It is a highway capable vehicle, which if your vehicle is smoking, you need to turn up as fast as possible before it goes up. The Arcimoto platform can much more easily maneuver through traffic, than a big heavy firetruck can, so can get to you faster to extinguish the fire before it consumes the whole vehicle. Seconds count in saving lives and property. This is why all fire departments should very seriously consider getting one ASAP. It has so much potential to save lives just by it's ability to get first responders on site faster than any other vehicle. You could easily combine it into a Fire and Medical Response vehicle. It has the room for supplies on the bed of the tray as well as the firefighting equipment.
This wouldn't work for me in my current work-life situation, but I nonetheless wish them the best of luck with this and much success because for a large number of people this is the perfect solution.
The question is, how many people will make this their primary, do-everything vehicle? People tend to go to the other extreme, such as a 6-passenger pickup or 8-passenger SUV.
Gas prices are starting to catch up with reality. When it hits $10/gal you will sing a different tune. Even $10 is not enough to cover all the damage ICE vehicles do. Carbon tax now!
@@popeyegordon When gas reaches $10 a gallon, pickup owners will blame everyone except themselves. However, the debut of several full-size EV pickups will result in an exodus from gas and diesel pickups.
I am not excited about the rapid responder idea. Especially for fire fighting in forest areas. There are plenty of rugged four wheel drive ATVs. I have had my FUV for just over six months now and have put in over a thousand miles. Overall, I am greatly impressed and people are always walking up to inspect the FUV. I really have only three complaints. First, is in using the digital key pad to start the FUV. It has problems in that it sometimes take a number of tries of code input to activate the initial "A" display screen. Secondly, you have to press the foot brake down and press a button on the left handlebar. This also sometimes takes a number of tries. Third, when you park, set the brake and press the "Off button" on the screen, sometimes the FUV does not turn off. Eventually it does. I carry the metal key just in case. I will double check the instructions to see if I am doing things right.
I like the ability to not carry a key. My keypad works every time. All cars today require your foot on the brake to start them. You may want to call FUV mobile service for your issues, it is free.
Here in the Midwest, we have bitter cold, freezing rain, and snow in the winter and deadly heat and humidity in the summer. We need a vehicle that provides year-round protection from heat, cold, and precipitation.I don't foresee a big market for Arcimoto outside of a few temperate states.
They had talked about having a full enclosure and a heater which would solve winter, and then you can remove the doors for summer. For me the lack of fast charging and smallish battery range would be very niche for midwestern distances. This would be a no brainer for all those golf cart communities in AZ and FLA since it could be used in the community and on the roads to do many errands. It would be a decent commuter vehicle nearly everywhere since it has about the same range as my first EV. With the enclosure and a small heater it would work in many places. In the PNW I use a heated vest and heated gloves on my motorcycle and sitting behind the windscreen out of the wind, it is fine as long as there is no ice which would make me want a third wheel for balance.
@@Chris-bg8mk Nobody uses a motorcycle as their primary transport in the winter in the Midwest.
