Rachmaninov truly does reach the parts other composers fail to reach. He was a painter of sound who understood his palette better than most. Chopin's influence is obvious as a pianist, orchestrally he aspired to Tchaikovsky, but it is Rimsky-Korsakov's instruction which really shines through in his arrangements. The sheer depth of feeling, even in Rachmaninov's more austere moments, defies analysis.
It's insane but Rach understood me more than I understand myself... Most of his pieces are full of burning passions, sad yearnings, loneliness, and there is always some strange dark mystery... I have never listened deeper music...
I made an effort to find all of Rachmaninoff's piano music a few months ago. I've listened to all of his Preludes, all of his Études-Tableaux, his Suites No. 1 and 2, his Morceaux de fantaisie, his Moments Musicaux and a few other stand-alone pieces. I knew I still had to listen to his Morceaux de salon and a few other pieces, but somehow I managed to miss this suite entirely! For some reason, in years of listening to his music, this is the first I have heard of this suite-when RUclips recommended it to me just now.
Found this on IMSLP: petruccimusiclibrary.ca/files/imglnks/caimg/f/f9/IMSLP668634-PMLP1073102-Suite-in-d-Minor-for-Orchestra-rachmaninoff-Piano-Arrangement.pdf

lovely comment
@Mazzel Tov it isn't a contest. :D Ravel and Rachmaninov were both highly skilled orchestrators. You forgot Boulanger.
@Mazzel Tov sorry I hurt your feelings.
@Mazzel Tov I expect you are - your pathetic attempts at trolling don't deserve intelligent answers :D

my favorite part as well
Love this! The music, the performance and the piano!!
Thanks for uploading!
Awesome!
This is such a nice version. Thank you..🙏
Shades of Chopin in this early Rach piece, don't hear Beethoven, though. The artist's painted scene is lovely.
17 - 18 years old when he wrote this!
The 3rd movement of this suite sounds like it was inspired by the 3rd movement of Beethovens first piano sonata.
Totally, there's no other way!

superb!
0:00 that opening is kinda like the beginning of his 2nd piano concerto before the tutti part
je ne sais plus ce qu il m arrive ! ce rachmaninnov est en train de m arracher le coeur! et je pleur , rachmaninov il vit dans mes entrailles!
Una de las obras menos conocidas de Rachmaninov
