wearing sandals 😂. I don't know what my mind was thinking
If the sword quest was vr, couldn’t the airplane stuff be vr as well? I’m pretty sure a resort would not allow guests to fly planes that shoot at each other.
I... HAVE to wonder, like... how does this compare to, say, a week at Disney? Or something like that? Cuz... Idk. Somehow I was almost exoecting to hit 6 figs? I really won't know what things cost.
I like her outfit
Love from Belgium 🇧🇪 ❤
Still cheaper than a ticket to the Las Vegas GP.
I learn today that resort activities are quite expensive.😊
Theoretically, couldn't you say the Plane flyover could be some sort of VR thing as well? Especially since the dogfights most definitely couldn't be done as an actual activity
