Automatons are great for defense because of their repair ability. You destroy the enemy army, have automatons rebuild each other, and you suffer little to no losses. Plus you can go over your pop limit by deleting automatons and having them rebuild each other after you hit max pop.
Nereids excel at killing water myth units, I think their special move is more noticeable in the Egyptian leviathan for example, dealing a ton of damage, I suppose that the shark bite animation is their special move in ships
IMO the heka gigantes have the coolest abilities in the game, while the Behemoth is one of the most boring myth units, basically a reskined Scarab that doesn't even explode on death.
Mention that the actual damage made by heka gigantes is x2. Same with the fire giant. The damage they do is huge especially vs buildings. If you look very closely you can see the HP bar of the enemy drops 2x very promptly. And no it is not damage per second, fire giant and heka giantes is a special case :) - The damage shown should be 2x to make sense...
Umm, isn't Lampades explodes upon death too? I remember it as a rather nasty unit, or I'm mistaken?

Wait, the Heka Gigantes ground pound actually indents the terrain along the path? I never noticed that before.
I think there's a limit to that based on the terrain level; i.e. if the terrain at it's "lowest point" there could be no dent made.

I think the stymphalian bird's special ability is to attack other air units.
Phenix and Nidhogg also can attack air units. But range is small.
