After you did this swap, did the heated seat then work as well? My grips AND seat do not work but have been told by a dealer that if the grip(s) go bad, that the seat will then not work too, I also have a 2006 GL-1800 and in MN, the heated grips and seat are a blessing in the spring!
@@russmarsolek3729 So turn your grips to the off position start the bike and see if your seat works. My seat only worked with the grips off. Now everything works independently.
@@TepcoCycleRepair I'll check this tomorrow but I had been told by dealers as well as riders that if a grip(s) is bad that the seat too will not work either? I looked closely at my left grip and like you had mentioned in one of your videos, my wires were way up high as well, almost to an 11:00 position. I'm pretty sure that is my issue. Made a photo of it but I don't see how I could send it to you. Anyway...I like your video and I'll be ordering the Show Chrome grip soon!
@@russmarsolek3729 that's how my wires were as well. If the grips are in the off position the seat should work, mine did. These show chrome grips are nice, I'm putting the throttle side on tomorrow, might try to cut the old one off and save the original throttle tube before I decide to use the new tube I have. Stay tuned!
@@TepcoCycleRepair you were correct. My seat DOES heat when the grips are off (and the grips do now work anyway!). I'll be ordering the Show Chrome set within a week. THANKS FOR YOUR HELP!
Nice video on replacement of grips! Good work!

If your seat still doesn't work with the grips off, watch my diagnosis video.
