The band was a real blues band that started on Saturday Night Live but went on to make studio albums. They felt privileged to play for Cab

No, Cab Galloway played jazz starting in the 1930s. The Blues Brothers put these jazz artists !music to a new generation of listeners!

One of the best things 'The Blues Brothers' did was to preserve this classic performance on film.

What was great about this movie (The Blues Brothers) was that they featured a lot of wonderful artists who didn't have many years left, and exposed them to a new generation, making their fame live on....

I was blessed enough to have had a cool dad who took me to NYE in SF and got to do the hiding ho sing back with the master of swag. If you look back he was the original popular rock star decades ahead of Elvis and Prince...

I quote others from other reactions, but, God, the band musicians, they know that, if for nothing else, they got immortal for this gig with the trailblazing Cab Calloway.

Amazing watching this and seeing how Cab was able to dance and everything 50 years later and nowadays musicians can barely sing

You should also show Cab's MUCH YOUNGER self singing the same song in the 1930's!

This is the unedited version of the song that was edited and intercut in the Blues Brothers film---thanks for reacting to this!!! Both Cab and the Blues Brothers band are exceptional.

Crazy facts... Cab himself wanted to do his disco version for the movie, but was thankfully talked out of it. Also guess my namesake, and it's jazz related.

You like hip-hop? This man invented hip-hop. Not Frank Sinatra, not Scatman Crothers. Cab did it first. All due credit to Frank and Scatman, but Cab did it all in '31. Oh, and to be clear: you can look up 20 different lyric sites and get 20 different "lyrics" for that line you can't follow, but when I do karaoke for this (always a hit), I just do, "Zip-dip-diddle-ip-zip-dip-diddle-ip-zip-dit-zoop-dip-dip-dip--dit-zoy," or some such; it sounds right when I do it off the cuff. Try to follow along; it's Cab, and the best you can do is try and keep up. Originator of hip hop, and none better as of yet.
