The band was a real blues band that started on Saturday Night Live but went on to make studio albums. They felt privileged to play for Cab
Wow didn't know that
No, Cab Galloway played jazz starting in the 1930s. The Blues Brothers put these jazz artists !music to a new generation of listeners!
One of the best things 'The Blues Brothers' did was to preserve this classic performance on film.
Exactly 💯
What was great about this movie (The Blues Brothers) was that they featured a lot of wonderful artists who didn't have many years left, and exposed them to a new generation, making their fame live on....
I was blessed enough to have had a cool dad who took me to NYE in SF and got to do the hiding ho sing back with the master of swag. If you look back he was the original popular rock star decades ahead of Elvis and Prince...
Cab was easily the greatest all around entertainer who ever lived by far -all genres!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I quote others from other reactions, but, God, the band musicians, they know that, if for nothing else, they got immortal for this gig with the trailblazing Cab Calloway.
Just look at the joy on Steve Cropper’s face!
The original of this is back in the 30's with Cab Callaway and his band
Fun Fact: Mr Cab was 73 when they made this movie
Amazing watching this and seeing how Cab was able to dance and everything 50 years later and nowadays musicians can barely sing
You should also show Cab's MUCH YOUNGER self singing the same song in the 1930's!
Exactly, he was rocking and rolling back in the 30s. Read his book and watch his movies and appreciat the talent...
This is the unedited version of the song that was edited and intercut in the Blues Brothers film---thanks for reacting to this!!! Both Cab and the Blues Brothers band are exceptional.
YOU TWO are a dream and REALLY APPRECIATE great music. A BIG HUG to the both of you!!
Yes it’s a beautiful thing the original the black and white is also available film back in I guess it’s the 30s
Cab Calloway in the Blues Bros had first performed this @ 45 years before.
Crazy facts... Cab himself wanted to do his disco version for the movie, but was thankfully talked out of it. Also guess my namesake, and it's jazz related.
SEXIEST music EVER made!!
You two are having so much fun. Those were the good days!
I haven't seen that sence The Blues Brothers. Loved that movie and Cab Callaway that was fun to watch.
Thank you
I dig that you reacted to this!
Thanks for sharing this with us!
My pop saw Cab do this at the Cotton Club in the 40’s!
Awesome! I know he enjoyed every moment.
You like hip-hop? This man invented hip-hop. Not Frank Sinatra, not Scatman Crothers. Cab did it first. All due credit to Frank and Scatman, but Cab did it all in '31. Oh, and to be clear: you can look up 20 different lyric sites and get 20 different "lyrics" for that line you can't follow, but when I do karaoke for this (always a hit), I just do, "Zip-dip-diddle-ip-zip-dip-diddle-ip-zip-dit-zoop-dip-dip-dip--dit-zoy," or some such; it sounds right when I do it off the cuff. Try to follow along; it's Cab, and the best you can do is try and keep up. Originator of hip hop, and none better as of yet.
Chicken wings, yes! Sweet tea, no way!
Please watch the version from betty boop it's so good!!!!!!
❣️❣️❣️
Hi Jeffrey and Mrs. Lockdown! You should watch Cab do this in his heyday, too: ruclips.net/video/8suquDgg0dw/видео.html Back when he had all his moves!
React to cab Calloway Minnie the Moocher Live 1988
His song from 1931 this is 1979
This one's even earlier that the Minnie the Moocher I linked to in the last comment, but it's a lot of fun too: ruclips.net/video/spBLdH5mtyk/видео.html
