I'm having trouble visualizing if adding a wire creates a ground loop, but you may want to make sure you aren't. I don't know how bad a ground loop is with a guitar circuit, but I know it can be a problem with speakers and computers. I had a speaker plugged into an outlet on a separate electric box from my computer and even though both electric box were grounded to the same ground, they connected at different points that created a very slight voltage difference that turned all the wiring into an antenna or something that had my speakers blasting static.
I recently had to replace the pickups on my deluxe strat - and there is supposed to be a ground connection from S1 switch to the 2nd tone pot - which that strat seems to be missing...
This guitar was missing several ground wires. Fender was relying on the shielding on the pickguard to ground all of the controls together. They should be connected to each other with ground wires. They are now.
I’m having a ground issue with my Voodoo Strat. There’s a buzz which goes away when I touch the bridge or trem bar. I’ve replaced the wire from the volume pot to the claw and replaced the wires to the jack but no improvement. It’s driving me nuts 🙁
So buy an American strat and get something that isn't wired properly even the cheap Chinese strats ground the pots. For what they charge you'd think that the thing would be perfect before sending it home with somebody who probably worked their ass off saving up to buy one. My older one has alot more simple wiring vthan these new ones and anything I'm building looks like it's wired more neatly than that gobbered up mess of soldering.
THANK YOU Very much, You were Very helpful and saved me worry and aggravation. .

Great video. I have exactly the same guitar - do you by any chance have the wiring schemnatic for it?

Jesus what a mess !!
shut up man
i like how you just flip the pick guard upside-down on top of the body, possibly scratching the fuck out of the guitar!...
Pete's never been particularly respectful of other people's gear, or his own for that matter. The guy is a masterful craftsman though.
