@ I was googling things yesterday, and discovered that in 2022 David was interested in doing a director's cut that could have been 4 hours long. I guess nothing ever came of it, though.
I'm not that disappointed we never got a sequel since David Lynch would go on to direct Blue Velvet. Still, it's a shame that we never got to see his vision. There were discussions of a director's cut back in the day. It all must have been too painful.
Eh. It's alright for what it is. They really bear no resemblance to one another. I enjoy certain things about each one that the other lacks. I think 2021 is an overall better presentation of the story and characters, but 1984 has the amazing Toto soundtrack. Both are great.
@@hamupinhere I also think that they respected each other too much. It was clearly Lucas's pet (no matter who directed it). And plus, I can't imagine David Lynch putting up with Lucas hovering around every shot lol! But still, what if...
Tragic that Lynch wasn't allowed to present his vision for this or the follow-ons that he had planned. But would we still have gotten Blue Velvet, Mulholland Drive, or Twin Peaks?
“George Lucas showed me this thing he called a Wookie” - David Lynch
This is maybe my favourite interview with him. Brilliant haha!
Bob wow Bob
It's strange hearing Lynch speaking positively about Dune.
He didn't become disillusioned with it until he lost control in the editing room. Until then he was all in.

@@greyeyed123 DUNE workprint was 6 hours long.
Really underrated film
David was the kwisatz haderach.
Brilliant! Great observation. Never thought of him that way but its kinda perfect.
Just like in Dune, there is more than one Kwisatz Haderach
I've always loved Lynch's Dune.
Always interesting, never boring

RIP, legend
Lynch's Dune 1984 is WAY more entertaining than the Denis' Dune films

That is at least highly debatable.
Depends on what part of one's brain needs entertainment.
I'm definitely not enjoying the hype around Denis' Dunes.
@@pickyroman So you never saw them.
@starwarsunfiltered7848 No resemblance? Did you see both movies? 2021 one looks like cheap copy play both movies at the same time.
Working on the script for Dune 2???
It would have been Dune Messiah. Would have been better than the first.
The incomplete screenplay for Dune 2 by Lynch was recently rediscovered! It’s online if you look hard enough
He was briefly considered for helming "Return Of The Jedi". Makes you wonder how that would've turned out.
He was totally disinterested lol there is a very funny interview of him talking about it
@@juergen_von_strangle I'll have to look that up, but that's a shame to learn. We could've had reversed-speaking Ewoks.

Good over evil metaphor ? I don't know about that 🤣
thank you al rooker

For the mess it was im thankful for it thank you david lynch for everything 😢x
An honest man. Dead from emphysema in his late 70s.
He was basically 80 how long do you think he could live some push towards 90 but most people die 60/80yrs old
Star Wars was way more influenced by Flash Gordon and the Lensman series of books than Dune.
rip
Stop blowing up this great 4:3 archival footage to 16:9. It looks terrible. Please post the original aspect ratio
Dune couldn’t match Star Wars
Jan 20th can’t come fast enough
Why whats then
Not sure what that has to do with David Lynch.
@@rogerwalker3969it’s lynch bday yo
It really is his birthday! Haha!
