I am a 32 year old black South African woman. Back when I was still a little girl I found a Don Williams CD in my grandfather's car, this particular song was the one i used to play morethan any other song on that CD. Every weekend we used to go on family trips to visit our relatives who lived in different towns. Whenever we were supposed to go on a trip, I would make sure that the CD doesn't get left behind because it would be all we listen to, to and from our destination😅. I would play it so much that it started getting on my mother's nerves😂. Here I am today listening to this master piece with tears in my eyes, re-living the memories all alone because everyone is gone, my whole family is gone and memories are all I have left.

My unemployment just ran out and my wife and I are weeks away from eviction. I have exhausted all monetary loans from friends and family and had to start a go fund me page to try to beg for someone to help us. I remember I was going through a heavy Country phase as a pre-teen when this song came out, and it was one that I took the time to memorize. It's more than 40 years later now and verses from this song will pop into my head like wisdom from the past at odd moments in my life. I took the time to look it up today and was able to listen to it in full for the first time in at least 30 years - the cassette tape that I'd recorded it onto from off the radio broke long ago and I'd forgotten it was Don Williams that sang it. I've been sitting here in tears. Marriage, the birth of a child, divorce, the sudden death of my parents, marriage, the birth of another child, 16 years of time passing... I believe in you too Don. I remember this song playing on the radio all the time. We always had that radio on in our big barn on the ranch where we grew up in Southeast Texas. Our cows would always come in the back pen and lay down chewing their cud while country music played softly in the barn. They seemed to love it! I did too, and have such good memories of a great childhood in Santa Fe, Texas!

My Daddy was his band back in the 70's when he played at the Jungle Inn in Weslaco, Texas, I fell in Love with his music, will never stop listening, Dec 19, 2019 UPDATE, Daddy and I are still enjoying Don's music, sure has helped, during this pandemic, Daddy is 89, has been on lockdown since March 1st. Oct 18, 2020, Here we are April 1st, 2021. All is well, here on the farm., Still listening... Update 2/14/2022 Daddy is 90, still here, depending on me a lot, wheelchair bound, but a blessing, still listening, Happy Valentines Day, Loves~~~~

I remember I was going through a heavy Country phase as a pre-teen when this song came out, and it was one that I took the time to memorize. It's more than 40 years later now and verses from this song will pop into my head like wisdom from the past at odd moments in my life. I took the time to look it up today and was able to listen to it in full for the first time in at least 30 years - the cassette tape that I'd recorded it onto from off the radio broke long ago and I'd forgotten it was Don Williams that sang it.

I remember this song playing on the radio all the time. We always had that radio on in our big barn on the ranch where we grew up in Southeast Texas. Our cows would always come in the back pen and lay down chewing their cud while country music played softly in the barn. They seemed to love it! I did too, and have such good memories of a great childhood in Santa Fe, Texas!
