Only Fairouz and rahbani magic can make a bus ride without paying from one village to next to see your sweet heart so memorable. Along with its peculiar riders and had to help the bus driver open the door , mind the passenger and sometimes calm the driver too as the bus putts along to Tannourin village to see Alia with the beautiful dark eyes

The last part about the air is a play on words. The word hawa literally means “air” but it can also mean “love.” Fairuz is asking the driver to close the window because he’s letting in air (love). She then says that the “hawa” (air/love) will make everyone sick. That’s why she wants the window shut.
And also kan byitrikha I think is conditional- she’s saying that if the husband saw Alia’s eyes, he’d let his wife go on her own to tenooreen (the implication being that the husband would also go to Tenooreen on his own, to see Alia without the presence of his wife). Yikhrib bayt ayunik I think is also better translated “God damn your eyes” (it literally means may god ruin the house of your eyes)
Fairouz is amazing! This is my 3rd favorite song of hers. It reminds me very much of the special person who recommended Fairouz to me. This song reminds us all that we have been on journeys and faced obstacles (fall of Niko, summer of soence) but yet we keep striving on our quest. I wish every fan of Fairouz good health, happiness, joy and success on your quest! ❤#Shazam

i wish the world was this nice and easier. Im from Türkiye, a country struggling because of middle eastern immigrants. My heart aches because of the bad people coming to my country. But on the other hand I have beautiful friends from Arabian countries. I love them and I understand them. I wish people were not so different and they could leave space to love each other. But especially men don’t let you. I will pray for the day that everyone is happy in their country with their families, and free Palestine, free Lebanon. Love from Turkey ❤

I found this translation sometime ago and put it on my computer. Can't remember where I found it. As usual, a lot is lost in the translation, but here it is for those who asked for translation. From Paris here. I just discovered Fairouz for the first time today (through a radio show on France Culture, a French public service radio station). What a groove! Question: Could someone in the know could tell me from when this song is? As of 2024, it songs as it could be if recorder yesterday! Question: Would you know on which of her album I could find this song? (out of "The Legend: Best of Fairuz") I'm going to rush to my local library to discover some more. Wow. Just WOW!

Kaptan…
Kapıyı kapatır mısın?
Çok rüzgar esiyor kaptan
Hasta olacağız kaptan

The bus song
Lyrics & Music: Ziad Rahbani
By the roar of the bus we traveled / from the village of Himlaya to the village of Tannurin / and I remembered you, Allia / and remembered your eyes / and God forgive you, Allia / what beautiful eyes you have.
On our way to the mountains from the heat we almost died / some ate lettuce others munched on figs / one had his wife with him, and God / how ugly his wife was / lucky are the passengers on their way / to Tannurin / they take everything in stride / but they don't know, Allia / what beautiful eyes you have.
Way up we went and we hadn't even paid / sometimes we calmed down the rattling door / sometimes we calmed the passengers / the guy found out his wife was getting dizzy / I wouldn't put it past him / to let her go up alone / and if he could only see your eyes, Allia / how beautiful they are, your eyes / Driver if you'd just close that window / the air, O driver / the air will make us catch cold / the air O driver.
The most beautifull voice ever !
