I *love* this movie. In the early 1990s, my friend Bob Sawdey was in Amsterdam. He stepped onto a hotel elevator and recognized James Hong. Bob said, "Hey, aren't you..." at which point Mr. Hong turned to him and as Bob put it, "He became *Lo Pan* right before my eyes. No makup, no costume, but he was there!" It freaked Bob right out, he said-and I believed every word.
What a superb homage to Big Trouble! I had to rewatch the movie shortly after seeing this. :) Easily the best of the Gangnam Style parodies. The production values are just fantastic. It's an absolute crime that eight years after release, there are still < 2 million views. Likely because so few know about it...I enjoyed BTLC in the theaters upon release, just heard about this last week. Maybe seen it ten times since. :)
The was boss. Mr. Hong is the man! Without him, it probably just be another shot of an elevator and it only goes down but, hey, I guess that's alright. Shame you couldn't shoot the video in Lo Pan's office, its cooler up there.
Awesome project. What's most impressive to me beyond the obvious production value and passion put into it, is there is almost no shoehorning, which is usually awful in parody songs. Every syllable and inflection matches the song without feeling out of place. The only one that's noticable is when it sounds like he's singing "needle love" instead of "needle of love" to cut that one syllable out. Great homage to one of my top 5 movies ever, bonus points for bringing James Hong in. Would love to see a behind the scenes.
Big Trouble is one of my all time favourite movies... I used to rent the VHS repeatedly from my local video store just to get my Lo Pan/Burton fix as a teenager. Now, 20+ years later, this homage to Big Trouble is my all time favourite RUclips video!! I don't think it would be possible to produce a better tribute.... everything is PERFECT. And James Hong in the mix too?!? Wow!! Thanks for making this Wekejay... awesome!!! 😃👌
When this film was in theaters me and my friends biked to the big theater in town to see it every weekend. I'm pleased to say that in the last four years, I have seen it on the big screen- on film, not digital transfer- three times. It's a perfect have-fun movie. Somehow it keeps topping itself every few scenes. Carpenter's a master and Russell is the man; they teamed up to make three of my all-time favorite films: Big Trouble, the Thing, and Escape from NY.
This video inspired me to watch BTILC again tonight. James Hong is 80 freaking years old, and he doesn't look a day over 55. This is so awesomely hilarious!
This is effin awesome! Best movie ever. Only a fan of the film could lampoon it with such affection. "We really shook the pillars of heaven, didn't we, Wang?"
Love this video. One of the best. Even better that John Carpenter is a big fan of it and Lo Pan himself, James Hong, gave his time to play a part in it. I'd say his check was in the mail. LOL :)
This is f*cking awesome. Big Trouble in Little China is tied for my #1 favorite movie of all time. The fact that you got the original Lo-Pan to make a cameo is amazing.
Such an amazing parody of this song! I used to watch this movie on repeat as a kid. I'm pretty sure Raiden from Mortal Kombat originated through this movie.
"INDEEEED!!!!!" Had me on the FLOOR! My sibling and i as a reflex say it that way in NORMAL conversation because of this movie :) Classic! This parody is now my new favorite!
I love the movie, and this video which was absolutely AWESOME! I t was a treat to see James Hong here revising his role as "David Lo Pan" from the film! John Carpenter would be proud! 😊😂😎😂
Lo Pan: "And when I find her, I will marry her..." Wang: "NEVER!" Lo Pan: "... and Shing Dai will be happy and my curse will be lifted." Jack: "And go off to rule the world from beyond the grave..." Lo Pan: "INDEED!" Jack: "... or check into a psycho ward, whichever comes first, huh?"
this vide is so amazing, and you just sit there nodding your head, smiling like a idiot, then james hong shows up and it blows your fucking mind, so dope
Well, you see, I'm not saying that I've been everywhere and I done everything, but I do know it's a pretty amazing planet we live on here, and a man would have to be some kind of fool to think remaking this film is a good idea.
lol, I rewatched it yesterday and big trouble is NOT perfect. I love it entirely but it's a very choppy movie. Honestly, the worst part of the film is how poorly worked in Gracie Law is. Her introduction scene was sloppy and her lines reminded me of the comically bad lines that sigourney weaver's character in Galaxy Quest had in the tv show, except here it wasn't intentional. As for the remake, yah I dunno how to feel about that. I love the Rock but he's not the first person I'd pick to replace Kurt Russel. It will ensure that it does well as a movie though so maybe it'll be worth it.
I actually found this before the original oppa gangnam style and did not know that this was a parody of it until later. And this is the best tribute to Lo Pan ever. :)
"INDEED"!!
The fact that James Hong actually appeared in this video, makes it so completely epic.
INDEED!! is right. Having James Hong in the video was very epic.
@@bengoodheart3705 I did a "double take".. had to think, "Hey, was that who I think it was?"
I was just thinking shame James Hong isn't in this. Then the elevator opens. Nice!

Ten years later, still a total Six-Demon Bag of a song.
I love how James Hong is credited as Lo Pan. That's the icing on the cake.
It should be the real James Hong, unless your referring to the person impersonating the younger, dancing version.
I *love* this movie. In the early 1990s, my friend Bob Sawdey was in Amsterdam. He stepped onto a hotel elevator and recognized James Hong. Hong seems to be one of those *awesome* actors who loves milking his cheesy roles. Him and Adam West, man..
@@kalaong as old as Mr Hong is I think he can afford to embrace the cheese. He seems to genuinely enjoy what he does. We should all be so lucky
I showed this to my boss, Mr Burton. He didn’t get it. I told him. “You are not here to GET IT Mr. Burton!”
This deserves more likes, I spit out my drink
.. B.
That was good......it wouldn't work on my boss unfortunately
One of my favorite lines from the film, I use it too for anyone:
“You were not brought upon this world to ‘get it!’l
Yes!
This is the greatest and most underrated video in the history of the internet.

Ha! They actually got everything from the movie right. Including the actual Lo Pan and his gamepad magic 💯💖
I'm just over-awed by the fact James Hong is actually in this.
The fact you actually got James Hong to appear in this just adds the cherry on top of this cake of awesomeness!
The was boss. Mr. Hong is the man! Without him, it probably just be another shot of an elevator and it only goes down but, hey, I guess that's alright. Shame you couldn't shoot the video in Lo Pan's office, its cooler up there.

@@minecraftfan5245 You were not put upon this planet to 'get it', Mister Zorgo...
And the fact that in the credits he's listed as "Man in the Elevator - Lo Pan" is pure perfection!
The James Hong bit puts it over the top into the realm of GOAT

Contains more surprises than a six demon bag.
This never gets old.
Indeed
The cool thing here is that most fans recognized Hong right away and knew his name
Damn right, the man is a legend
MY favorite role of his is actually COvetous Shen form Diablo 3.. so much detailed character in it...
I love that Jack Burton and Amos Burton are now forever connected
2:07 - James Hong cameo. Love it.

INDEED! That was perfect. 🔥😎
The jack burton segment at 1:48 is so on point. So much love for this movie and this video. 👍🏼

So just found out about this from the Ty and that guy podcast. Wes Chatem plays Jack Burton.

oh my God,
David Lo Pan himself just kicked down the 4th wall

This is AWESOME - any child of the 80's has to have great love & respect for this...BIG TROUBLE ruled!
James Hong FTW!
Really cool that James Hong is in this parody-song ;-)
Fact: James Hong was Lopan in Big Trouble in Little China
I really hope John Carpenter has seen this.
As I am given to understand, not only has he seen it, he introduced it at a comicon a few years back

Now this is legit, Lo Pan Style!
We may as well shut down the internet now. There will never be something as awesome as this.
