- Find out how a hatchetfish survives its daily journey from the depths of the ocean’s Twilight Zone to the resource-rich surface.
--
You’re traveling deep beneath the ocean’s surface, where faint lights flicker and toothy grins flash. Your mission is to survive these depths and journey to the surface after sundown to feed. And as a hatchetfish, almost every other deep-sea creature is trying to eat you. Can you complete the quest? Philip Renaud and Kenneth Kostel share how to survive the ocean's Twilight Zone.

Theres just something about these animations that make me wanna watch all of ted ed content
they are addictive
Yeah me too but unfortunately I'm too late to watch them all
It is a dimension as vast as space and as timeless as infinity. It is the middle ground between light and shadow, between science and superstition, and it lies between the pit of man's fears and the summit of his knowledge. This is the dimension of imagination. It is an area which we call Serling's Twilight Zone.
Funnily enough that actually describes the ocean twilight zone very well
Great!
beautiful
The Scary Door
Truly a classic 👌
The Narrator does sound like he'd be perfect for narrating the Twilight Zone.
I like this video game style

I think there is an error with the crediting of the Narrator.
He is obviously not Jack Cutmore-Scott, who has a more husky sound.
The Narrator of this video should be Addison Anderson right?

He is Addison Anderson
Such a soothing voice he has:)
Yes, same here! It's so nice to listen too :)
I'd certainly not, diving alone for me is daunting.
Never dive alone!
I love how they find a way to make almost every TED-Ed video a story, no matter what the topic is. It really helps for someone like me, who has an easier time understanding information in the form of a plot, rather than bullet points.
I thought this was about how I could survive that show at first...... this is better
No one survives the show The Twilight Zone. No one in our reality anyway.

Give the narrator an award man. He can sound informative yet so mysterious
Kurzgesagt uploaded another existential crisis and TED-Ed gave me another answer I wanted to a question I never had in the same day; today is a good day.
I know right - though I'm already in the middle of several existential crises - as much as I love their videos - (and these) - been avoiding the other one for once...

This is genuinely one of the most creative, fun, and engaging TED-Ed videos I've ever watched, and the animation is immaculate! Amazing work! ❤️
TED-Ed has finally collaborated with TierZoo
“The light is a bioluminescent lure belonging to an anglerfish.” That’s like Marlin & Dory playing with a light before realizing that it belongs to an anglerfish and quickly swimming away.
There's something terrifying about deep sea creatures
The ocean is terrifying in general...I'll just stick to swimming in a kiddy pool...if the opportunity arises. 😅
But intriguing
can you imagine how deep sea creatures look on jurrassic period or far more ancient period. must be very interesting
These animator's aesthetic sense is on another level !!!!
They always answer the questions I’ve wanted to know about
"But you must repeat this journey everynight for the rest of your life"
Me- ooo that hurts
Hy... what's your name?
Finally some comedy "just kidding you don't have a choice" yes
"a little luck" *proceeds to fill the whole bar up*

Ted-ed should make games like these, fully immersing in the daily life of your character, or the story of your character like Hercules, and then while playing gives you facts and tips on your adventure
"Just kidding. You don't have a choice. You're a hatchetfish."
"Your wonderful creation will now be discarded."
I CANNOT emphasise enough how much the deep sea fascinates me. Its like a whole other dimension.
They really did my boy Tier Zoo like that.
The storyline and animation reminds me of TierZoo 😭

This video was exceptionally well done, from the information to the entertaining presentation style. Well done
I love this format! Giving me big tierzoo vibes
The initial intro quote is always amazing and very ...
such beautiful animation, writing, & narration!! i always look foreward to these videos :)
'Little luck' proceeds to almost maximise the counter.
Aquarium hatchetfish are adorable, deep sea ones look so much like something you'd expect to see in Courag The Cowardly Dog.
They uploaded a new video so quickly 👍👍Bravo!
Please consider doing a video on diabetes. It's a glaring omission in your excellent series and would help those suffering from the disease tremendously. Thank you.

I wonder how you guys make such Quality Animation with such accurate information in a short amount of time, I know you guys probably has team's that works on Audio, Research, and Audio but still it's impressive.
I know that this is a shot video but it also takes time. idk if you guys just stock on videos that is already done and publishing it on a date, I would appreciate if you answer
Imagine being a hatchet fish that came all the way from the twilight zone, escaping three predators just to get nabbed by a fisherman

This is amazing. To say the least
My favorite narratoR!
Ted Ed has so many different art styles that they are single handedly employing 90 percent of art graduates
The artwork in these vids are so pretty
someone should make this into a real game!

I honestly wonder too if we would survive the twilight zone! Good for the hatchetfish though, they got life covered!
I never expected to see Insaniquarium style graphics from Ted-ed. Brings back memories

Neat idea for a new animated series or game in the App Store.
Make Twilight zone a game!

*The narrator is so sensual. It gets me every time.*
"and a little bit of luck"

Hey Ted-ed! I think you should make little educational games! The animation is amazing in every video!

There are literally so many fish at any moment fighting for their life. I shouldn't complain about my life

Three of my favorite things are _The Twilight Zone,_ the natural world and Ted-Ed animations.

"And you'll need a little bit of luck" *The luck meter goes all the way high*
You should make more videos like this
very interesting way of education
The animation 😍
Midnight zone next time please. 😊
beautiful 🐠
Awesomeness Mr Serling himself would be proud of.
Unrelated but- I love the narrator's voice. And I've only ever had such an experience two times:
1. My best friend's cousin's voice made me blush the first time I heard it. Don't ask why.
2. My brother was having an office call and I heard hus colleague who's voice -my goodness this was the worst case- made me actually turn off the stove and focus completely on him. After the call I had asked my brother who that was and was almost gonna ask him for a favor and record his calls from then onwards. But yeah I decided against it cos he was giving me that weird look which i knew better than to bother.
Again, don't ask why.
I glad we got a more cartoony style. Those haunt my dreams
I love the way this animation is similar to mobile games in the first part
Having played subnautica, this was giving me some flashbacks xD. Awesome video!
