This is not fair to single parents (head of household) who has a 16-year-old all year and then turned 17 in December and young adolescents 24 and younger still at home
What am I doing wrong please?!?! Using this example: If her taxable income is $29,854, and the first $11K is taxed at 10% ($1,100) and the remaining $18,854 is taxed at 12% ($2,262)---Why isn't her tax liability $3,362?
The idea is to raise an independent, responsible, independent adult. You don't wait until they're 21 years old to start. They should be working and contributing to their expenses as teens.
Good question! For the Child Tax Credit you do not need to have earned income in order to qualify for the credit. If you are also trying to qualify for the Earned Income Tax Credit (EIC), you will need to have some earned income from employment.
My teenage son (19) drinks one gallon of milk a day. Yep. I agree. They should could until 21 yrs age, unless they get married prior to that age.
Yes! Removing the under 17 age limit would help so many more families
