I just took the rubber gromet off the door and bent the hose of an oil penetration spray can and sprayed in there. Worked like a charm didnt take anything else apart.
Thank you very much, excellent info. It took me around 1 min! to open my locked rear door THANKS TO YOUR instructions. Also Thanks for showing removed door handle. It showed geometry of the handle inside of the door. It allowed me to lubricate all mechanisms without removing the handle(s) from the doors. I did preventive lubrication thru the round hole in the door.
Remove the little round grommet- squirt WD40 down thru the hole onto the hinge..work the handle a bit after setting some and poof done without tearing door apart Just did my front passenger side door that way and it now works fine. I have a 05 F350 crew...
Thanks man! You saved my bacon. 3 of the 4 doors on my crew cab were doing this. One of the back doors has been stuck closed and locked for years. With your video I was able to get the back doors open and working again by simply removing the ugly and spraying in some liquid wrench and working the lever back and forth using a 3/8 hex key to move the lever all the way home. Passenger front door handle is better but still sticky. I'll have to remove it to see if I can get it working or if it will need replaced. Either way, this video saved me a ton of guessing and checking, lots of frustration, a few busted knuckles, and quite a bit of work. Really appreciate it!
Fantastic "how to fix it" video. Now I can fix my 2001 350 using this video. Thanks so much. This will save me at least $400-500 at the dealer's service department.
I watched many videos, but this one worked, thanks! I also was able to get my WD-40 straw where it needed to go without taking anything apart (other than the inner door panel.)
Excellent video, winter came so I put it off. After I got the door opened ( your way, thank you ) I pulled off the grommet and saw what needed some w-D40. 2008 f350. I actually thought about drilling a hole in the edge of of the door until I opened the door and saw the grommet. Very easy job, great video. Thanks again.
Great instructional video! A couple of times I was driving not realizing that my latch didn't connect on the drivers side, and when I took a corner my door flew open....scary feeling! Thanks for the upload!!
I remember my folks owning several dodge cars in the 1970 that would freeze up in winter after a trip to the car wash, and would almost latch but not close, just bounce back like in your intro! Great fix! Ivan would be proud! No parts needed!
I have an f450 1999. Couldn’t get the panel off. Clips are to tight. Also I have a manual knob for the window. Did that make a difference do you think?
@@debspeakes9750 Deb, were you able to get the manual window crank off? There is a special tool to remove the handle. One everything is removed, the door panel has to be pushed up first about 2 inches, then it should come off. (if I remember correctly) The door panel is not held on with clips. It has fingers that are on 45 degree angles that that are part of the door panel that fall into a slot. If you pause this video as the panel is coming off, you can see them.
I doubt this will get noticed but here’s a shot. Any thoughts on my case in particular? The rear passenger door is locked and won’t unlock. The assembly will move so it’s not the issue in the video here. I’ve disassembled the door panel while the door is shut and I can see with a flashlight that the assembly moves just fine. But moving the interior and exterior handles, the door doesn’t unlatch. Is there any way I can unlock my back door without opening it? Update: It opens now. But won’t close. Again the rod moves, the actuator works fine but the door latch doesn’t catch correctly. I’m pretty sure I need to replace the latch at this point
my kids have been a scooting in from the passenger rear for a year now. thx. and that truck looks an awful lot like mine - crumpled truckbed, flitlhy interior with cat litter ;)
That is a correct way to get it open BUT...nonreason to take the door panel apart at all Remove that rubber plug and That actuator arm is right there... Just use a screwdriver to work and back n forth few times as you spray a lubricant right below that arm on the actuator..BAM,,,fixed I don't use WD40 for anything,it is really just a water displacement, not a lube I use either Kroil or a mix a 50/50 acetone/transmission fluid..nothing beats them..nothing
If you take off the grommet above the latch you can spray wd40 onto the spring. Use a flashlight to see what you’re doing. Keep the window up for a few days until all the oil dries.

Thank you so much for this video. I could not find the answer anywhere else. My rear door now works easily and flawlessly. Thanks again.

Scratch that period by the end of the day that passed her side door was working also :)
Use fluid film on that spring loaded mechanism, it will never stick again

Undoing and relatching that little green clip was a pain, but I got everything back together and it works. Thanks for the video.

Great video. Clear, concise, and no bullshit.

@@unclemarksdiyauto yes i got the crank off.its the fingers i was calling clips. they are very tight. i was afraid i might break them.
@@debspeakes9750 I am glad you were able to access the inside of the door. Keep in touch, Deb.
Thank-you sir. Appreciated from Ottawa Valley Canada
Thanks for your video my back has been that way for a year works great now lol
I was about to unscrew the hinges and get a screwdriver to it. Thanks for the info! Ill give it a shot.
Wow that was easy. Thanks a million. I was about to start mule kicking the door till it opened
Thanks. Right rear door is not operating from the outside. This info is going to fix it. Good content!
Thank you so very much sir...I had the issue of the doors not unlocking and your video helped me. Hope all's well, ☺️👍

Very helpful! Thank you for making this video !
Do i need to get driver door aligned after replacing the door. 2003 f350 superduty
I would’ve put a dab of grease on that spring piece to keep it lubricated.
Fantastic video,,,,, thank you very much…….
Excellent video!!! Thx.

Great video.
How about doing a child safety lock fix? I can’t find not one video for this problem. Thanx again
thankyou for sharing this video/ easy as pie saved lots of time

Really good thank you so much that was pretty good
Couldn’t you do this without disassemble?
If you take off the grommet above the latch you can spray wd40 onto the spring. Use a flashlight to see what you’re doing. Keep the window up for a few days until all the oil dries.
Thank you, you are very helpfull
Thank you!
