I’m curious how you’ve improved on your process since you made this video. I’m not one to criticize your process, but I’m sure you’ve figured out some improvements by now. Greetings from a South African biltong maker in South Louisiana.
From one of your nation's biggest sporting rivals, I have to admit that whatever you Aussies do, you do very well. Great vid. You have a new subscriber and supporter all the way over in Cape Town, South Africa.
Wow. To hear that from a South African about a biltong video means a lot! Thank you! Also, I still think about Dale Steyn's 10 wicket haul at the MCG in 2008!
Hi.. I searched for "how to make farmer's cheese" and your video from 3 years ago popped up first... excellent, easy to follow video! Thank you! You have a new subscriber! This biltong looks very good.. I have never heard of it.
5 or 10. Must be very low... all you want to do is make the air in the box dry by creating enough of a temperature change to create airflow. You don't want the bulb to heat the air or meat hanging near.
@@tontobb8956 Bro, the hot air at the top escapes and causes a draft of air... You don't want too much heat in a dry box, just movement of air. The hot air isn't there to dry the meat, just help move air through the box.
@@UrbanSelfSufficiencyis there a temperature range that is required? The temperature in my area almost never goes above 80, but I often see temps of 88 to 92 mentioned. Edit 27, and 31 to 33 for metric

I have a question if you wanted to be more red inside, should you marinate it for less?
This is the most popular snack my mates will have when camping. I wish I had room for a box. Where do you store your box, inside somewhere or outside?
At the moment, because the novelty is so great, just in the dining room 😂.
But later, I will keep it under the house.
Great Bolton recipe. I’ve been making Bolton for years. Biltongs my favorite besides your peanut butter and chocolate fudge.

Thanks Linnie!
The biltong is a South African version of Beef Jerky basically. It's very tasty.
@@UrbanSelfSufficiency I forgot, I also shared this video on my Facebook page!
Looks delicious. I'll take some
Yeah, it was really simple to make. I think if you live in an area where it's not too humid, you could easily make it without the box, too.
excelent well done i like it a lot thanks
What is the watts of the bulb?

The globe should be on the bottom as hot air rises bro.

@thejohnbeck all good. Anything between 77 to 95 would be fine. And humidity less than 50%

Do you want some meat with your salt?
The salt is important, it helps to preserve the meat and prevent rotting. Source: I'm South African
Much love.
Nope
You wouldn't try to make it yourself, or you don't like biltong?
Nope
