I'm not one to reach out to my community in this manner normally but, starting at 3pm Sunday, through all day Monday and into Tuesday afternoon, DO NOT DRIVE YOUR VEHICLE - ANYWHERE - every street will be iced over and you will have absolutely no control over your vehicle. Stay home, stay safe.

I'm 65 and iv'e lived in Minnesota all my life. This is a typical forecast for Thanksgiving week, although temps have been above average untill about a week ago. Today Valentine's Day it is -20F an 10mph wind. That is normal here for this time of year. NOTE: unless you can walk a mile without danger of hypothermia you are not dressed warm enough. Body heat will suddenly drop off. I learned this during a time when I walked to work. Dress in layers so you can adjust the insulation you're wearing as temps change and your body or vehicle warms. Unfortunately many of you Texans do not have the proper clothing on hand. Unless you have experienced sub-zero temps and wind it may be best to stay home or find a weather experienced neighbor who could assist you with errands. Simply put a lot of you need a cold weather guide on your Minnesota Safari.
Keep your pets indoors! Check on elderly neighbors! Open warming centers for homeless. Prep shelters scour there be power outages! Those who can, get a generator, but run it outdoors or you will die.
Before it hits do the shopping for winter gear and food if you can. Many of us northern people are telling you all because many of us are sitting -25 degrees that it is like you 30 degrees. We have the experience, get blankets, water, a prep kit if possible. Otherwise, team up with someone else, or if you have everything stay home, warm, and safe. Prayers for Texas that she can weather this storm coming your way. Blessings
Just avoid driving on it, stock up on food items, don't use gas heaters or things that produce carbon monoxide in or near your house. Drip hot and cold water in faucets! Keep flash lights and extra blankets. Bring in pets and plants too! Stay safe

@@jaredpatterson1701 That's not what global warming means. Global warming means an increase in the average global temperature, which throws weather systems out of whack leading to more extreme weather scenarios like extremely cold winters in some parts of the world.
