That's an echo or parrot repeater, they are popular in Europe, I've used them for 30 years to make skip contacts. They are especially useful to make contacts with other UK stations who are normally too close for skip but are out of range of direct communication.
Germans have 80 channels, 40 mid band, cept, US whatever you call it, 40 fm channels below that, what was is called low band. Am originally was only available on first 12 channels mid band 1 watt. Which that rig looks like it might be.
Hi yes it is that layout but channel 1 is mids channel 1, channel 41 is channel 1 of the lows. Normally the lows first and mids after, its all the wrong way round as in the title, but a nice little rig. Thanks for the info, spot on by the sounds of it, much appreciated, all the best , Mark 👍
When Germany legalised cb in the mid 1970's it was only 12 channels am 1 watt only, I think it was the first 12 channels of "mid/fcc" band. Fm and the whole 80 channels came much later!.
@@britishcbradio1055 the stabo brand was big in Germany years ago, they had some nice rigs. All "multinorm" am-fm rigs wiil do the German 80 channel cb band.
Its weird there low power obsession but i suppose our government stuck in 0.4w. Put your 500mw into a burner wonder what the output would be? Then dx to germany now theres a challenge! 😎
@@britishcbradio1055 yes weird strange marko yes your right I did put in 25 watts Bremi burner got about 8 watts if I remember right I just got the marko just for the collection. 👍

Just had a look online and stabo are still selling cb's!!.
Thanks, Elliot, for that info.
@@elliotspencer2648 i will have to check them out didnt expect them to still be around
Interesting, but why make the low channels with a higher channel? Crazy!
German engineering at its best!“vorsprung de technik” 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Because channels 1-40 were legalised first, when they added another 40 channels they made them 41-80.
@@delboyonline weird having the lows above the mids, but at least they got the lows.
channel 75 sounds like a parrot repeater...
