Why does everyone hate the lyrics? These lyrics make way more sense for Outlander. It sounds like it's about Claire, but the song also refers to the time period it's set in..... so I think it's a fitting appropriation.

I dont have an issue with the new lyrics. I think they missed an opportunity in not using the second verse of the original version to end season 2 though. "Many`s the lad died on that day Well the Claymore did wield, When the night fell, silently lay dead on Culloden`s field" Works so well!

+Ingysket Well I don't have a problem with the Skye Boat Song tune being used for Outlander and as I've always loved the Robert Louis Stevenson poem they've used I'm pleased with that too!
+Ingysket I sang the original in chorus about 5 years ago. Honestly I like this version better, I relate to it more since they changed Lad to Lass. I love the song either way it's one of my favorites and I'm very happy that they used it for Outlander.
My Mom is very much into Outlander right now, and she constantly hums this throughout the day. It's a lovely song, and it sounds lovely in her voice. :)
In Elementary School, OK, we were taught all sorts of songs like this. We sang them for Retirement homes, and they always had tears! We always adored them, 💕 singing, being adopted by them. But we were much too young, to appreciate the true feelings, love for what they gave up, to come to America! We gave them something back. Miracles happened, every year. Even saw a mute woman speak again. Songs have love in them, caring. My best friend's younger sis brought a woman out of shock, of the loss of her granddaughter. She just pretended with us that day, then she was released the next day. Songs are powerful.
I love this song. It will always remind me of Outlander and Scotland. But even more so, I love the image used. Its so symbolic to Jamie and Claire's love and the story line.

Who bore as firstborn a daughter in 1728, who married became a Fraser in 1747, whole who married a Van Horn in 1766, they then bore twins, one daughter and one son in 1767. The son bore a McKenzie and the daughter bore of a Saxon name Elizabeth, married a Irishman of the Bradfield. A lowly farmer with 43 head of cattle, 14 goats and 2 acred lots of land that had one crop, barely. Handed down from a blood debt with a Catholic bishop with his father. My 255 year genealogy lol

I have grown up listening Indian Classical music from my childhood being an Indian . Truly touched by the melody of the lyrics & composition. Thanks & bless you all who are the part of the creation
I remember about 1 year back I lost my grandfather at the age of 70, and I played this song on violin over his grave and hummed the song. It moved me and others I pushed through the song and tried to keep my tears in, it was difficult but once everybody left I was inconsolable. I just sat there over his grave hugging the tombstone for an hour. The worst part about the whole scenario is no one could see him before he died in surgery because of covid. It still chokes me up to this day.
The only themesong in historical period drama that I watched and didn't skip every episode 😍😍😍 Got hooked up with this song, not to mention the series itself. I felt at peace just by listening to it ❤

When a song is remade the lyrics cant be wrong. Its been remade. I love the original version and I love the Outlander version. Outlander is the best show to come along in a Very long time! I can watch it over and over. It is So well made! The costumes, the scenery, the writing. It all comes together in a way that so many shows fall short of. I look forward to many future seasons! Thanks for sharing this song version with the lyrics!

as an asian, it is nice to know this series. i love somehow the west culture particularly scotland. I am starting to like this series and sooner become my love one. I love Jamie/Sam :D i have a crush on him myy goodness
I know it's late but I too am an Asian, though I'd rather be Western. I've had this love for Western history since I leaned of knights and the purpose of kings, but it was an interest in more than just Scotland. I actually found this searching for a very obscure castle in the middle of nowhere within the Highlands, and found Outlander. I never start with the show as a rule, but as someone who can empathize pretty easily with Frank Randall, it's easy to fall in love with the book from the first page. Then I found the opening theme and it grew on me just like Game of Thrones did. It's midnight and a school day tomorrow, but I've got my Gordon clan genealogy chart to finish and this song playing. I think that's all I need for a whole month or two.
Kev Kevin - "...I love Jamie/Sam :D i have a crush on him myy goodness...". A guy who has a crush on another guy ??? Keep your deviant thoughts to yourself. Normal people don't want to know. We have to put up with that shit in just about every movie and TV show already. It's unnatural and always will be, no matter how much they try to force us to think otherwise.

I have seen each season of outlander multiple times, and this song never fails to speak to me. It never gets old listening to the beautiful voice singing about the lass that is gone...
I started reading the series when Outlander was the only book out yet! Having recommended it immediately to everyone I knew, I like to think I played a huge part in expanding the fan base! As good as the TV series is, it cannot do justice to the brilliance of the books. Read, people! It is truly a transcendent experience!! Hard to believe, but the Jamie of the written word is even sexier than Sam Heughan 😍😍

I am from India.. and I fell in love with Scotland and people of Scotland after watching this series... I hope to visit Scotland someday.. the music is very soulful ❤

Eu amo a série os atores a música é uma luz na minha alma me emociona profundamente talvez eu tenha vivido na Escócia em outra vida parece--me familiar tudo lindo ❤❤❤
Why does everyone hate the lyrics? These lyrics make way more sense for Outlander. It sounds like it's about Claire, but the song also refers to the time period it's set in..... so I think it's a fitting appropriation.
+Nook I
thank you!!!
hey people! it's just the lyrics and the song from the series"Outlander"!!! stop complaining!! djeezus....
I just like this song and the series, stop behaving like stupid people... it's just about this song, and not about the original one....

I only made this video because I like the series and it's a beautiful song... That's al!
+Nook I The original is what should have been used.

Whatever:)
beautiful lyrics. I cannot stop listening to this song. lirics combined with the movie.....it's perfection.
I dont have an issue with the new lyrics. I think they missed an opportunity in not using the second verse of the original version to end season 2 though.
"Many`s the lad died on that day
Well the Claymore did wield,
When the night fell, silently lay
dead on Culloden`s field"
Works so well!
The series made me fall in love with Scotland ! Am gonna dig in its history now ☺️
I always loved Ireland but never gave Scotland a second thought, after watching the show I'm fascinated by its history
the BBC says that this song and the series has led to an increase in tourism in Skye.
Dire 16 ???
I'm sorry that this is happening to you
Dire 16 That’s horrible omg, I hate people who don’t respect historical things, especially when it isn’t theirs to begin with.
Dire 16 is there a way to prevent it?
I think a lot of us might have this feeling, I want to go there....in fact, I want to go there....but then I have always wanted to go there.
I love the Scottish culture and everything about it, the music, traditional attire, anguages, accents, and everything else! I just started watching Outlander and it's feeding my love of ancient Scotland! ❤️
Maybe one day i could visit this beautiful country
I am from Malaysia.. love & glued to the series.. gonna watch it again! Season 6 please!!!!!❤❤❤

+Ingysket Well I don't have a problem with the Skye Boat Song tune being used for Outlander and as I've always loved the Robert Louis Stevenson poem they've used I'm pleased with that too!
Sheena Wellington thank you :)
👌
+Ingysket I sang the original in chorus about 5 years ago. Honestly I like this version better, I relate to it more since they changed Lad to Lass. I love the song either way it's one of my favorites and I'm very happy that they used it for Outlander.

For the love I have for all my Scottish ancestors and their trials . Gone but not forgotten 🥰😥😭

Once upon a time, a McLaughlin married a McClintock in 1727.

Fell in love with Scotland after this series. From Indian girl 🇮🇳💜
Just started watching Outlander in newzealand and m in love with it...this song and the singer is amazing
This is my favorite rendition of the song. Her voice is so light and beautiful. What a beautiful love story.
I'm sorry for your loss.
I am so very sorry 😞

Your welcome !! :D
This version of the song is from the poem by robert louis stevenson.

One of the best series I've ever seen.
The landscape reminds me at Anne with an e series.
as an asian, it is nice to know this series. i love somehow the west culture particularly scotland. I am starting to like this series and sooner become my love one. I love Jamie/Sam :D i have a crush on him myy goodness
Kev Kevin so? Race doesn't have to do with anything about liking a song and show
I know it's late but I too am an Asian, though I'd rather be Western.
💗
Kev Kevin - "...I love Jamie/Sam :D i have a crush on him myy goodness...".
A guy who has a crush on another guy ??? Keep your deviant thoughts to yourself. Normal people don't want to know. We have to put up with that shit in just about every movie and TV show already. It's unnatural and always will be, no matter how much they try to force us to think otherwise.

Just started this show last night. Love it and like many others I fell in love with this song straight away. I'll read the books one day.

It’s such a beautiful tune….. pipe bands have been playing it for centuries. It’s a Scottish adaptation of a Gaelic song composed in 1782.
