CO-OP LIVE ARENA REVIEW - Etihad Stadium, Manchester - The Good, The Bad & The LIES!
Pet Shop Boys appeared at the Co-op Live on June 9th 2024. I have a video online for the gig already, but it was the first time I've been to this arena, and I have quite a bit to say about it.
The venue has a lot of problems, and I hope this video will help answer any questions you have. It's fully-chaptered, but if you have questions about anything not covered, please comment.

UPDATE: Umbrellas aren't allowed inside! I saw a comment from someone on Reddit about how everyone had to leave them on the wall outside, and just hope for the best they were still there on leaving. What do they think people are going to do with them while inside? Expect rain?!

Arenas are not built to create an atmosphere, they are built to cram in as much people as possible.

The whole thing looks horendous!!! I have been going to concerts for 50 years and now you have to be nearly grateful to get into a place nevermind trying to stay until the end and get a bus/train home. The whole thing is a joke, I limit my concerts a bit now price/ location etc I live near Bham city centre. I have the Utilita Arena,( large venue) O2 ( small venue) Symphony Hall middle( 2.000) and a 15 min train ride away is the NEC now called Resorts World. The best one is probably Symphony Hall worst Resorts I dont go there anymore as I had prime RUSH gig ruined by some morons, as they encourage everyone to buy as much beer as possible , and its a nightmare to get home. The gig normally supersedes how you get treated but lets not get the **ss taken out of us....

100% in agreement. It's more complex than trying to go through an airport! The water bottle situation irritated me the most (well, on a par with the lack of elevated seating in the floor area) as I always need to have a full bottle of water with me, as I get a dry mouth, so just had to rely on some sweets for a while until I actually got some water.

@@DVDfeverGames E very gig or sports event I go too I take a small bottle of water, like you I dont like to dehydrate , I put it in my bag , when they say I cant take it in I just say I need it for medicinal reasons !Tickets are expensive another £5 for a drink of water ,cmon its just a rip off, I dont think a large arena will close if we dont buy their water, especially when we have already paid for water out of our taps..

@@Seahawksnewera I saw someone else mention they got charged £3 for water, but as I mention for myself, I somehow got it for free. If he'd tried to charge me, I'd have just gone back to security who sent me over to him.

Glad to hear they've now got that sorted. They weren't so advanced when I went in June. Have they installed water stations, yet, too?

9 quid for a pint, fans are getting totally ripped off with ticket prices as well, a decent gig at the arena a couple of years agao was 80 to 100 quid, suddenly they have gone up to 130 to 200 plus

You should've seen the prices for Paul McCartney! Over £400! And he can't even hit the high notes any more.

Was the water bottle empty when you went in?

Yes. I wish I could've taken in a filled bottle like every other venue is fine with, but this place is as strict as an airport!
