  • Learn Arabic with Madrasatuna!
    This Free online Arabic programme is based on the comprehensive and popular course (ARABIC COURSE for English-speaking students), originally devised and taught at Madinah Islamic University.
    The course consists of three reasonably short but extensive books. In these series of videos we will go through the final book in the series (book 3).
    As Muslims, I'm sure we're all familiar that studying Arabic is very important, but here are some additional (materialistic) reasons why a person would study Arabic:
    Arabic is the 5th most commonly spoken native language in the world!
    There is a high demand and low supply of Arabic-speakers in the Western world!
    Arabic-speaking nations are a fast-growing market for trade, and various government organisations around the world consider Arabic to be of ‘critical importance’!
    Arabic-speaking people have made significant contributions to the world civilizations!
    The Arab-speaking world has a rich cultural heritage!

    السلام عليكم ورحمة الله وبركاته.
    Many of the Hanafi brothers at the nearby masjid claim that wearing an imamah is Sunnah.
    However I have read that it is rather a sunnah of tradition and customs and not a sunnah for which, one will be rewarded, like the one who grows his hair to the shoulders. meaning, if the people wear it as part of their everyday attire or it is a part of their customs then one should wear it, like the brothers in Sudan. If not then one should refrain lest he be amongst those who seek fame through clothing.
    Is this correct.
    جزاك الله خيرا.

      وعليكم السلام ورحمة الله وبركاته
      Our scholars have differed in this regard; some have say it is Sunnah, while others say it is a customary act. Either way, a person is rewarded for imitating the Prophet ﷺ in customary matters if it's done from the angle of التأسي (following his example ﷺ)
      {لقد كان لكم في رسول الله أسوة حسنة}
