Hey, could this be build with a passive volume control and source switch as a "integrated amp" or does this SE200 config need a dedicated preamp? Thanks so much btw. I would also be interested in a SE200 SE230 comparison. Sadly only the 200 is available at this time.
Yes it could be built with a passive pre and switching in one box, I have used one with a 0 gain pre amp with great results. Switched inputs is just as many inputs as you like if the switch used can handle the no.
The latest offerings from Avondale Audio the SE series of amplifiers (SE200, SE230 and the mighty SE400) are quite stunning. The SE200 is a DIY module the later are not. You send your amp to Avondale and they will retro fit the SE230 or SE400 for you.
