Jeff Hanneman was my inspiration and idol for playing guitar i greatly miss him. Nobody will ever match his intense power and fury on the guitar. RIP Jeff Hanneman
Larry Stanford Nobody can deny, bro. Actually, I enjoy both of them. Musty is the Master of Melody and Jeff is the Lord of Music Agression! Shit, I was so upset when Hanneman died. He was my favourite musician. Slayer visitad Russia this summer, but whithout Jeff... it kinda doesn`t make any sence. They are still great artists? but spirit is gone. HAIL SLAYER! HAIL HANNEMAN! HE MADE US FOLLOW!

9:01 Lombardo literally looking like animal of the Muppets behind the kit.... he was insane back then. They were only what, 5 songs into their set and he kept that intense energy up throughout the entire performance. As a drummer myself you learn to play certain ways to reserve your energy so you don't get burnt out midway through your set.. but Dave could keep his energy going and play every song double bass and all with the same intensity. One of my favorite drummers. He was amazing back then and still is today an awesome drummer. It may sound cliche but when you first start out learning your craft and you hear a style of drumming for the first time it was literally a holy shit I did not know you can do that type of stuff behind the kit. I had like the same epiphany when I first heard blast beats too lol.
last time I saw slayer in divine's tour, kinda feel sorry for the new kids who see them in mid 2000 n up, they never see the singing & the extreme headbanging of araya during 80s to 90s
Would loved to have been at this gig. Slayer would have been the utmost extreme band back in the day. I remember a lot of my fellow metalheads didnt like Slayer, found them too OTT. Thats how hardcore they were!
What I don't understand is how the guys (especially Lombardo) have all that energy to go through these fast and blazing songs one after another in a 1-hour set. Simply the greatest Slayer show for me. They practically play the whole of Reign in Blood in this concert...
Thanks for the upload, I got into them in 1988 (year 7 years late I know!), but didn't see them live until Donington '92, as US Metal bands didn't tour the UK so much. They were superb, wish someone had the WHOLE '92 concert, as I remember them being onstage for at least half an hour - 35 minutes. It's funny reading comments from young metal heads, but Slayer then, were just one of many Thrash bands. We were spoilt for choice good days
Please, please remaster and release on DVD!!! THIS is the Slayer that I know and why I will forever be a fan. My first time seeing them was on this tour, and then 12 more times since. Epic footage!!

Thank you so much for posting this! This was my first show ever! Was so good back then! Also I think a few weeks before Slayer had come out during a Possessed Show and did Angel of Death sort of a peek at what was coming! Thanks again, it will never be this good again!
yeah my metal brother.. when i was young i used to go see slayer at L'amours in brookyn new york.. i spent my whoe youth there.. i saw so many live bands theere amazing times....miss those days
I saw slayer live in 85 a year before this show and on reign in blood tour in 86 we were insane back then we was right up front on haunting north America tour in 85 in a little club in Baltimore md called the seagull inn with only about 100 people there
hey man your not a burden I love talking about the old days I also saw slayer in 85 in a club in balto md with about 100 people I was right up front that whole show and at one point tom looked down at me and let out a scream and i grabbed him by the back of the head and did the same it was fucking awesome but again i don't know about the speaker thing I don't think they had expensive subwoofers like they do now a days but the double bass definitely pounded your heart
That's fucking awesome man! I'm only 16 so I was never alive for those legendary days like you were. That's so cool you saw Megadeth in 85(I'm a huge megadeth fanboy). Metallica on kill em all tour is insane, people would give everything to have seen that. That sucks you missed Exodus, I heard they were more intense than even Slayer live.
hey thundertrain you got me started now I also saw ac/dc in 77 with bon scott maiden =in 81 on killer tour with priest van halen 82 metallica/raven 83 kill em all for one tour six weeks before kill em all came out mercyful fate don't break the oath tour twice in one week once with exciter and the second night with motorhead and exciter megadeth in 85 killin for a livin tour I got dave mustaines guitar strap at that gig I missed exodus that year but my friend jeff went down saw em
i remember they had 2 close the Troc-philly's premiere club 4 music) bc Slayers fans actually ripped the place apart.it was closed down 4 a year or so...
fuckin slayer im 28 from nc and slayer are my favorite thrash band!! metallica anthrax megadeth would not exist,if the slayer sound wasnt perfected till 84
hey man metallica was cool there were only about 30 people there they played before raven and check this out it was 3 dollars cover charge to get in the club that night I was 17 and my friend did some talking at the door and got me in
@dahydros funny shit is, I can see my underage self stage diving at this show. I was 17. Just remember Cromags went on first and I went home and shaved my head
and passed out on pauls shoulder lol but lately ive been listening to drunkard like sin explode that sound like old slayer meets the haunted insane from Italy who sound like old slayer big time power metal band from Germany called stormwarrior another band called thousand year war it just goes on and on yeah I don't do much headbanging anymore cause my neck and back is all fucked up from the past but I still jam a lot well take care bro
and see why that guy from Lamb of god is in jail? On every punk/metal/hc gig in last 30 years you have people pushing someone from stage...... It happens now that guy was climbing on stage (knew what he is doing) and was pushed back to the crowd like dozens of others on same gig, died few days later....and now we have that LoG guy in jail?
So they were all mid range speakers? No low end speakers? Sorry for being a burden and thanks for replying, I'm really interested in live sound systems! Did the bass drum do the chest kick thing? Thankyou!
probably t.j, but i'm not sure. i'm not sure what the date is of this concert, find that out and it's simple. dave quit almost exactly one month into the tour, start date-concert date-drummer.
Random question but back then did they have those subwoofers that cause bass chest thump? I have been wondering for a long time if they had those at the old thrash shows.
ladies and gentlemen, Dave Lombardo!
Jeff Hanneman was my inspiration and idol for playing guitar i greatly miss him. Nobody will ever match his intense power and fury on the guitar. RIP Jeff Hanneman
Best guitarist since Glenn Tipton
But... what about Red Hair Bastard... I mean Dave Mustaine?
He is a great guitarist also but their syles are completely different

Would've loved to be their. Bet half the crowd knew that Slayer will be the biggest thrash band of all time.
last time I saw slayer in divine's tour, kinda feel sorry for the new kids who see them in mid 2000 n up, they never see the singing & the extreme headbanging of araya during 80s to 90s

What a show! Killer that you can actually hear Tom's bass in this one. 🔥🤘
holy shit
these screams of Araya bring chills down my spine
Goddammit... when did so much time pass? the 'New Slayer Record' ... Reign in Blood...
No shit! December 6, 1986 was the day before I turned 16
thrash metal the way it should be...240p

RIP Jeff. I'd forgotten just how great Slayer were until I went back and listened to their back catalogue today.
Vocal rules!
This was shot really well. Love this!!!! RIP Hanneman
Hell Awaits sounds absolutely amazing.
Good old days! Between the Ritz and Sundance on long island there was a good show every week!!
HA! I'm 99% sure I was there for this. The Ritz was like a sweatbox back then.
OK thanks man. I appreciate it. That Tom story was pretty awesome!!!
Toms intro to necrophiliac has always ruled. Great show. Didn't get to see them until clash of the titans 1990. Best live band no question
yeah I saw slayer on reign in blood tour overkill opened for them I couldn't move my head for a week afterwards
I saw them open for Judas Priest 2 years later and their live sound was much more polished and clean. Amazing show. Best Metal band ever.
WTF Raining Blood and Angel of Death in the beginning?!? That's unheard of now!
Saw them in NJ this tour. Unforgettable.
Criminally Insane is the FUCKING SHIT.
the way they went from Praise of Death straight into Criminally Insane was ridiculous. 2 of my favorite songs combined
I saw slayer live in 85 a year before this show and on reign in blood tour in 86 we were insane back then we was right up front on haunting north America tour in 85 in a little club in Baltimore md called the seagull inn with only about 100 people there

Slayer at their best here.
RIP Jeff. Thank you for sharing your gift with us.
