The Lightning is available NOW…. There’s the difference!! Bought my $80K lightning lariat for $56K with 4,300 miles on it and we totally love it as a daily driver. I have an F-150 lightning Pro with a standard range battery. It's a pretty awesome truck but you need to have a second vehicle because the range isn't that great. If you are an ideal owner like me, you can get one with the $7,500 rebate included for in the low 40ks.
A foldable tonneau cover with integrated solar panels would help with range. It should be possible for a company to produce a solar tonneau cover that is between 500-750 watts of power output which could charge on the go and when parked. Of course available sunlight would have an impact but any power output would be beneficial.

I think Lucid embarrassed GM calling their massive 230kW battery vehicles "low tech". Lol. If Lucid can manage 400+ miles with 120kW battery, and GM also hits the 400 mile mark with 2x the battery, then I tend to agree with lucid. Something isn't adding up. I don't think we should exceed 150kW battery packs on ANY vehicle that isn't a commercial bus or semi.
They should make a high-performance version of the Lightning as a tribute to the Lightning that was in production ~20 years ago. Like call it the “…Lightning Superfast” or “…Lightning Blackout”
give me the Silverado, but since my wife makes the truck calls I guess it's the Lightning because she's a Ford girl and we can get one for half the cost of the Chevy. On another note, seems to me this newer idea of having videos that aren't first person vehicle reviews hasn't caught on yet. I'm not real keen on it yet but I do see the value. I'm a huge fan of KBB anyways so I have an open mind.
Ford designed their EV truck to look like their ICE F-150. Chevy designed their EV truck to look like an Avalanche but called it a Silverado EV. They should have made it look like an ICE Silverado. I was never a fan of the Avalanche design. My Lightning is awesome.
Ford has already gotten the sales from who was deciding on one. Chevrolet is problem ridden and so was some software on the F150. I just don’t think many people will buy into the gimmick. Sorry Chevy.
EV's would make more sense if they came with some type of backup gas tank. But im supposed to trust that i can keep my car charged when i can barely keep my phone or laptop charged?
Exactly the reason I went with the Lightning. Body on fully boxed steel frame as opposed to Unibody on the Chevy. You also have the more for less going in the wrong direction. I got a platinum (lightning's highest trim) for less than what Chevy wanted for their plasticy work truck. The only thing that was swaying me towards the Chevy was the longer range and faster charging. But then I realized that I have no use for those. I don't do any long distance driving, If I did, I wouldn't get an EV truck. I always plug in at home and Ford even threw in a free 100Amp charger. Add in the fact that the Chevy didn't even have car play and they wanted me to pay a subscription for their basic services (Ford doesn't) and the decision was easy.
If GM offered me even trade EV Silverado for my 5.3l Silverado I wouldn't take not for what I use it for plus I will need to install a charger in my home which is not in my budget.
With our current shitty economy as it is. Good luck selling those 100k. Especially when gas is 2.89 per gallon in my state. Also electric trucks have proven to be a joke at most. To be honest only the granola eating bush hippies with money( EPA higher-ups) will be able to buy those types of vehicles. The rest of us will have to purchase gasoline powered pick-ups to do our jobs.😂😂
bro i think the current snow storm thats freezing over 80 percent of the USA shows that a ev truck doesn't make any sense. most ppl who buy trucks, buy them to do work. many of which are in the country. u see news articles of tesla owners having their battery drain dead in the snow. cant charge due to the network feezing over. like when ur vehicle fails cuz its too cold for too long. thats a issue.

Poor Chevy. They could have done so well with this truck but put them out of reach for 95% of people.
