      @@triggerpod Yeah, the quality of production and discussion is well above that you'd expect from an 11k channel. Can't help but feel it's only a matter of time before it grows exponentially.

      Criticism of Israel is NOT antisemitism.
      The story and history of Israel and Palestine is very complex and won't be sorted by people who don't understand the issues of both peoples.

      Newspeak (I.e. opposite use of the word liberal again).

    If young children are looking at different races on TV and think, they don't look like me therefore I can't relate to them and I don't see that as a potential career path then we should help those kids. They are engaging in racial thinking. The solution isn't too encourage that type of thinking, it's to show them that we shouldn't distance ourselves from others based on race, and those who do are racist

  • @Saddamuel
    @Saddamuel 5 лет назад +29

    Certain confusing matters can become a lot clearer if you disabuse yourself of the notion that racism against white people and sexism against men does not and can not exist. It isn't a mistake or misunderstanding any more than other forms of bigotry. The worrying difference is that this nu-bigotry is mostly a modern phenomenon and it is growing. Even worse, there is a narrative that sexism against women and racism against non whites is on the rise when if anything the complete opposite is true. There is as yet no reason to believe the trajectory will change.

    • @Saddamuel
      @Saddamuel 5 лет назад +1

      But thank you for being part of trying to change this trajectory!

      I can only speak from my own experience, racism has always been present amongst most men to varying degrees in south Yorkshire where I live . It had decreased in the last thirty years since I moved here. But there has been a definite increase in the last few years.

    34:00 Free movement of labour does for wages what the free movement of goods does for the price of goods. Except an excess of goods is easier to contend with than an excess of labour - and there's no legally determined limit to how little something can be sold for, but there is a legally determined limit to how little someone can be paid. With that lower limit set, the market response to a surplus in the labour market is to put pressure on the worker to work harder and seek loopholes that limit their exposure to the minimum wage so that workers only work when it is most productive (eg. zero hour contracts). Or find some means to make it so that the workers are effectively "self-empoyled." These kind of tricks.

    His point about role models falls down at the first step. If whinem can only succeed if they see role models; then how did men invent anything? Who were the role models for the white, middle class men who developed the BBC? Who was the role model for the Montgolfier brothers when they invented the balloon? Who was Magellan's role model when he set off to sail around the world? Who was Gargarin's role model when he went into space?

    I love when pressed on who is an anti-Semite no names were forthcoming. so often people of Ben's ilk are super fuzzy when it comes to the boring facts to verify their claims. The other notable thing is their lack of historical data by carefully choosing very recent events rather than studying the journey. It is interesting that the climate deniers who are often in the same fan base as Ben's followers choose the exact opposite tact when disparaging an adverse effect man has on climate.

    Her he goes unchallenged in calling Jeremy Corbyn an anti-semite. I have never heard anyone tell me of a single statement or action by Corbyn against Jews. He is anti-racist to the core, whatever you think of his politics or style. Anti-Israel is not anti-Jews. Israel is an ethno-state.

    Maybe someone went to the meeting just to see what it was about - so guilt by association means nothing... maybe they went to gain information to order their oppositional thoughts... IN any case - who are you to tell me what meeting I can and cannot go to? And what gives you the right to know my mind as to why I am at any meeting.

    Corbyn wasn't calling Hamas his friends or embracing their doctrine. He was using 'inclusive bridge building language' to help build the right context work on issues. It might be a bit of a hippy way of peace building, but it was in the context of a professional strategy, not a reflection of his personal feelings.

    I like this show, the hosts are great and the debate is fantastic. But I wish they would change the background decor. The darkness has the opposite effect of being neutral, it is actually very distracting. Try something like on the Joe Rogan Podcast, some kind of brickwork or interesting texture.

    Of all the hundreds of political/social commentary videos I've watched over the years, I can count on one hand the number of speakers that actually admitted to being right leaning. Almost without fail everyone starts the conversation with "I'm a traditional lefty...I'm coming from the left...". It's become a disclaimer, an invisible barrier so people know that they're coming from a place of virtue and personally I find it disingenuous and unnecessary
