I attempted Keto over 2 years and never got it right. Mentally I was not ready or just couldn't get the full concept. Bottom line I wasnt in Ketosis. I restarted successful 3 weeks ago a d I lost 14lbs already and losing about a lb every 3 to 3 days now. So glad I didnt give up. Thanks for the motivation and the clear explanation
Keto changed my life, and Dr. Boz explains it well. I had anxiety attacks for 20 years that are almost totally gone. Plus I gained 9 lbs of muscle. I sometimes call this the ‘avocado a day diet’. But these days I eat mostly tallow, which is from beef.
I love Dr Bozworth's videos! I have learned so much from the info that she puts out. I wish that more Doctors would get with the program and at minimum take the time to look into the studies that have been done about ketones and ketosis, and stop misinforming patients particularly when it comes to diet and health. In one sense, I was lucky because I ditched processed sugar years ago. But I had no idea about how bad carbs were. I was eating 'better' quality carbs - such as low g.I. bread and pasta, but I still couldn't lose weight. I started by trying to heal a fatty liver and the weight started falling. Currently I've lost 42 pounds and I've sorta fallen into Keto. I'm loving it!

One problem for starters is a fake feeling of hunger, especially during stressful times, when you might think you're hungry so a bit of structure. helped me initially like an intermittent fasting . Also, I carried a salad or something small when invited to social events in case there was nothing I could eat.
I'm interested in the anti inflammatory aspects and preventing degenerative diseases Just soaking in knowledge on day 1... I love real science and this lovely doctor is a joy.
Careful now, good keto takes a lot of time learning searching and sometime preparing dishes, also can cost a lot of money if you go crazy buying new product/healthy food. And it does takes good effort and discipline. But don't give up it is so worthed.

Reducing the extra weight that actually is a burden that the body structure is not made to carry causing problems on joints, belly fat causing serious diseases such as dementia, cancer, etc. The ratio of energy to weight is an important reason to add more life. Clinical experiment show that decreasing your weight by one third with withe a healthy lifestyle (exercise, balanced nutrition, adequate sleep, etc.) can increase life span also by one third! In better health one can then continue their loved hobbies and interests and personal growth.

I started watching you a long time ago and then bought your book, "Any Way You Can" and learned so very much. You wrapped up The whole Keto way in just that book alone. I then ordered your kit with the shopping book and Icebox magnet. That helped out again. Next I bought your Continuum book and am still studying it and it seems a little hard to grasp being a little complexed. I found the hardest thing you said to do and it was to delete all the food necessary to junk, but, I managed some how to do it, but with gritted teeth. I'll keep watching and learning from you always. Oh yes I bought test strips and a glucose monitor kit. I could have saved lots of money if I had bought the Kit and strips instead of all the unnecessary junk food.
I started watching Dr Boz a couple weeks or so and have enjoyed them. I don’t stay in ketos or if I do it is low. I had to increase my carbs and my electrolytes a bit. I was getting dizzy. I also bought a multi-vitamins to help. With that part stable I am not rushing back to I have some disease. I think many women do that as well.
I really need to change my diet for good! I’m tired of being sick and fat! Is very hard to do keto and clean your house when you have a husband and kids who eat carbs... Exemplo: I love bread and every time I’m on diet and avoiding it my husband brings home a bread or something I use to love. It seems He is trying to make me off the diet all together. So hard. Try chaffles still can use like bread. If you stay on long enough 6 weeks at least you don’t crave carbs any more it what makes you full fat and protein!! I have lost 100 and still going! Keto for life

Hi Dr Boz my favorite new line is if you're not hungry zip it. It helped me do a 15 hour fast and a 11 hour fast between last night and now. Thank you for another great video. JP
Fasted for approx 40hrs then went into keto diet...ketosis following day so i'll stick with it now..one full meal in the evening..no brekky ...no lunch although if I'm hungry I have a piece of cheese ...I found full fat cheese worked really well to combat sugar cravings. I did carnivore for four months. I dropped 20 pounds and my A1C dropped to 5.9 from 7.8. My doctor convinced me that a vegan diet would be best for my high cholesterol and he put me on Repatha, which knocked my cholesterol significantly ( maybe too much) and I regained the weight and my A1c went back up. It should be noted that before Repatha my cholesterol was really high but my heart scans were clear. I'm back on carnivore and my Glucose levels average is 80, so my A1c is dropping. I'm losing weight and I'm not hungry. some skin issues have disappeared and my mood has improved. I also feel more alert and don't fatigue as easily. I'm not technically on a high fat diet, but I think i'm going to start measuring ketones and try to increase my fat intake.

Westman, Phinney, and several others in that camp adopted this way of eating after seeing their patient’s health improve or after being brave to embrace and do further studies with what Atkins discovered from someone before him! It hasn’t been viewed as sensible to eat this way among coworkers and some family, but I’m not living for sensibility, but for sanity. We have been conditioned to accept HBP, diabetes, gut issues, and mental disorders (to name a few) as illnesses that we can never be free of. To the extent of damage we’ve that has some truth to it . However, mY mother became my second n=1 subject. She turned 90 last year and has reversed her declining heart health since eating this way for the last 10 years. I was on the course to developing T2D after my then doctor told me to lower my carbohydrates. She never said to increase fat. By God’s wisdom that’s when my research led me to the ones I mentioned earlier. It’s a struggle at times for me because like some here have said, I have family members who don’t desire to eat this way, so I can’t clear out the cupboard...maybe in time. But until then I let the way I feel and my bloodwork speak for itself. Best of health to you all!

I like the smart phone app ( also runs on computer ) called Carb Manager to track daily carbs. You enter foods & amounts eaten - it tells you how many carbs you've eaten.
Removed all carbs from cupboards, removed root veg, pasta, porridge, quinoa, couscous, binned anything processed. Now bought my first ct oil, keytone testing machine. I'm still a bit concerned because I had a stroke a couple of Christmases ago and no longer ever experience hunger. So I tended to just graze all the time. These last ten days, no grazing just eating 3 meals - high fat, high protein (lean) no carbs apart from green (mainly) veg yet no cravings! I'm not able to eat a stick of butter, just the thought makes me shudder and gag. But I'll keep trying. :)
Thanks a lot for this video. One point where I differ and function differently.Is cleaning the cupboard. I tried many times to give up smoking, hiding lighters and ashtrays unsuccessfully. But I did successfully quit smoking when I had all my ashtrays, lighters and a whole ten pack cigarette cartoon in my cupboard.🤣😂😉.I haven't smoked a single cigarette, don't have cravings.I don't mind if others smoke around me.
This can be done as a vegetarian, as I am doing it. I add in a fish meal maybe one/week....lots of avocado, nuts, seeds, olives, coconut oil, sugar free Greek yogurt, cheese, eggs, avocado and coconut milks, lots of veggies...........plenty to choose from.........
So glad to see your videos, I watch all Dr.Ken Berry and all the Low Carb Down Under vidoes and need a new face. I like the total carb instead of net carb recommendation. I live with a sugar addict who will not change so there's no way I can clean the shelves,,, yes it's very rough with all the carbs around. Have to add that after doing keto since Jan1,2018 I had never did the mega butter thing but on a urge yesterday I did 4 0z /1/2 stick with my breakfast and now I can understand how people can eat OMAD and I am going for the 24 hr feed at 10 today. I also suffer greatly from muscle fasciculations, aka muscular twitches for a very, very long time. I'd like to ask you how many grams of fat do you recommend a person mu height 6' 1", roughly 175 lbs consume per day? I know you mention 80% of the diet is fat. How many grams would that be? And how many grams of protein would a person of my build eat? Do you base that off a specific daily caloric intake? I am type 2 diabetis and according to the diabetic experts NOT to skip a meal - even though I am not hungry - and to take 15 grams of carbs every meal. I would really like to hear your advice on this, please. I really want to start with Keto as I am desperate to loose 25 kgs.
Dr Boz, What advice do you have for those who can't eat dairy but want to eat Keto? To clarify, I don't have an allergy per se, but dairy causes extreme congestion and I almost always pick up a cold virus or something within 48 hours of eating dairy. I can do small amounts of 24 hour fermented yogurt, but butter, cream and other dairy,even Kefír all cause this issue. Is it possible to do Keto without dairy?

Hello Dr Boz, for myself I started doing the keto recipe's on RUclips, two weeks ago and iv lost ten pounds.yes I cheat a little very little, but I still make myself a little keto pancake and solves it.
MCT oil gave me major palpitations/PVCs. I ended up in the ER. It was not the lack of electrolytes because I had an electrolyte drink that I purchased from dr. Berg. So a week later I try the MCT oil again and the same thing happened. I can't even eat fat bombs with coconut oil but I can use coconut oil when I'm cooking in small amounts
I have PCOs and have been keto for over a month with great results. I've read about how it may be beneficial for hormone production to have a day where you eat carbs. I was thinking of timing this with my menstruation cycle. Maybe eating them in the final week of my cycle. I'm wondering if you have any opinions about doing a carb-up day once a month?

It's a little harder when you have a spouse who can't or won't go on the same diet. Which is understandable. I just made a point of what I will eat and what I won't. That's my tip.
I think I'm very blessed because my husband will eat anything I serve him. He finds everything good. On the side, he eats huge amounts of Reese's Pieces and Glossettes but never gains weight!!! I'm so jealous. Nicole
When I went on the keto diet my husband said he would eat whatever I fixed. The problem was, he was slim and didn't need to lose any weight and I wanted to lose 40 lbs.. He lost almost 50 lbs. In less than a month and I only lost 20. I was so jealous, he was afraid something terrible was happening in his body. Anyway, we eat separate meals now. The moral of this is, If you don't need to lose weight, stay away from this diet, lol.
Ruh Roh! This is gonna be a tough one to crack! I do very well at cooking with whole ingredients, but I am a sucker for pasta, and wines. Roux based sauces are on the menu two, three times a week! Old fashioned oats, shredded wheat, Cheerios. are all staples, no, cornerstones in my diet!!! Wish me luck!!
It's funny how you/she said empty your cupboards, I was looking at all the food that I have and realized it was all bread and breaded meats and junk, thankfully I don't really have a sweet tooth anymore so none of that but I realized I need to throw out everything and start over, and now by coincidence, I'm watching this!
@@66gtb i lasted until the end of the sentence.... i do better though, i need 2 tsp sugar in my coffee, i dont eat gluten and i only have 2oz of starch like rice or potato with each meal, i added more fat...pumpkin seeds, chia, hemp and avadoko's...i feel pretty good. I go to sprouts and get these gluten free flax muffins but you have to watch the sugar in those.

There is a reason for this. She is a medical doctor. There are so many professions allied to medicine that pretend to be doctors and see undifferentiated patients, that it is important to make the distinction. Becoming a medical doctor is uniquely gruelling and takes years of intensive study. Doctors are started on the scientific basics of anatomy, physiology, biochemistry, embryology and genetics , before they specialise in diseases. They are uniquely qualified to understand the human body. Always know people's background and qualifications if trusting them with your life.

Hello Dr.Boz, just want to ask if the "cholesterol" level will not shoot up with this keto diet? I really wanted to start with this diet, however I still felt skeptical because of the fear of getting my choleresterol level goes up, and in th e long run will get a high blood pressure- hypertension and clogging my heart with those cholesterol? I'm hearing that it is not good for the heart in a long term factor. Please give me a clearance on this. Thanks. More power.
We've demonized cholesterol based on very very shoddy nutrition evidence. We do need to revise our standards because there isn't a strong correlation between heart attacks and cholesterol. Worry more about your triglyceride levels and your HDL levels. That has a far stronger correlation than the cholesterol. (worry about small dense cholesterol - this means it's been oxidized. Think of it like rust on iron. Sugar is a "rusting agent" on cholesterol.) Think of it this way, if you are overweight/obese, isn't losing even 10 pounds beneficial for your body? Won't your joints thank you? Won't your heart thank you for not having to pump so hard to get the blood through your system? I'm not a medical professional or a nutrition expert. One of the things I made sure on my keto diet was to go very very low carb as in only vegetables. Our body wasn't designed for so many processed carbs. Our body wasn't even designed for modern fruit which is far larger, far sweeter, and far easier to obtain with little to no physical effort to "pay" for that sugar. Besides, I prefer veggies to fruit. Especially spinach and other cruciferous vegetables such as cauliflower. The research that I did was looking at Phinney and Vollick and just trying to understand the science behind this diet. Keto isn't a new diet. It's well over a hundred years. We prescribe this diet to children with epilepsy and even now, there are grown adults who are prescribed this diet. I also observed that the nutrition guidelines and recommendations for exercise haven't resulted in fewer cases of obesity. At some point, we need to stop blaming the victims who followed the guidelines and blame the guidelines as fundamentally flawed. We've been getting fatter for far longer than we've gotten the Happy Meal. We can't just blame it on Americans or fast food. (I look at female populations because, on average, women tend to be more health and body conscious. They've been eating more low fat yogurt and salad and they've all been increasing in size as the decades pass.)
Dear Dr Boz, I have always been trouble to digest any kind of fat. Even if I will choose this diet how can I survive? I feel queasiness after every meal what content fat, even after avocados. Could you please advise me? THank you so much in advance.
I am not doing this to lose weight. (I just hope I don;t gain some!!) I am trying to calm down my acid reflux. I have not ever been a sugar addict...so no problems dropping that even more. It was the carbs causing the trouble and my reflux has really settled down.
Most dairy, including butter, makes me extremely nauseated. A spoonful of MCT oil doesn’t make me nauseous, and gives me a full filling. PLUS...it puts me in ketosis within an hour!
I can have a coffee with butter and coconut oil in it (about a tbsp or two of each) for breakfast and not need anything until 3pm. Before keto I had to have three full meals a day or I would be weak!
How do you count the carbs. I know to check packages but I don’t eat anything from a package. I eat vegetables, meat, avocado, bacon and eggs. I know there are carbs in veggies but I just didn’t know how many carbs I get in a day.
But Dr. I am a vegan! I can’t have most of the things you say. Please suggest some thing for plant based people. Going keto makes total sense by the way! The only way I have been doing that is by water fasting.
I am 62, started keto 3.5 weeks ago, doing about 20 carb's per day. Not really losing weight yet. Maybe 5 lbs. total. Does the older body take this long to be able to be fat-burning? Maybe I am not eating enough fat?
Barbara B Don’t give up. My wife was better than I was in sticking to the plan and she took almost a month to lose about 5-7 lbs. However she and several others I have spoken to say the same thing “The weight is not coming off but my clothes are getting looser.” Keep the faith and know that for many it isn’t a sprint but a marathon. And you’re helping your health in ways that go beyond what the scale says. I wish I had more effective advice than that, but we’re still learning too. Just try not to be discouraged. Us “well aged” individuals don’t all drop the pounds at the same rate! 😉
It’s hard to clean out cupboards when there are others who eat what’s in the cupboards. I am going to clean out some but not all. Wish me luck I am working my way to keto.

I’m about 45 hours into a water fast. My response is different than usual, so I checked BP 118/65 little lower then normal but my blood sugar is 75 I think that’s ok but I planed on 4or 5 days. ✅

Keto + OMAD changed my life like nothing before. Annette Bosworth MD, Jason Fung MD, Robert Lustig MD and Thomas DeLauer opened my eyes.
Trying to get there starting with at least OMAD twice a week. I however do 14 hr intermittent fasting

Fasted for approx 40hrs then went into keto diet...ketosis following day so i'll stick with it now..one full meal in the evening..no brekky ...no lunch although if I'm hungry I have a piece of cheese ...I found full fat cheese worked really well to combat sugar cravings.

I did carnivore for four months. I dropped 20 pounds and my A1C dropped to 5.9 from 7.8. My doctor convinced me that a vegan diet would be best for my high cholesterol and he put me on Repatha, which knocked my cholesterol significantly ( maybe too much) and I regained the weight and my A1c went back up. It should be noted that before Repatha my cholesterol was really high but my heart scans were clear. I'm back on carnivore and my Glucose levels average is 80, so my A1c is dropping. I'm losing weight and I'm not hungry. some skin issues have disappeared and my mood has improved. I also feel more alert and don't fatigue as easily. I'm not technically on a high fat diet, but I think i'm going to start measuring ketones and try to increase my fat intake.
I just got my package of ketone test strips. I also got a glucose monitor and test strips. I'm excited to try fasting.

Drs. Westman, Phinney, and several others in that camp adopted this way of eating after seeing their patient’s health improve or after being brave to embrace and do further studies with what Atkins discovered from someone before him! It hasn’t been viewed as sensible to eat this way among coworkers and some family, but I’m not living for sensibility, but for sanity. We have been conditioned to accept HBP, diabetes, gut issues, and mental disorders (to name a few) as illnesses that we can never be free of. To the extent of damage we’ve that has some truth to it . However, mY mother became my second n=1 subject. She turned 90 last year and has reversed her declining heart health since eating this way for the last 10 years. I was on the course to developing T2D after my then doctor told me to lower my carbohydrates. She never said to increase fat. By God’s wisdom that’s when my research led me to the ones I mentioned earlier. It’s a struggle at times for me because like some here have said, I have family members who don’t desire to eat this way, so I can’t clear out the cupboard...maybe in time. But until then I let the way I feel and my bloodwork speak for itself. Best of health to you all!

Love your videos. Great information. Been on Keto to 5 months. Reached my lowest level of weight in my adult life. Was at high end of BMI range when I began. Only problem. Horrible skin outbreak on shoulders. Seems related to MCT oil. Going to binge watch your videos. Next is MCT oil.

The ketone strips are on Amazon and a 65 strip bottle is under $7. Every time I order something, I always throw a bottle in my basket.
I like the smart phone app ( also runs on computer ) called Carb Manager to track daily carbs. You enter foods & amounts eaten - it tells you how many carbs you've eaten.

Removed all carbs from cupboards, removed root veg, pasta, porridge, quinoa, couscous, binned anything processed. Now bought my first ct oil, keytone testing machine. I'm still a bit concerned because I had a stroke a couple of Christmases ago and no longer ever experience hunger. So I tended to just graze all the time. These last ten days, no grazing just eating 3 meals - high fat, high protein (lean) no carbs apart from green (mainly) veg yet no cravings! I'm not able to eat a stick of butter, just the thought makes me shudder and gag. But I'll keep trying. :)

Thanks a lot for this video. One point where I differ and function differently.Is cleaning the cupboard. I tried many times to give up smoking, hiding lighters and ashtrays unsuccessfully. But I did successfully quit smoking when I had all my ashtrays, lighters and a whole ten pack cigarette cartoon in my cupboard.🤣😂😉.I haven't smoked a single cigarette, don't have cravings.I don't mind if others smoke around me.
We got rid of some of the worst foods, ate the rest in moderation with KETO, just never replaced it..worked for us, may not for others

So glad to see your videos, I watch all Dr.Ken Berry and all the Low Carb Down Under vidoes and need a new face. I like the total carb instead of net carb recommendation. I live with a sugar addict who will not change so there's no way I can clean the shelves,,, yes it's very rough with all the carbs around. Have to add that after doing keto since Jan1,2018 I had never did the mega butter thing but on a urge yesterday I did 4 0z /1/2 stick with my breakfast and now I can understand how people can eat OMAD and I am going for the 24 hr feed at 10 today. Found your video today and I can verify that butter works.

I also suffer greatly from muscle fasciculations, aka muscular twitches for a very, very long time. I'd like to ask you how many grams of fat do you recommend a person mu height 6' 1", roughly 175 lbs consume per day? I know you mention 80% of the diet is fat. How many grams would that be? And how many grams of protein would a person of my build eat? Do you base that off a specific daily caloric intake? What advice do you have for those who can't eat dairy but want to eat Keto?
To clarify, I don't have an allergy per se, but dairy causes extreme congestion and I almost always pick up a cold virus or something within 48 hours of eating dairy. I can do small amounts of 24 hour fermented yogurt, but butter, cream and other dairy,even Kefír all cause this issue. Is it possible to do Keto without dairy?

Hello Dr Boz, for myself I started doing the keto recipe's on RUclips, two weeks ago and iv lost ten pounds.yes I cheat a little very little, but I still make myself a little keto pancake and solves it.
MCT oil gave me major palpitations/PVCs. I ended up in the ER. It was not the lack of electrolytes because I had an electrolyte drink that I purchased from dr. Berg. So a week later I try the MCT oil again and the same thing happened. I can't even eat fat bombs with coconut oil but I can use coconut oil when I'm cooking in small amounts
I have PCOs and have been keto for over a month with great results. I've read about how it may be beneficial for hormone production to have a day where you eat carbs. I was thinking of timing this with my menstruation cycle. Maybe eating them in the final week of my cycle. I'm wondering if you have any opinions about doing a carb-up day once a month?

We recommend Cronometer (the free version) to count TOTal carbs. Vegetables and nuts add up quickly- keep the count to 20 g-whatever the food is

It's a little harder when you have a spouse who can't or won't go on the same diet. Which is understandable. I just made a point of what I will eat and what I won't. That's my tip.
I think I'm very blessed because my husband will eat anything I serve him. He finds everything good. On the side, he eats huge amounts of Reese's Pieces and Glossettes but never gains weight!!! I'm so jealous. Nicole
When I went on the keto diet my husband said he would eat whatever I fixed. The problem was, he was slim and didn't need to lose any weight and I wanted to lose 40 lbs.. He lost almost 50 lbs. In less than a month and I only lost 20. I was so jealous, he was afraid something terrible was happening in his body. Anyway, we eat separate meals now. The moral of this is, If you don't need to lose weight, stay away from this diet, lol.
Ruh Roh! This is gonna be a tough one to crack! I do very well at cooking with whole ingredients, but I am a sucker for pasta, and wines. Roux based sauces are on the menu two, three times a week! Old fashioned oats, shredded wheat, Cheerios. are all staples, no, cornerstones in my diet!!! Wish me luck!!

It's funny how you/she said empty your cupboards, I was looking at all the food that I have and realized it was all bread and breaded meats and junk, thankfully I don't really have a sweet tooth anymore so none of that but I realized I need to throw out everything and start over, and now by coincidence, I'm watching this!

@@66gtb i lasted until the end of the sentence.... i do better though, i need 2 tsp sugar in my coffee, i dont eat gluten and i only have 2oz of starch like rice or potato with each meal, i added more fat...pumpkin seeds, chia, hemp and avadoko's...i feel pretty good. I go to sprouts and get these gluten free flax muffins but you have to watch the sugar in those.

There is a reason for this. She is a medical doctor. There are so many professions allied to medicine that pretend to be doctors and see undifferentiated patients, that it is important to make the distinction.
Becoming a medical doctor is uniquely gruelling and takes years of intensive study. Doctors are started on the scientific basics of anatomy, physiology, biochemistry, embryology and genetics , before they specialise in diseases. They are uniquely qualified to understand the human body. Always know people's background and qualifications if trusting them with your life.

Hello Dr.Boz, just want to ask if the "cholesterol" level will not shoot up with this keto diet? I really wanted to start with this diet, however I still felt skeptical because of the fear of getting my choleresterol level goes up, and in th e long run will get a high blood pressure- hypertension and clogging my heart with those cholesterol? I'm hearing that it is not good for the heart in a long term factor. Please give me a clearance on this. Thanks. More power.
We've demonized cholesterol based on very very shoddy nutrition evidence. We do need to revise our standards because there isn't a strong correlation between heart attacks and cholesterol. Worry more about your triglyceride levels and your HDL levels. That has a far stronger correlation than the cholesterol. (worry about small dense cholesterol - this means it's been oxidized. Think of it like rust on iron. Sugar is a "rusting agent" on cholesterol.)
Think of it this way, if you are overweight/obese, isn't losing even 10 pounds beneficial for your body? Won't your joints thank you? Won't your heart thank you for not having to pump so hard to get the blood through your system?
I'm not a medical professional or a nutrition expert. One of the things I made sure on my keto diet was to go very very low carb as in only vegetables. Our body wasn't designed for so many processed carbs. Our body wasn't even designed for modern fruit which is far larger, far sweeter, and far easier to obtain with little to no physical effort to "pay" for that sugar. Besides, I prefer veggies to fruit. Especially spinach and other cruciferous vegetables such as cauliflower. The research that I did was looking at Phinney and Vollick and just trying to understand the science behind this diet. Keto isn't a new diet. It's well over a hundred years. We prescribe this diet to children with epilepsy and even now, there are grown adults who are prescribed this diet. I also observed that the nutrition guidelines and recommendations for exercise haven't resulted in fewer cases of obesity. At some point, we need to stop blaming the victims who followed the guidelines and blame the guidelines as fundamentally flawed. We've been getting fatter for far longer than we've gotten the Happy Meal. We can't just blame it on Americans or fast food. (I look at female populations because, on average, women tend to be more health and body conscious. They've been eating more low fat yogurt and salad and they've all been increasing in size as the decades pass.)

I am not doing this to lose weight. (I just hope I don;t gain some!!) I am trying to calm down my acid reflux. I have not ever been a sugar addict...so no problems dropping that even more. It was the carbs causing the trouble and my reflux has really settled down.
Most dairy, including butter, makes me extremely nauseated. A spoonful of MCT oil doesn’t make me nauseous, and gives me a full filling. PLUS...it puts me in ketosis within an hour!

How do you count the carbs. I know to check packages but I don’t eat anything from a package. I eat vegetables, meat, avocado, bacon and eggs. I know there are carbs in veggies but I just didn’t know how many carbs I get in a day.

There are many ketotarians out there. Will Cole has a book. Olive oil, coconut oil, nuts, macadamia nuts.
Most nuts, seeds and their products and tofu are keto-friendly. People do vegan keto although it probably takes a bit more planning.
I am 62, started keto 3.5 weeks ago, doing about 20 carb's per day. Not really losing weight yet. Maybe 5 lbs. total. Does the older body take this long to be able to be fat-burning? Maybe I am not eating enough fat?
Barbara B Don’t give up. My wife was better than I was in sticking to the plan and she took almost a month to lose about 5-7 lbs.
However she and several others I have spoken to say the same thing “The weight is not coming off but my clothes are getting looser.”
Keep the faith and know that for many it isn’t a sprint but a marathon. And you’re helping your health in ways that go beyond what the scale says. I wish I had more effective advice than that, but we’re still learning too. Just try not to be discouraged. Us “well aged” individuals don’t all drop the pounds at the same rate! 😉

I’m about 45 hours into a water fast. My response is different than usual, so I checked BP 118/65 little lower then normal but my blood sugar is 75 I think that’s ok but I planed on 4or 5 days. ✅
