The Forgotten Children- A UK PANS/PANDAS Documentary

Hi, I am the director of this short documentary and my name is Melanie. With my brother suffering from this condition first hand I have seen the struggle my parents face trying to get a diagnosis and getting people to understand what this condition entails and how it changes your child sporadically and I wanted to raise awareness on that. On all the struggles so many families face day-to-day and how this condition is so difficult at times. I wanted this documentary to be the voice of every family who suffers from PANS/PANDAS. A voice you can show to doctors, schools and anyone who can't even begin to understand what this condition is about. I hope this documentary inspires change and that all myself and my team's hard work is put out into the world to inspire a call to action. I hope that one day families like yourselves won't be worried or fear judgement for this condition and that it leads to being recognised and treated throughout the UK.
I want to also say a thank you to everyone who participated in the interviews, sending archive footage and even parents contributing with phrases their children have said. These were all integral to documentary film-making and without these contributors, there would be no documentary. I understand it can be difficult to talk about this condition publicly so for those who did, I thank you very much. I'd also like to thank the charity for supporting me throughout this project and aiding me in sourcing contributors and other opportunities for this documentary and for myself as a filmmaker.
